The whole fragile construct of ethical disclosure sits on people/companies aknowledging it, playing along and not intentionally fucking it up. It is a cherished grape of vine that demonstrates - healthy tendencies do exist in our societies, we can sometimes communicate with each other and pursue a common good in spite of our destructive urges. Refusing to give a symbolical prize incomparable to the cost they could save, AMD and others mishandle the thing they treat as a given while completely unprepared to the state where it’s gone, just like a teenager thinking they’d top the game and lose virginity when/if zombie apocalypse happens.

It absolutely is being done by the other side. Assuming you’re describing the sides of Mossad, the CIA, the FSB, and the Guoanbu. No. Those guys are too busy influencing the Republicans and other right wing parties in the west. Although, i wouldn’t be surprised if they used similar tactics, like massive bot nets and online propaganda to discourage the rest of the political spectrum from voting for other options. That said, I think you’re seriously underselling the impact of strikes, boycotts, and walk outs. That’s part of the democratic process. You can do that, and still vote for the lesser evil. Not because it’s right to vote for them, but to minimize suffering and make sure democracy still functions. Even voting for a different party would be preferable over not voting at all, despite your broken election system. At least that would give a statistical indication what people want from the government. Instead, you now got a government that is actively trying to undermine the election process, builds internment camps for immigrants, which might be extended to political opponents pretty soon, is actively supporting a bunch of nutjobs to take over half the middle east, strips the government from all its money, threatens its allies with military action, destroys what little social security and education you guys had left, and empowers a new generation of feudalists to take over whatever will be left of the US. If it doesn’t Balkanize before that… Meanwhile, your leftists are accusing everyone not supportive of their non-voting strategy to be “genociders”, and act surprised as to why they’re losing even more ground in the battle.

In a decision that Amnesty International described as “completely disproportionate,” four demonstrators with the outlawed group Palestine Action were sentenced as terrorists in the UK on Friday after being convicted for causing damage at an Israeli weapons factory in 2024 to protest the genocide in Gaza. Supporters of the so-called “Filton 4” were filmed crying and embracing outside Woolwich Crown Court in London as the judge, Mr Justice Jeremy Johnson, handed down sentences ranging from four years and eight months to seven years and eight months to the four young defendants. Charlotte Head, 30; Leona Kamio, 30; and Fatema Rajwani, 21, were convicted of criminal damage last month after a break-in at a factory in Bristol owned by the Israeli company Elbit Systems, where they smashed up over a dozen drones and other military equipment, causing around £1.2 million, or $1.6 million, of damage. A fourth defendant, 23-year-old Samuel Corner, was also convicted for the damage, as well as grievous bodily harm without intent for striking a policewoman on the scene with a sledgehammer, fracturing her spine. 🇬🇧 🇵🇸 Four Palestine Action Activists Sentenced as ‘Terrorists’ in UK Legal First Four activists who raided an Elbit Systems arms factory near Bristol in 2024 were sentenced as “terrorists” Friday at Woolwich Crown Court, in what supporters said is the first time UK protesters… pic.twitter.com/gC4MvAXfz4 — Drop Site (@DropSiteNews) June 12, 2026 In what has been described as a legal first for Britain, Johnson sentenced the four defendants as terrorists, although three had only been convicted of property damage. He did so under the Sentencing Act of 2020, which allows nonterrorism crimes to be treated as terrorism if they meet certain criteria. Elbit’s drones have been documented in use during attacks on civilians, including the April 2024 strike on a World Central Kitchen convoy that killed seven aid workers. Last month, 22-year-old Zoe Rogers, another activist who took part in the Elbit raid but was acquitted, said she believed that because of their sabotage of the drones, “innocent lives were saved” in Gaza. However, Johnson did not allow the defendants to explain the reason for their actions as part of the trial, nor were jurors informed that the defendants could later receive sentences for terrorism. Because the protesters had caused “serious damage to property” for the purpose of “advancing a political or ideological cause,” Johnson determined that the protesters could be sentenced as terrorists using the broad definition from the Terrorism Act 2000. The terrorism designation means that defendants will have to serve a minimum of two-thirds of their sentences in prison and will be required to register as terrorists with the police for the next 15 years. Attorneys for the defendants said they were