Why they always do this?

I dunno, I think the tides of public opinion are shifting on ozempic. Mostly because of how absolutely awful being fat is on your body. Though, where it’s priced now it’s going to remain a designer drug for vain, rich assholes with a touch of sour grapes for everyone else. In my own opinion I wouldn’t even put it in the same category as those others.

how you prepare to survive during the 4th Industrial Revolution (AI)?

Nah. Most technologies become exponentially more difficult to improve. We’re climbing thar curve now with gen ai but its still so far from being usable i honestly doubt it will ever replace a significant portion of tasks comprising knowledge jobs beyond the most basic. Like self driving cars. They were almost ready years ago but the last 5% of capability seems to still be out of reach. Gsm AI doesn’t just hallucinate sometimes. In my “knowledge job” you can load a few thousand words of reference materials into context, ask questions about it, and anything that requires even a modicum of inferred meaning is very likely incorrect. Worse, bots are amazingly good at being xlconfidently incorrect. I dont just mean not quite right on a few technicalities. I mean the opposite of correct. My understanding is that the current state of physical robots is much worse. We can barely get a bot to drive around your house sucking up pet dander. I watched some commentary recently that made a very convincing argument that humanoid robots will never be popular for any purpose. Just imagine a bot of any form assigned to some simple task like clean a bathroom, or weed a garden - its comical. Just like flying cars were “the future” until it became obvious that its a terrible idea, I dont think bots will replace many physical jobs.

Leaving Mozilla

A final Community thing is that over the past five or so years, Mozilla has been turning away from it’s powerhouse, the Community. I have no idea why, but I can say that it’s a top down decision. At some point, some folk at a high level decided that Mozilla got to where it did on it’s own. It did not. The thing I was beating a drum about was that the folk working there were the lucky ones who got a paycheck, but most of their peers were folk who didn’t have a badge and a @mozilla.com email address. Leadership was convinced that the people in our Community were just customers, and maybe fans. This pissed off so, so many folk, and rightly so. They had given hours or years of effort and time without compensation, because they believed they were part of a larger effort. They felt betrayed because they were betrayed. I’m sure that someone probably had a reasonable argument about “how could we let all these outsiders have say?" or “I don’t like that those folk hate the amazing work we’re doing promoting lemony fresh bell bottoms (or whatever trend they were chasing)?” I dunno, boss, maybe the folk using your browser actually might have solid reasons of their own and might really appreciate things that don’t show up on LinkedIn top takes?

What are your opinions on regular drinking?

Alternatives? Non-alcoholic beer is quite good. You have something to do at social gatherings and you can still do the cheers! thing with the others. Combucha is also great, if you like the taste. It also comes in bottles and cans similar to beer, so you don’t pop up in a party as the one drinking soda

The Soviets won the Space Race the moment they put Sputnik in the orbit of the Earth...

Because it finally forced the rest of the world, especially the United States, to pour resources into space research that the Capitalists, who solely function on a profite incentive and not the common good of humanity, would have never done it by themselves. The Communists achieved their primary objective. To venture onto the space exploration.

Race Around The World - ABC

First episode of the new Race Around the World Series has dropped. Six film-makers make documentaries in each country they’re sent to, without any support and no prep. They aren’t only sending then to the easy or touristy destinations either. The stories brought on by the people they meet, and things they see in these places are as wide and varied as the places they go. The judges are cutting but fair. They already show a respect and rapport with each other and the film-makers. Theres a genuine authenticity to each documentary and the show as a whole. This is reality tv as it should be. It isn’t ‘big’ tv, its good tv.

Is this Chinese propaganda?

This is an appeal to forgive literal convicted terrorists that came up in my social media feed. Is this China redirecting the “free east turkistan” wave to show people “east turkistan” is a terrorist movement or are the CIA/NGO trolls just that out of touch with reality? The fact that the image includes the aftermath of their terrorist bombing makes me think this is China, and its really clever.

