why should Iran be any different? People here constantly shit on the reformists fucking up like what’s going on with the ceasefire negotiations right down to the original comment of this stupid struggle session of women chanting “Death to Araghchi.” The “Iran sucks because Islam” falls flat in this case because the reformists are more secular sympathetic while the principlists are more religious. It turns out, for various reasons, the people who are least swayed by the words and actions of the reformists come from the more religious sectors of Iranian society. And this isn’t even getting to how the Iranian diaspora is more secular than Iranians living in Iran, and the less said about the unhinged diaspora, the better. That’s why this whole “critique” of Iran being too religious is so obnoxious. Actually existing criticism of actually existing Iran is that reformists are too liberal and compromising with the West, especially the news of what’s going on with the ceasefire negotiations. They are going to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Not sure what religion has to do with the inadequacies of the reformists.

It's the economic system

I know it’s a hot take and not that serious, but I can’t help but read this as making excuses/validating inaction. it smuggles in the implication that bothering to advocate for those 3 things (taxes, regulations, workers benefits) is a waste of time under broken capitalism. as in “why tinker with regulations if the system is inherently unjust?” when in reality, arriving at a new economic system will almost certainly be a gradual process of normalizing pro-social policies and tax structures and regulations from within the current socioeconomic context we actually live in. sure, Total Economic System Change is an admirable goal… but I’d be pleased to see even a smidge more taxes (on 1%), more regulation, more workers getting what they deserve in the meantime.

This is ass-backwards. As usual, the US and its allies wanted to destabilize Yugoslavia for the purposes of regime change or Balkanization, and as usual it found a group to foment, supply, train, and fund: a minority separatist movement among Muslims within Yugoslavia and across the border in Albania. The imperialists weren’t on anyone’s side but their own, and the only outcome they cared about was replacing the government with ones that were subservient and/or weak.

Catalog your clothes, upload photos, build outfits, and access everything from your phone as an offline-ready PWA - all on your own server. Fifa drops Somali referee from World Cup after US denies entry

Football governing body Fifa has removed Somali referee Omar Abdulkadir Artan from the 2026 World Cup officiating roster after American authorities denied him entry into the country, ending what would have been the first World Cup finals appearance by a Somali match official. Artan, the Confederation of African Football’s men’s referee of the year in 2025, was barred from entering the US at Miami International Airport and is currently in Turkey. US immigration authorities have not publicly provided a reason for the decision. In a statement, Fifa said Artan would be unable to participate in the tournament after discussions with US authorities.

