Germany bans workers from calling in sick

If he thinks this will “boost” the economy then he’s in for a rude awakening, this will cause the overcrowded doctors offices to be even more crowded. He and the green party are the main culprits for why the economy is stagnating and the longer he’s in office the worse it will get.

Israel abducts five women activists in the occupied West Bank

The Israeli army arrested five women activists in the occupied West Bank early on Wednesday morning. The women, who work with health committees, were arrested after their homes were raided. The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club reported that the arrests included Jamila Abu Dahou and Jamila Kanaan from Ramallah, released prisoners Maysar al-Faqih and Faten Hanaysheh from Nablus, and Etaf Bader from Hebron, in addition to 15 other Palestinians. Abdul Rahman Bader, the husband of 66-year-old Etaf, told Middle East Eye that soldiers stormed their home in Hebron and asked for his wife’s ID. Upon recognising her, they informed her that she was under arrest.

Just finished my FreeSewing Crux Climbing pants. I first made a muslin, a first for me, just to see where the problem areas were and to reduce the amount of mistakes on the fancy pink fabric.

Just finished my FreeSewing Crux Climbing pants. I first made a muslin, a first for me, just to see where the problem areas were and to reduce the amount of mistakes on the fancy pink fabric. I also tried dying the muslin using saved avocado pits and shells, which worked out pretty well. I also tried out some of my Bernina 930’s decorative stitches on the muslin. I figured just the topstitching was fancy enough for the pink denim. Both feature these nice articulated knees and a gusset, a very interesting part of these. The fly of the muslin isn’t perfect on the inside, but that’s on the inside so 🤷 #sewing #FreeSewing #FreeSewingCrux #Jeans #Bernina #TopStitching #Climbing #bouldering @[email protected] @[email protected]

Iran Warns of Decisive Response to Any U.S. Interference in Hormuz

The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters declares the strait a ‘red line.’ On Thursday, Iran’s main military command, the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters (KCHQ), warned that any U.S. interference in the Strait of Hormuz will be met with the Iranian armed forces’ “decisive and swift” response. RELATED: White House Envoys Arrive in Doha for Talks with Mediators Between U.S. and Iran The KCHQ stressed that the strait is not the “aggressive U.S. playground,” but the territory of Iran’s “undisputed sovereignty,” with its security and stability considered a red line for the Iranian military. It confirmed that all oil tankers and commercial vessels seeking to pass through the strait must use routes designated by Iran, warning that any non-compliance and use of other routes, or disregard for Iran’s navigation protocols, will be met with the Iranian armed forces’ “immediate and decisive” response, and endanger the violating vessels’ safety. The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said that Iran considers any U.S. attempt to interfere in security affairs or cause disruption in the Strait of Hormuz as a threat against its national security, and will respond to it “swiftly and decisively.” It emphasized that the continued presence of U.S. manned and unmanned fighter aircraft over the waterway will cause insecurity, adding that Iran will not hesitate to take the necessary actions to “crush any aggression” by the U.S. forces and their supporters to protect its sovereignty over the strait. The head of the Khatam Al-Anbiya Central Headquarters today warned the United States and Israel against any attack on #Iran as it prepares for the state funeral of the late supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.https://t.co/dQeoAsantQ — Jason Brodsky (@JasonMBrodsky) July 2, 2026 Iran has tightened its grip on the strait since Feb. 28, when it barred safe passage of vessels belonging to or affiliated with Israel and the United States following their joint strikes on Iranian territory. On Thursday, Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s deputy foreign minister for Legal and International Affairs, underlined in a post on social media platform X that the Strait of Hormuz “is defined under Iran’s command, not the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).” His remarks came a day after CENTCOM led a “security dialogue” in Bahrain with military officials from 12 countries. The meeting discussed regional security, expanding defense collaboration across the region, and underscored their commitment to the free flow of commerce through the Strait of Hormuz. Gharibabadi said the Bahrain meeting cannot “create legal order and security” for the Gulf, noting that security in West Asia will be ensured “not under the U.S. military umbrella,” but after the U.S. stops its interventions, withdraws from the region, respects countries’ national sovereignty, and accepts new geopolitical realities. teleSUR/ JF Source: Xinhua From teleSUR English via This RSS Feed.

Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment, July 1, 2026

Russia’s spring-summer 2026 offensive has failed to achieve operationally significant gains thus far, and Russian forces’ rate of advance in June 2026 is a fraction of the rate of advance that Russian forces achieved in June 2025. ISW has observed evidence to assess that Russian forces seized or infiltrated 30.42 square kilometers in June 2026 and advanced or infiltrated at an average pace of 1.01 square kilometers per day. Russian forces comparatively seized 481.25 square kilometers in June 2025, advancing at an average pace of 16.04 square kilometers per day. Russia’s gains have been largely gradual and creeping for over a year, and even Russia’s faster average rate of advance in 2025 was at a foot pace.[1] Russia’s rate of advance has been steadily decreasing since November 2025, and Russian forces have thus far been unable to roll back the successful Ukrainian counterattacks in the Kupyansk and Oleksandrivka directions from late 2025 and spring 2026.[2] Russian forces’ main territorial gains have been in Russia’s main effort area near Kostyantynivka in Donetsk Oblast, where Russian forces have achieved slow tactical gains at high costs in the city’s urban environs.

Elon Musk is boosting an anti-immigrant film loved by the far right

So I started watching Citizen Vigilante a couple of nights ago. I knew nothing about it or the director. I just knew it was a direct-to-DVD kinda movie, and Armie Hammer in it. The review ratings on RT and IMDB (more on that later) seemed pretty good for a direct-to-DVD movie and I liked Armie in The Man From Uncle, so I gave it a try. IT IS BAD! And I don’t just mean bad as in racist and offensive, although it’s that too. It’s just a TERRIBLY written, acted, and directed movie! There were two scenes that particularly stuck out as bad (spoilers ahead, but you really don’t want to waste your time watching this movie). The first is a scene where Armie randomly goes to a sort of brothel and starts railing a prostitute. Mid intercourse he looks up at the ceiling and sees mold. This prompts him to stop, inform the prostitute that he is the owner of the building, explain how the mold is forming because of improper ventilation while showering, and that if her pimp doesn’t get that fixed he’ll be back (all threatening like). Then he goes back to railing her. The second scene is where this huge terrorist task force is coming for Armie. The movie makes a big deal beforehand about how all the “regular” people all love the Citizen Vigilante, but the government doesn’t. You know, because of his racism… So all these military looking dudes go into this building where they know the Armie is, but he’s ready for them! He built this giant steel box in this empty room the size of your average bedroom. The steel box has two automatic machine guns facing outward that he can swivel around from inside, and a small little slit so he can see out. The military guys line up in this small room right in front of this box. They can clearly see the two machine guns, but why take cover, right!? Armie says this tough guy cheesy line about not wanting to kill them, and then the military dudes just open fire on this clearly bulletproof steel box they are standing infront of. Cut to a slo-mo of Armie mowing them all down from inside the box. Then if things weren’t ridiculous enough, the general orders a second wave to go in!!! The second wave lines up right in front of the box, just as the first wave did. No cover, or change of tactics. You can guess what happened the second time… Absolutely the stupidest action scene (if you can call it that) I’ve ever seen! I finally turned it off when Armie goes on to speak with someone running his rental management company (apparently he’s a millionaire landlord when he’s not slaughtering people) and starts complaining that he can’t instantly kick people out of his units the day they miss a payment. You know, cause of the evil laws… I honestly can’t see how anyone would ever enjoy this movie AT ALL, no matter how racist they might be. The reviews on RT and IMDB are clearly being manipulated with bots. All of them talking like this movie is some masterpiece.

Awful practice and great job California!

Okay, so I have no idea about streaming services, but commercials on broadcast TV never had the volume increased but the compression. (I love getting lost in details so apologies if any of this comes off condescending.) Compression works by making the quieter parts louder, without distorting the louder parts. THINK of a SENTENCE where SOME of the WORDS are LOUD and OTHER words are QUIETER. compression works by squishing down all the loud parts, then bringing everything back up to full volume, so the previous sentence would become: THINK OF A SENTENCE WHERE SOME OF THE WORDS ARE LOUD AND OTHER WORDS ARE QUIETER. Now, the loud parts didn’t become louder. What happened is that the quieter parts got louder. You lose the dynamic, but gain volume. If you think it would just be exhausting, you’re correct - even at low volumes, you can get a sense of ear fatigue when audio is heavily compressed. Now, if you want to know why movies have quiet parts where you can’t hear shit and loud parts that are way louder, this is called dynamics. Artistically, you very much want this for the same reason you want quiet parts and loud parts in classical music. If everything is constantly loud, the dramatic moments won’t feel as impactful. “But wait, I don’t enjoy that, I like having my TV at a reasonable volume!” Yup, me too. It’s fucking annoying. Mixing is done often on high quality speakers, loud volume, so you can get every detail. Most home setups dont have that nuance, and most people don’t care. Until execs can actually get proven that they’ll make more money by having consistent compression, you’re shit out of luck. You’ll probably have to get your own compression, either through software or hardware. Source: used to work in sound engineering.