Department Of Justice Approves Paramount Acquiring WBD

The Department of Justice has approved the Paramount acquisition of Warner Bros Discovery (WBD). There were antitrust concerns over the deal, and it could still face legal challenges from state attorneys general. The deal is valued at roughly $110 billion and is on track to be completed in September. The proposed merger has already received WBD shareholder approval. According to Politico, “After an extensive review, DOJ officials determined the transaction did not pose a threat to competition and declined to challenge it, said the people, who were granted anonymity to discuss sensitive matters. The department approved the merger without requiring any divestitures, behavioral remedies or concessions, according to one of the people.” All Elite Wrestling has a media rights deal with WBD through the end of 2027, with an option for 2028. Once the deal goes through, it is expected that Paramount streaming service Paramount+ and WBD service HBO Max will combine into one streaming platform. AEW television and pay-per-views stream on HBO Max, though it’s too early to know where AEW will land once the deal officially goes through and things are settled. I don’t remember the full context, but I recently saw someone from the Paramount side say that they don’t work for the UFC, the UFC works for them as far as exclusivity is concerned. Hopefully that means AEW can stay with their networks the next time their deal is up.

Anon pets a dog

It probably helps that OP wasn’t scared. He didn’t act like a prey animal and flee, which can trigger hunting instincts. I also can’t help but wonder if the wolf recognized a human child as being “young.” I know dogs can do that - I’ve seen them change behavior around tiny humans and tolerate things from them that they wouldn’t tolerate from adults. Granted, domesticated dogs have had many generations to acclimate themselves to us, but I wouldn’t be surprised if a wild wolf recognized that OP was a “human puppy” and not a significant threat. Also, OP had food, and considering the wolf went right for the pop tart when it was thrown, it’s possible such a sociable, intelligent creature was playing nice in hopes of being given some all along. Who knows? I’d say it’s definitely a plausible story. If the story had been about a mountain lion, I’d have my doubts. But wolves don’t usually go out of their way to antagonize humans. If some of them were able to be domesticated long ago, the same traits that brought them close to humans in the first place may still exist in the wild population.

Lectins: The Plant Defense System - MD Gundry [Lecture]

