I get that, and it would be a fair assessment if it wasn’t because the real problem here is that parents are not parenting, plain and simple. This is yet another part of this that the social media and tech companies are using to their advantage. They get people hooked, that we agree on. Then they lobby for all this surveillance and forced identifications that uses… (Drumroll) companies owned by the same tech giants, in partnership with the other giants. Now they have made it illegal to not provide them with your data and identity, while removing many underage individuals from the equation. Win-win for them, as their liability drops, and now they can serve more ads directed at each individual, effectively increasing the price advertisers are willing to pay, increasing their revenue. There is absolutely no way to keep children out of any platform without full identification, its that simple. Then the same governments that are pushing this have access to all this data as well, which makes them basically all-knowing about every single person in the population. There is no universe in which any of this is a good thing. Look at the whole picture, and it’s not the UL, it’s every country in the world doing this, at different levels, with varying level of success and oppression. These are only some of the many reasons why I will never agree with something like this.

I hate that so many women just forgo any individuality in relationships and become their boyfriend’s mom that affirms and enables all the awful shit he thinks and does. I hate how effective the patriarchy is at socially reproducing these awful men and women they can easily take advantage of. (not discounting that she probably had genocidal views to begin with, though)

I think they had plans to become a public benefit company of some kind, with a focus on openness and preserving old tech. On 11 May 2026, the British government imposed asset-freeze and travel sanctions on the Songdowon International children’s camp in north Korea. This announcement was made alongside a fresh package of financial sanctions targeting Russian entities. The Labour government accused the facility, which is located at a well-known beauty spot near the east coast port city of Wonsan, of “supporting Russia’s programme for the forced deportation and re-education of Ukrainian children”, specifically citing (fabricated) claims that “Ukrainian” youth from the Donbass (“occupied territories”) are being subjected to political indoctrination and anti-western “militarised” education. The camp was, in fact, established in 1960 and has a long history of providing educational and recreational activities to local children and their international visitors in beautiful surroundings. Besides a pristine beachside space, facilities for the children include a water park, an aquarium, classrooms for learning about nature and the environment, sports fields, boating equipment, kitchens for learning to cook, and everything needed for making music and sharing cultural exchanges. Since it is highly unlikely that a socialist children’s centre has bank accounts or assets in the west, Songdowon’s inclusion in the list of sanctioned entities can only be viewed as a propaganda attack. The real purpose of spreading such a story is not to ‘protect children’ but to frame north Korea and Russia as ‘evil entities’, justifying further aggression against them in the minds of the British people. By drip-feeding us with the entirely spurious narrative that Russian authorities are ‘kidnapping Ukrainian children’, and that the DPRK is ‘assisting’ this heinous activity, we are being trained to see both countries as cartoon baddies, beyond comprehension or reprieve, and to accept the accelerated war preparations of the British ruling class as an inevitable ‘response’ to the dangers apparently lurking ‘out there’ in the world. As so often, we must take every baseless accusation by the imperialists as a hidden confession. It is being increasingly widely reported by independent media that the west-backed Ukrainian regime has allowed its territory to become a warren for the hunting of bodies for the global imperialist trade in children and young people, who are being kidnapped and trafficked for horrific purposes including sexual slavery, organ harvesting and medical experimentation. Yet we are supposed to believe that it is Russia that wishes to harm the children of the Donbass! One has only to consider the systematic targeting of civilians – leading to the killing of hundreds of children by west-backed Ukrainian forces – over the last 12 years of war in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions to understand the vile hypocrisy of the Starmer government. Britain has, in fact, been the biggest cheerleader for Nato’s war against Russia and is known to be heavily involved in training and directing the fascist death squads whose terrorist operations have caused so many civilian deaths and have kept the war going for so long. The fact that the very same imperialists who shed crocodile tears over the alleged ‘mistreatment’ of children by Russia went on to plan and execute and the cold-blooded murder of 21 schoolgirls in a Lugansk dormitory less than two weeks after making their baseless claims against the DPRK further underlines the absolute shamelessness of the journalists and politicians who prostitute themselves in the service of British finance capital. DPRK slams ‘reckless’ provocation, warns of consequences At a press conference in Pyongyang on 15 May, a DPRK foreign ministry spokesperson made the following comments in response to the British state’s hostile action: “Britain’s reckless act is a heinous, unethical and politically-motivated provocation to tarnish the external image of our state and disparage the DPRK-Russia relations of friendship and cooperation by unreasonably linking our children’s camping facility with the baseless issue of supposed ‘forced migration’ of Ukrainian children. “We strongly denounce and reject the malicious act of the British government, which will target even a sacred base for education and the growth of children in order to achieve its political purposes. “Britain has zealously followed the USA in carrying out acts of hostility toward the DPRK, routinely taking issue with the exercise of sovereign rights by our state and participating in war drills against the DPRK, systematically aggravating bilateral relations between our two countries. “The British government’s recent designation of the Songdowon children’s camp as a target of its ‘sanctions’ is one of many moves in its conspiracy to demonise Russia. It is also an intolerable insult to our dignified state, proving that British hostility toward the DPRK is exceeding all limits. “Now that Britain has committed such reckless acts as toying with even the rights and interests of the children that our state values the most, we have every right to counter London’s malicious behaviour. The British government will be wholly responsible for all the consequences that may follow this gravely hostile act.” For our part, the CPGB-ML unequivocally condemns this aggressive act, whose aim is not to protect children but to promote russophobic narratives as part of its propaganda campaign and war drive against the Russian Federation. The aggressive war drive of Anglo-American imperialism does not only target Russia: it is also aimed at the Democratic People’s Republic Korea, the Islamic Republic of Iran, every part of the middle-eastern Axis of Resistance, the Alliance of Sahel States, the People’s Republic of China, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Socialist Republic of Cuba … and any other nation or movement that stands in the way of unbridled imperialist domination and plunder.

