Over 1,000 people may have died from June heatwave in Spain

That the two hottest Junes have been the last two is not a coincidence or a statistical fluke. It simply reflects what is happening to the planet: it is overheating because of greenhouse gases emitted by humans, primarily from the use of fossil fuels (oil, gas and coal). Climate change has ushered Earth into an era of fleeting records and a stringing together of historic highs. For example, the last 11 years have been the warmest on average for the planet as a whole.

Please just leave me alone!

Like seriously they pop up out of nowhere and clutter up the news. Leave me alone, live an ordinary life, whatever! I DONT WANT TO KNOW YOU!

Having trouble with the "Hide posts in communities with these words in their name" setting: [SOLVED]

Couldn’t find this asked here before, so I’m starting a thread. From the filters page, I’m attempting to block various posts with keywords in their names following the directive to “Use a comma between each word.” So far it doesn’t seem to be working whether adding spaces after the comma or not. I’m testing by refreshing my subscribed feed as well as jumping in to communities where such posts are made. They still show up. I’d rather not block the user for various reasons; just don’t want to see certain posts.

Rule still has moments where it can be funny

I used epilator on my armpits and it hurt a lot. But I hate the fact I’m so hairy as a woman (thanks, PCOS and genetics, I also now have to shave my mustache), so I just take it. To your point, I prefer to use waxing strips on that area because it’s less painful as it rips much more hair off in one go.

If search results just link to slop articles...

The search results only have slop articles because it’s increasingly difficult to find anything else. I heard that recent estimates are indicating about 50% of the content of the internet is already AI generated, and it’s only going to get worse, and it’s going to keep getting worse very rapidly. “Search” in the way we understand it is obsolete. I don’t know what the future of content discovery for real humans is going to look like, but I’m confident it’s not going to look anything like search. That’s broken and it’s never coming back.

Pride is over. Time to be STRAIGHT again.

I’m gonna get together with my boys and we’re all gonna bbq and drink beers shirtless, and talk about how much we like boobs and cars. And then we’ll all make ou… I mean, uh, watch football.

The Nakba exhibit is a breakthrough for a long-silenced Palestinian narrative

An excellent exhibit, given the past controversy and history of this museum. I lived in Winnipeg while it was proposed and built, with early critics concerned over the one-sidedness of isreali displays and a lack of indigenous history - especially heinous considering how first peoples have been treated in Canada. The article mentions the resignation of a board member over the exhibit. For more information, you can find his side of the story here: https://thehub.ca/2026/06/29/why-i-resigned-from-the-canadian-museum-for-human-rights/ I don’t support his take on it. For lack of a better term, the dude sounds butthurt as hell. It’s telling how easily a noted right wing publication like The Hub picked up his opinion piece.

sparkling. buzzing. overwhelming bubbles. ohgosh wow

this is gonna be a short one, trust me! >o< (im trustworthy, see my pfp waving to you… yes its waving!!!) there is no content warning, this is all child-friendly content. i - wow. i was playing a game to get my mind off of things. (playing osu… a game which needs quite the amount of realtime attention) but then i thought of my crush a smol bit. not much, nothing spicy, nothing special, literally just us and another friend sitting and having tea. but then!!! evil and selfish and uncontrollable as my thoughts are - i imagined them asking me something!!! >o< aaaa ohgosh. wasnt even anything big, wasnt even like - exciting or anything. but! my - (this sounds weird) my tummy and pelvis started like - bubbling and buzzing like crazy. like crazy. like - crazy. its like roller coaster riding but only the part where u go straight down but without the gut-wrenching feeling and more positive and this might still be an understatement honestly. i lost the level because i was pulling my hands off of the keyboard as i was - involuntarily squirming back and forth on the chair, moving away from the desk… this really does sound weird. like - i had to actively distract myself to get it to stop. it wasnt a horny thing, it was very different. (for anyone caring: am on hrt for 2 months) wowie zowie. anyway, am i allowed to post stuff like this here, or is this maybe not the right place? also, i hope u have a lovely day <3

White neolibs when they see a SocDem PoC: "I LOVE ADOLF HITLER!!!"

With my doctor, it will work like this: I will call them and tell them I am sick with something that makes it hard to travel (stomach issues or the like) and they will give me a 3 day pink slip with instructions to come in if I don’t feel better. Fuck the CDU and SPD though, for the assumption that most sick day calls are fake. Makes me want to call in fake sick more.

Inside Canada’s Most Audacious Bank Vault Robbery

Andy Easton began working as a custodian at the Vancouver Safety Deposit Vaults in 1976. On Friday, January 7, after checking the vault’s time lock, he shut the massive doors, confident they would still be locked when he showed up for work after the weekend. The vaults had been advertised as impregnable. (A banner outside the top floor read: “Safest Armoured Vaults in the West. Burglar and Fireproof.”) Monday, January 10, began as a typical morning. Easton headed directly downstairs to the main vault and prepared to open its seven-inch-thick door at the programmed time. Easton noticed a slight discolouration around the door’s edges. This turned out to be a thin layer of rust. According to police, Easton immediately knew something was amiss. “It was this rust that tipped me off to the burglary.” When Easton opened the vault door, he was stunned. There were two large cylinders, each approximately five feet high, standing in one corner. Doors on hundreds of deposit boxes were missing or hanging askew from their hinges, while a majority of the top nine rows of boxes appeared to be intact and locked. Discarded papers, including insurance documents, mortgages, and stock certificates, littered the floor, and empty deposit boxes were stacked haphazardly. Easton immediately called the Vancouver Police Department.
