It’s a small comfort that even Twitter is giving this take the reception it deserves. It’s kind of wholesome. People coming together to tell the guy who built a child-exploiting, underaged-gambling “game” for kids to get fucked brings a tear to my eye. Founding Roblox isn’t exactly building the interstate highway system, creating antibiotics, or inventing the telephone, John. And look where it’s gotten us. Drunk on arrogance and the suffering of millions You made Roblox in order to monetize children’s naivety. Epic is trying really hard at making a Roblox-like ecosystem out of Fortnite. They even have a half-stripped-down-but-with-extra-things version of the Unreal Engine (editor) to build games that are a part of this ecosystem. There’s a significant enough overlap between the Fortnite/Roblox playerbase that Epic thought they could make a decent amount of money by “poaching” the Roblox model and keeping it under their roof.

I feel this is likely assisted by the fact that they have been extremely hostile to the Linux user-base. While the people that used linux as a whole were a minority, a good portion of them were devs. There is a reason that roblox studio kept wine support where the main client blocked it, they didn’t want to isolate their map devs from the platform. However as it turns out, it’s hard to create maps on an OS that you can’t actually test your creations on, which is why the innovation as a whole for their maps have stagnated in the last few years. Less people willing to make maps for a platform that is super in your face with cash grab moments, while also being inconvenienced by artificial restrictions placed by a Dev team who still has the mentality that Linux = Hax0rs

This is really good news, glad to have access to the Roblox library on Linux again. I’m curious to see how the graphics compare to the desktop version. That said, Roblox is a scummy company that exploits users and developers, many of whom are children. Also, the chat filter and content moderation are poor, and they completely ignore the major predator issue the platform has. I don’t support the company itself.

I went looking for any kind of account tracker and to no one’s surprise they are mostly about account value from items, not so much about worlds/experiences they have been on. Most of the responses I’ve seen on here are just suggesting games which may or may not be to your kids looking purely based on those games being generally accepted as good.

Internet is not a daycare. You are correct. BUT ROBLOX MARKETED ITSELF AS BEING FOR KIDS. ROBLOX SAID THEY WERE FOR KIDS. YOUNG KIDS. ROBLOX SAID THIS. You can repeat your daycare line all you want, but that line has nothing to do with what Roblox claimed they were. Your scenario has no place here, since you are not even in the same ballpark or planet as Roblox.