Dr. Steven Gundry, renowned heart surgeon and functional medicine pioneer, as he explores the science and clinical application of lectins, aquaporins, and intestinal permeability using Vibrant Wellness testing. With decades of experience and thousands of patient cases, Dr. Gundry breaks down the mechanisms behind food-triggered autoimmunity, leaky gut, and how precision testing can uncover hidden drivers of chronic disease. ::: spoiler summerizer Background and lectin model Dr. Gundry’s path into lectins began through heart-transplant and xeno-transplant work, where Neu5Ac, Neu5Gc, and wheat germ agglutinin made sugar-binding proteins clinically important. Lectins are sticky proteins in plants and animals that bind specific sugar molecules on blood vessels, gut lining, red blood cells, joints, and nerve junctions. Plant lectins function mainly as a defense system against predators, with humans functioning as large plant predators from the plant’s perspective. Gluten belongs within the prolamine lectin class and differs from other lectins by source, size, and behavior. Where lectins come from Legumes, grains, and nightshades are the major dietary sources, with peanut handled as a legume and nightshades including peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, goji berries, tomatillos, and tobacco. Many lectins are located in the sprouting part of seeds and in seed hulls, with wheat germ agglutinin in wheat germ and hull-associated lectins in wheat, rye, and barley. Grains such as millet, sorghum, and fonio differ from wheat, rye, and barley because they lack the same hull problem. Lectins resist digestion and ordinary cooking, so food preparation matters more than casual cooking advice. Gut-barrier and immune mechanism Fasano’s zonulin work explains how lectins bind intestinal epithelial cells, loosen tight junctions, create leaky gut, and allow immune activation. Molecular mimicry explains how antibodies against dietary lectins can cross-react with human tissue and drive autoimmune patterns. Wheat germ agglutinin and aquaporins are small lectins that can cross the gut barrier even without classic leaky gut. Modern lectin sensitivity links to microbiome disruption from antibiotics, glyphosate exposure, and loss of older practices such as soaking and fermentation. Aquaporins and difficult autoimmune cases Aquaporins are water-channel lectins shared by plants and humans, including human AQP4 in the gut, blood-brain barrier, and central nervous system. Food aquaporins in corn, spinach, potatoes, tomatoes, soybeans, bell peppers, and tobacco have similarity to human aquaporins. Food aquaporin antibodies are a possible route to neuroautoimmunity, leaky brain, myelin attack, neuropathy, MS-like patterns, brain fog, and Parkinson’s-like diagnoses. Spinach became a recurring concern after it showed up repeatedly in difficult autoimmune and leaky-gut cases that otherwise followed the program. Testing and clinical workflow The Lectin Zoomer is used to find IgG and IgA reactions to lectins from barley, bell pepper, chickpea, corn, cucumber, lentils, lima beans, mung beans, peas, peanuts, potatoes, rice, rye, soybeans, tomato, and kidney beans. A positive result is evidence that the lectin crossed the gut wall and met the systemic immune system; a negative result is not permission to eat that food freely. Aquaporin testing covers bell pepper, corn, potato, soybean, spinach, tobacco, and tomato, and positive foods are removed while markers are retested over time. Initial testing uses broad autoimmune and gut-related markers, including celiac HLA gluten profiling, ANA, rheumatoid factor, anti-CCP3, ENA, Wheat Zoomer, food sensitivity panels, and neuro panels when needed. Retesting occurs every three months, with positive foods removed until leaky-gut markers, wheat-component IgG/IgA, and autoimmune markers improve. The AHA abstract shows that nine out of ten autoimmune patients with leaky gut resolved leaky gut within a year after lectin-containing gluten-free foods were removed. Foods are reintroduced one at a time after markers clear, then Wheat Zoomer and autoimmune profiles are retested if symptoms stay quiet. Preparation, exposures, and gut repair Soaking and pressure cooking are used for beans because lectins leach into soaking water and pressure cooking reduces red-kidney-bean hemagglutinin activity. Sprouting is not relied on because lectins are located in the sprouting seed and sprouted grains are worse for vulnerable autoimmune patients. Glyphosate and antibiotics are major disruptors of the microbiome that weaken traditional tolerance to lectin-containing foods. Gut-repair compounds include N-acetylglucosamine, marshmallow, prebiotics, spore-forming bacteria, and butyrate because colon cells depend heavily on butyrate for energy and barrier function. Dried blood spot collection is used when needed because the platform is the same and only the collection method changes. Patients do not need to eat gluten or other avoided foods before testing, because long-term avoidance can still leave strong antibody findings. AIPAC Wants Democrats to Back Israel. Instead, They’re Turning on AIPAC.

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.ml/post/48650874 Once the guardian of the bipartisan pro-Israel consensus, it is now a polarizing force in the party. June 12, 2026, 5:01 a.m. ET When Brad Lander opened his Democratic primary bid for New York’s 10th Congressional District late last year, he made a promise that would once have meant political suicide: He would not do “AIPAC’s bidding” in Washington. Now the June 23 primary is almost here, and AIPAC has been a recurring theme throughout the campaign. A progressive Jew and self-described liberal Zionist, Lander challenged his opponent, the pro-Israel incumbent Dan Goldman, to take a “people’s pledge” to limit money from super PACs. He has sent a steady stream of text and email blasts comparing AIPAC with Wall Street and crypto — a new, unholy trinity of corrupting influences in democratic politics.

What are your opinions on regular drinking?

It depends on how it affects you. What you described matches more what I get from coffee (I don’t drink coffee). I drink fairly regularly I guess. It gives a social boost, to the point of a semi-social sober person, in exchange for some clumsiness. Hangovers are rare and I’ve never forgotten something because of alcohol, so it feels more like a short-term enhancement. Obviously it’s bad long-term but, as with everything, if you don’t hurt anyone, you do you.
