Do you know what aspects of Roblox you’re brother likes (crafting, game building, the social aspect, etc)? For a more crafting heavy game, there’s Minecraft or Terraria (I think). For game building, Game Builder Garage on Switch, or Dreams on PlayStation might be nice. Unfortunately, I don’t have any good social game recommendations, though.

Roblox will not work. The developers are actively preventing it from working in Linux. Those other games should. If you don’t mind to tinker a bit to make sure they’re set up properly, then your son should be able to just launch them from Bottles or Lutris or whatever you set up as a games launcher. I don’t know about Sims. I have a pirated copy of Sims 3 working just fine though.
Same. I know it matters to a lot of younger players though, my son’s game requirements to consider getting a steam deck are beamNG and Roblox support.
Sort of, yes. In it’s earliest stages it was just an attempt at a FOSS.Minecraft like game, but it evolved into the engine/platform it is over the past few years. Minetest uses LUA as a.scripting language, which I believe Roblox also uses.

The eSafety Commissioner ignored submissions from mental health organisations begging them to follow a more nuanced approach, no such luck. There is definitely a myriad of legitimate valid concerns to be had about social media. It’s addictive, manipulates emotions for clicks/views and encourages ordinary people to perform shock and outrage for the algorithm. But that problem doesn’t just affect young people, and I would argue that adults are just as vulnerable and the manipulation of whom has far more dangerous and immediate consequences for society. Also on the note of predators, they didn’t block problematic platforms like 4Chan or Roblox. So the pedophiles still have access to your kids, they just can’t talk to their cousins or watch tutorials on YouTube. Another job well done by the Australien government.
