The next British PM should steer clear of Starmer’s shameful legacy - Jeremy Corbyn

When British Prime Minister Keir Starmer resigned last week, an old but forever damning clip resurfaced. Appearing on a London radio show in October 2023, the former human rights lawyer told the host that Israel had the right to cut water and electricity off to the besieged population of Gaza. This was no slip of the tongue. Instead, it represented the instincts of a man who went on to oversee Britain’s complicity in the greatest crime of our time. In opposition, Starmer helped Israel accrue the confidence and capital it needed to justify its crimes. In office, his government helped Israel accrue the military means it needed to carry them out. After Starmer took office in July 2024, the value of arms export licences granted from October to December that year alone was 127.6 million pounds ($168.8m), far higher than what was approved by the Conservative government from 2020 to 2023. In September 2024, Labour Foreign Secretary David Lammy announced a partial suspension of arms exports to Israel. Pausing about 30 arms export licences out of a total of 350, the government made one, huge, glaring omission: the continued supply of parts for Israel’s F-35 stealth fighter jets. This included components that went to the United States to be sent on to Israel and spare parts that went into global stockpiles that may have gone to Israel. Arms sales typically dominate discussions of British complicity. However, perhaps even more significant has been the continued role of Royal Air Force Akrotiri base in Cyprus. “The whole world and everyone back at home is relying on you. Quite a bit of what goes on here can’t necessarily be talked about all of the time. We can’t necessarily tell the world what you’re doing.” This is what Starmer told service members while visiting the RAF base in December 2024. If Starmer won’t tell the world, we will: RAF bases have been a critical site of complicity, principally through the performance of routine RAF surveillance flights over Gaza. Israel has not just relied on the United Kingdom’s military support but its economic support too. The government should have been using every single economic and political tool at its disposal to force Israel to stop. That is the approach the government has taken towards Russia. Refusing to do the same to Israel is rank hypocrisy – and proof of economic, diplomatic and political complicity. A sprinkling of sanctions against a handful of extreme settlers and ministers doesn’t cut it. Without comprehensive sanctions, Israel will never adhere to international law: not in Gaza, not in the West Bank, not in Lebanon, not anywhere.

Some news about the OpenPrinter project

The OpenPrinter project (see the CrowdSupply project’s page) aims to create an open source repairable printer. It has some interesting features. I was starting to believe the project was dead but they gave some news on their progress today : https://www.crowdsupply.com/open-tools/open-printer/updates/progress-update-and-details-about-our-nomination-for-a-french-design-award. I post it here since the project is lead by french people and would be an alternative to many printer manufacturer.

Beets Report July 1

The beet crop is growing nicely. But we remain vigilant against the deer. Despite their best efforts, the string beans are holding their front. And have been reported as growing back. I have 7 nice peppers and some tiny tomatoes are appearing. There has been ongoing discussions about investing in a paintball gun to repel the bandits. Scouting, has reported that 2 fawns have been sighted and added to the gang. But no firm consensus been reached or decision made by upper management. We may need to wait for the inevitable assault on the flowers. By then I fear it will be too late. Report from the Northern front July 1 2026

Bellevue woman found dead in locked bathroom months after arranged marriage; husband arrested

Police announced Dec. 23 that the case was being investigated as a homicide after receiving the medical examiner’s report. According to court documents, the husband told detectives he and Sabbineni were married June 5, 2025, in an arranged marriage and moved in together in July. He told detectives he had left the apartment on Oct. 27 to pick up medicine and go to Cold Stone Creamery before returning home. Investigators later reviewed SmartRent data from the apartment’s electronic door lock and wrote that no one entered the apartment during the 37 minutes he was away. The same records showed he returned at 6:53 p.m., stayed in the apartment for about 17 minutes, then left at 7:10 p.m., according to the document. Detectives wrote that the bathroom door could be locked by turning the knob and closing the door, meaning someone could have locked it after Sabbineni was inside. Investigators also wrote that the husband had a secret romantic relationship with another woman in India and continued communicating with her after his marriage. Detectives said he did not disclose calls with that woman during his first interview, including calls around the time he said he was trying to get help for the locked bathroom door. During a later interview with police, detectives confronted the husband about what they described as inconsistencies between his earlier statements and evidence gathered in the investigation. According to the court document, the woman detectives said he had been communicating with called his cellphone toward the end of that interview. The court document also describes messages in which Sabbineni complained multiple times about drinks tasting bitter. On the day she died, detectives wrote, she told the husband a smoothie he made tasted like “medicine” and “cough syrup.” Bellevue police said they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.

DAE microwave cheese before eating it?