The corporate lobbyists behind new defence secretary Dan Jarvis

New defence secretary Dan Jarvis has previously received around half a million pounds in donations from corporate lobbyists. So, as mainstream media outlets say the Labour right-winger “once looked like the future” and “is a fine choice“, let’s look into the dark money that’s been fuelling his political career. Jarvis and his local Labour Party in Barnsley have done such an awful job at countering Tory damage to the town in recent decades that it turned to Reform in the 2026 local elections. And when you look at where Jarvis’s funds come from, you can understand why the people of Barnsley might not exactly be his top political priority. 1 — Labour Together millionaires One major source of donations to Jarvis has been key Labour Together donor Martin Taylor. Taylor runs a hedge fund that invests in private healthcare. Fellow Labour Together donor and proud pro-Israel lobbyist Trevor Chinn also gave thousands of pounds to Jarvis. It seems likely that such support was at least in part because Jarvis was a parliamentary supporter of Labour Friends of Israel who even received money from the lobby group. Labour Together was a prominent vehicle for undermining Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership of the Labour Party and forcing vacuous corporate lackey Keir Starmer onto the country. Other beneficiaries of money from Labour Together or its donors have included high-profile cronies such as Yvette Cooper, Wes Streeting, David Lammy, Shabana Mahmood, and Rachel Reeves. 2 — The “multimillionaire recruitment tycoon” with interests in private healthcare EveryDoctor explains that “multimillionaire recruitment tycoon Peter Hearn“: made his fortune through recruitment firms PSD and Odgers Berndtson Odgers Group Limited, where he resigned as a director in 2025, has offered: headhunting services to the NHS as well as the private healthcare sector. The firm has faced criticism for some of the senior executives it has helped recruit to the NHS. Former TalkTalk executive Dido Harding was headhunted by Odgers Berndtson to lead the NHS Test and Trace programme during the pandemic, which was later deemed to be ineffective by MPs. A fellow director at Odgers was Tory peer Virginia Bottomley. While Hearn clearly has a massive soft spot for Labour right-wingers Wes Streeting and Yvette Cooper, Dan Jarvis has been the other key recipient of Hearn’s money. They’ve all received money from Hearn’s OPD Group and MPM Connect Ltd. Labour campaign group Momentum once called MPM “dark money“, and Sky reported that: The company has no staff or website and is registered at an office in Hertfordshire where the secretary says she has never heard of them. EveryDoctor says Hearn’s OPD Group also “provides services to the NHS“. With Dan Jarvis, the lobby’s grip on government continues In 2016, Blairite strategist John McTernan said Jarvis: so clearly wants to be Leader of the Labour Party. Many on the right of the party mentioned his name “as a potential challenger to Jeremy Corbyn” early into Corbyn’s time as leader, with some of them even seeing him as “the party’s greatest hope“. Jarvis also reportedly had links to Blue Labour, whose whole argument is basically that Labour should be ‘more conservative‘. Jarvis has largely remained quiet in the last ten years, just accumulating corporate money and doing little of note for people in his constituency. But his move into the role of defence secretary may be a sign that his star on the Labour right is rising yet again. Considering that lobbyists’ empty vessel Keir Starmer has pushed Labour far to the right as leader, it’s unsurprising that Dan Jarvis fits neatly into the project. The question now is, exactly how much will Jarvis’s deep links to the corporate lobby influence Ministry of Defence policy at a time of already increasing military spending? Section 22 of Oaxaca in Favor of Continuing CNTE Strike; National Leadership Defines Course of Walkout Today

This article by Carolina Gómez and Jessica Xantomila originally appeared in the June 13, 2026 edition of La Jornada, Mexico’s premier left-wing daily newspaper. Amid the consultation that the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE) is carrying out with its base mobilized in the National Strike, Section 22 of Oaxaca, which is one of those with the largest contingents on strike, came out in favor of continuing the movement, which includes an encampment in Mexico City’s Historic Center, as well as marches and blockades in the country’s capital and in other states. In the early hours of this morning at the Permanent State Assembly of Section XXII SNTE-CNTE, Yenny Aracely Pérez Martínez, general secretary of the section, reported that Oaxaca declares itself in favor of continuing the movement, which began this past June 1, in the context of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The results of the consultation were 6,162 votes for a recess of the strike and 6,337 to continue the actions. Likewise, since yesterday afternoon, Filiberto Fraustro, general secretary of the Zacatecas section, was anticipating that the majority of the Coordinator’s teaching base in that state was in a “predisposition to continue” with the actions of the national strike, but warned that they still had to wait for what teachers in the other states decided. The launch of the consultation stems from the agreements of the session of the National Representative Assembly (ANR), held in the early hours of Friday. If the rank-and-file conclude the consultation this Saturday, the results could be announced at the ANR that is expected to take place today at midday. Originally, that assembly had been called for midnight, but it was moved to today. The far-right hate peddler known as ‘Tommy Robinson’ has got a bit upset at being called out on a Canary front page for his part in inciting white-supremacist violence in Belfast. And in his annoyance, he gave the Canary some accidental free advertising: He doesn’t have a leg to stand on about the ‘smear’, legally speaking. Truth is an absolute defence and libel requires damage to reputation, while his — and no doubt his income — depends on his supporters seeing him inciting. Putin admits Ukraine's drones are hurting Russia's economy

but could mounting pressure eventually threaten his grip on power? Not until the russian society actually rallies to overthrow his government. As shit as the Soviets were, part of the 1910s movement did do some good by overthrowing the tsar (even if Bolsheviks took false credit for that). I don’t think putin’s going to just crumble under pressure and disappear, he has to be ousted from his position of power. After that, it’s equal chances that whoever replaces him is actually willing to end the war and focus on rebuilding what’s left.