Washington, D.C. – On Tuesday, June 9, organizers and activists gathered at the Cleveland Park Library to hear a report back from Ermiya Fanaeian on her recent trip to Cuba. Fanaeian, a member of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization DC (FRSO DC) – which hosted the event – visited the country as part of the May Day Brigade this past May. The visit coincided with the passing of legislation for increasing economic sanctions imposed by the Trump administration. The conversation began with Merawi Gerima, member of FRSO DC and emcee for the event, asking about how the blockade is discussed and viewed in Cuba and what attention was given to it during the trip. “All attention in Cuba is on the blockade at all times,” said Fanaeian, “From the moment you arrive, there are murals in the airport detailing the blockade and slogans about fighting to end it. The Cuban people are affected every day by the lack of access to food, water, fuel and other goods that come from overseas.” She elaborated further, “It’s not just a blockade, it’s warfare. Economic warfare.” The conversation next turned to discussion about Cuban healthcare and medical advancements made by Cuban researchers. Despite the devastating material consequences of the blockade, Cuba has more doctors per capita than any other country. The country maintains a comprehensive socialized healthcare system, which includes ample access to in-home doctor’s visits and rural clinics. Recently, a breakthrough in Alzheimer’s care was made available free of charge to anyone seeking care in Cuba. “It is amazing to see what the people of Cuba are able to accomplish despite the ongoing economic warfare,” opined Fanaeian. Gerima next asked if the Cuban people hold any animosity towards the American people. “The Cuban people love Americans, and they want us to visit. They do not hate us; they hate our government.” Fanaeian told Germia. She went on to say that Cubans want the people of the U.S. in the streets protesting the blockade, and to fight for normal international relations with the Cuban government. […] The event, at Grémio Literário in Chiado, Lisbon, features direct testimony from two former European detainees: Peter Dahlin (Sweden) and Peter Humphrey (United Kingdom). Joining them is Grace Chen (Canada), former legal adviser to the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture. In recent days, there have been at least two attempts to cancel or disrupt the Lisbon event. In a letter dated June 5, the Embassy urged the American Club of Lisbon to reconsider “offering a platform for actions that vilify China”. […] Days later, on June 12, one of the many X accounts impersonating Safeguard Defenders posted a doctored copy of the event poster. The fake changed the date, time, venue and location to mislead potential attendees. The same account pushed the false details to other users in the China human rights space by direct message. […] The move against the Lisbon event is only the latest in a long line of PRC attempts - many of them successful - to suppress information that exposes widespread, systematic human rights abuse in China. While I fully agree, the meme kind of misses the point. Money is power and power is the ability to do what you want. Once you get so much that you can do anything that society allows, if it’s gone to your head and corrupted you, you see the social taboos of society as a restriction on your freedom. That’s why they always talk about freedom and that we should be removing social and government barriers, they reached the limit and honestly don’t know where to go from there. They have spent their entire lives gaining privileges through more money and can’t conceive of any other way to live.

Explanation: In the presidential election of 1948, facing stagnant poll numbers and a seemingly unpopular incumbency, Democrat US President Harry Truman - who had taken over from FDR, who had died in office during WW2 - chose a radical and unusual route. Instead of becoming more moderate to sway voters who had defected to the Republican Party, Truman chose to throw caution to the wind and make the core Democrat platform of 1948 on unapologetic liberal progressive values. … at the time, the “Dixiecrat” wing of the Democrats was still strong, and very much opposed to progressive ideas on racial equality. Strom Thurmond, one-such Dixiecrat, defected from the Democratic Party and ran as a third-party candidate in favor of segregation. Not only that, but from the opposite wing of the Democratic Party, Henry Wallace split from the Democrats to run as a Progressive Party candidate, denouncing Truman as not left-wing enough. Things actually looked pretty dicey during the 1948 election, with polling being quite negative on Truman’s chances. However, Truman remained confident of victory - sometimes said to be the only person in his campaign team who was confident of victory! Sure enough, when election day rolled around, Truman won by a pretty comfortable margin, shocking many. Thurmond and Wallace would each receive around 2.5% of the popular vote, while the Republican candidate won ~45%, and Truman won 49.5% - a near-majority! Truman was a farm boy himself, had a pretty good idea of the opinions of rural America - who, at the time, were still lacking in many amenities like phone access, which would have allowed them to be polled. The then-progressive rural vote, thus, pulled through for Truman and allowed him a stunning victory which he used to push through parts of his “Fair Deal” which could be forced through the still-moderately-conservative Dem-controlled Congress. “The people don’t want a phony Democrat. If it’s a choice between a genuine Republican, and a Republican in Democratic clothing, the people will choose the genuine article, every time; that is, they will take a Republican before they will a phony Democrat, and I don’t want any phony Democratic candidates in this campaign.” - Truman

This was covered by the other comments but for the record: Bronze cut has a lot more texture. This dramatically affects the ability of the pasta to hold sauce. If you are just cooking noodles and dumping sauce vs under cooking and finishing in a pan with pasta water then you will never see the difference. There’s an old Olive Garden commercial that talks about how the best olive oil is golden, the best parmesan is soft, and the best pasta is yellow. Every single one of those points was wrong. The best olive oil is green. The best parmesan is hard as rock. The best pasta is yellow with a whole lot of white flecks.
