Wesgro creates the Cape Karoo region in Roblox

Pioneering innovative ways to market the destination, Wesgro – the official tourism, trade and investment promotion agency for Cape Town and the Western Cape – has launched a new Roblox game to inspire tweens, teens, and their families to explore the Western Cape this winter. The game Starlight Adventures In The Cape Karoo aims to drive tourism across the region, highlighting lesser-known but exciting family destinations where tourism is critical to the local economy. Wesgro is the first tourism promotion agency in the world to use Roblox in its marketing campaigns, with today’s launch being the second game it has released on the platform. I banned my kid from Roblox.... what next?

Microtransactions aside, if you’re trying to protect your kids from creeps online you’re gonna have to ban every platform that supports interactions with strangers. This includes several other games you’ve mentioned in the comments including Minecraft. Personally, instead of banning it I just play it with my kids on a regular basis. There’s plenty of actually decent games on Roblox and it enables game ideas that otherwise wouldn’t see the light of day. My favourite is the Ikea survival game.

There are two types of Lua users

It was so, so, so much worse back in the early days when the FacePunch forums still… existed. Probably a majority of forum posts, for years, were people screaming at Garry for making posts that just said something like ‘its obvious how this function works, I don’t need to explain it’, and then oops turns out he did it wrong, new gamebreaking bug / exploit exists for 3 weeks, the first week of which was random forum people telling Garry he did it wrong and him temp or perma banning them. That or he would very often just rewrite entire core function libraries, make a tiny 8 word bullet point about it in an avalanche of a changelog, and then say something like, ‘shouldn’t break existing code’, and then well, it would completely break existing game mode code, and then 80% of the most played custom game modes would be broken for a month or more while Garry just either ignored everyone, or told them he didn’t care. … Also, Roblox just is Gmod in many ways, but with a highly manipulative monetization model built in. All the Gmod RP servers would paygate player roles and content and such offsite, outside of the game, setup a webpage or forum that worked as an ecommerce site, run a dedi db and then API connect that into Gmod… Roblox is all of that, but self contained, and with a lot more lawyers on hand to prevent monetization outside of the game itself.

It must’ve been really annoying to have to censor all that for ROBLOX. Like, c’mon? Why not Discord? Anyways, fucked up. Wonder how he was radicalized in this way. Well, Texas is pretty bad. But still, I’m sure there’s at least a few good Christians in Texas. Hopefully. Terrible planning skills, basically announcing it all in public with plenty of time for cops to get evidence.

Oh, i just saw what youre replying to. The tumblr post’s joke is because his last two videos have been investigative deep dives where he exposes people for frauds. The roblox oof video that ends up being more about exposing Tommy Talarico involved some pretty incredible feets of research. So “he’s a good enough detectice to catch Light” becomes a funny joke to make.