Ok, this is probably a weird question. My husband thinks I’m the only person in the world who microwaves cheese before eating it. I prefer room temperature or warm cheese - it just tastes so much better! So I will microwave a slice of cheese for like 5-10 seconds (depending on size) to make it all warm. Am I the only freak who does this? I swear it tastes so much better this way…

Some news about the OpenPrinter project

This is so cool! It looks to be much smaller than your typical printer, while still being able to print relatively large sizes (A3 and the American equivalent “tabloid”), neat! Many larger printers are only able to do A4 (or “letter” size if you’re American) Having something super repairable, no proprietary drivers and cartridges, etc. is always good too. 600/1200 DPI (latter for coloured prints, former for greyscale) looks impressive considering most people usually print at around 300 dpi I think, hopefully this means the print quality is excellent! I think it’s good that they haven’t released the price of it yet, and given how the prices of pretty much everything, especially in electronics, seem to fluctuate these days, it’s good not to overpromise on anything.

Änderung der strafrechtlichen Regelungen bei Straftaten gegen Radfahrende und zu Fuß Gehende vom 26.05.2026

Text der Petition Mit der Petition wird gefordert, das Strafgesetzbuch und die Richtlinien für das Strafverfahren und das Bußgeldverfahren (RiStBV) bei Straftaten von Autofahrenden gegen Radfahrende und zu Fuß Gehende so zu ändern, dass Autogewalt regelmäßig verfolgt wird, indem die Staatsanwaltschaften das “öffentliche Interesse” an der Strafverfolgung bejahen, anstatt wie bisher auf den Privatklageweg zu verweisen. Begründung Anzeigen von Radfahrenden gegen Autofahrende werden von der Staatsanwaltschaft in der Regel mangels “öffentlichem Interesse” an der Strafverfolgung “auf den Privatklageweg verwiesen”. Rechtsmittel dagegen gibt es nicht. Der Verletzte könnte die Tat zwar selbst vor dem Strafrichter anklagen, eine Privatklage ist aber aussichtslos, weil die Gerichte das Verfahren auch gegen den Willen des Privatklägers einstellen können. Privatkläger riskieren dabei Kosten von fast 2000 €. Die Verweisung auf den Privatklageweg bewirkt also die Einstellung des Strafverfahrens und die Straflosigkeit des Autofahrenden - und zwar auch dann, wenn eine Straftat vorliegt! Die Bejahung des öffentlichen Interesses bei Autogewalt ist aus spezial- wie aus generalpräventiven Gründen notwendig. Ein Täter wird sein Verhalten nicht ändern, wenn seine Taten nicht bestraft werden. Das allgemeine Klima der Straflosigkeit ermuntert Autofahrende weiter gegen die Straßenverkehrsordnung zur verstoßen und Straftaten zu begehen. Hier der Link zu den Seiten der Organisationen

Women in the Army Are More Likely to Be Killed by Fellow Soldiers Than Enemy Combatants

From 2001 to 2023, nearly 1 in 4 women service members experienced sexual assault, according to the Brown University’s Costs of War project, much higher than the numbers annually reported by the Pentagon. Research identifies those experiences as a key driver of suicide risk. Over the past two decades, suicide rates among women veterans have risen faster than among men. Another important piece of information that you decided to ignore. AND THIS ONE: While Hegseth rolls back protections, the issue of violence against women in the military appears to be getting worse. The Intercept’s analysis shows that from 2011 to 2020, the per capita rate of women dying by suicide or homicide in the Army was 15 per 100,000. From 2021 to 2024, following the Army’s attempted reforms in the wake of Vanessa Guillén’s killing, the rate increased over 35 percent, to 21 per 100,000. And deaths continued their pace in 2025.

If you could only play 10 games for the rest of your life, which would you choose?

Related to a post I made last year, but a little different because (1) you get to choose 10 now instead of 5, and (2) other games don’t get deleted, you just aren’t able to play them, so you don’t need to think about the good of humanity or anything, purely just selfish picks because it only impacts you. A couple notes: Any equipment necessary to play the games, you’re obviously allowed to have You can play any DLC for the games you choose You’re not allowed to make any games for you to play. If you make video games, either as a career or hobby, only other people are allowed to play them Mods are allowed, but you’re not allowed to make any for you to play. You can try to commission someone else to make them for you, though If there was historically a trilogy, for example, that now is sold on a major storefront (Steam, Xbox, PlayStation) as a single game (such as Mass Effect or Hitman) that counts as one game now. Game bundles, though, do not count. Basically, if it’s in one entry in your steam/xbox/ps library, it’s one game I’m interested to see what this community chooses, and hopefully it’s different enough from my old post to warrant some good discussion here.

Man sollte vielmehr auch einzelne Dinge wertschätzen, sonst läuft man am Ende nur radikalen Idioten wie der Afd hinterher die versprechen das alles besser wird wenn alle Ausländer weg sind. Und wie hätte er den Neoliberalismus rückgängig machen sollen? aber das Kernproblem hat er nicht bekämpft. Was ist den das “Kernproblem”. Das ist genau was ich meine, es gibt nicht die eine Sache (Ausländer, faule Arbeitslose, Wokeness, oder halt Kapitalismus) die man einfach nur beseitigen muss und dann ist alles gut. Trump hätte es auch ohne Milliadäre schaffen können Präsident zu werden.