not informed that their clients were at risk of being sentenced for terrorism and accused the prosecution of submitting key evidence, including a report on the cost of damage to the factory, “at the 59th minute of the eleventh hour," giving them little time to form a rebuttal. The defendants’ attorneys described the precedent that someone could be sentenced for terrorism after being convicted of a nonviolent offense as unprecedented and dangerous to speech. “It’s wrong for someone to be sentenced for a more serious offense of which they have not been convicted,” said Corner’s attorney, Tom Wainwright, who noted that similar measures could have been used to sentence earlier protest movements, like the suffragettes or other anti-war demonstrators who sabotaged military equipment, for terrorism simply because their actions had a political motivation. Head’s attorney, Rajiv Menon, described the attempt to sentence his client as unprecedented, and warned that it was “an invitation to chilling, creeping authoritarianism that undermines the very fabric of our society." After their conviction, Wainwright hailed the protesters as people of conscience: "[The drones] may have been involved in taking the lives of men, women, and children in Gaza. That is why they acted. That’s something that—in a sane world—would be commended.” In a post to social media following news of the conviction, Amnesty UK condemned the use of terrorism powers in this case. “It is completely disproportionate to punish protesters for criminal damage as if they were terrorists, a sentence which stays with you for life,” the human rights group said. More than 70 people were arrested for supporting the proscribed group Palestine Action outside Woolwich Crown Court. The arrests happened as four members of Palestine Action were sentenced over a separate incident. pic.twitter.com/kRkXEjbPFm — Channel 4 News (@Channel4News) June 12, 2026 The sentencing comes amid a broader crackdown in the UK against pro-Palestine speech and protest that has ramped up even under a Labour government, which has sought to label even peaceful demonstrations as terrorism. Following another case in which Palestine Action protesters vandalized military equipment—this time on a UK Royal Air Force base—the government of Prime Minister Keir Starmer in 2025 used the same terrorism law cited by Johnson to label the group as proscribed, effectively making it illegal to belong to it or publicly support it. Police have arrested numerous peaceful protesters for no other crime than holding signs that read: “I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action.” Amnesty said in May that more than 3,300 people had been arrested across the UK since the proscription took effect and that more than 1,200 protesters had been charged with terrorism-related offenses. Eight other Palestine Action activists, including four others who have been accused of involvement with the Elbit break-in, went on a lengthy hunger strike this past winter to protest their confinement in prison for more than a year without trial, during which time they alleged that they were denied needed medical care and had their communication with the outside world censored. Amnesty said the Filton 4 “were sentenced as terrorists because prosecutors want to make an example of them.” On Friday, as hundreds rallied outside the court against the terrorism sentence, more than 100 peaceful protesters were also arrested for allegedly supporting Palestine Action. A federal judge may have dealt the final blow to President Donald Trump’s $1.8 billion “weaponization fund” on Friday, indefinitely blocking it and ordering his administration to state unequivocally that it’s no longer happening. In the face of bipartisan backlash, acting Attorney General Todd Blanche had publicly backed off plans to use the money earlier this month, and a court temporarily blocked the transfer of the money to what opponents had dubbed a “slush fund” for Trump’s supporters, including January 6 rioters who claim to be victims of government “weaponization” by the Biden administration. But The Atlantic reported on Thursday that even as the US Department of Justice (DOJ) publicly swears that the payouts are dead, administration officials have been reassuring Trump’s cronies behind the scenes that they’ll get their checks and that the administration simply needs to wait for the legal blowback to die down or find an alternative way to award them the money, which was set to follow a DOJ-brokered settlement between Trump and his own Internal Revenue Service (IRS). That may prove more difficult after Friday, however, when US District Judge Leonie M. Brinkema issued a preliminary injunction indefinitely extending her previous two-week pause on the fund. She described the arrangement, to have taxpayer funds disbursed without court rulings to “an extremely small group” that many Americans feel engaged in “unacceptable” conduct, as “problematic.” The DOJ had attempted to have the case against the fund dismissed, arguing that it was now a moot point, since Blanche had publicly declared it dead. But Brinkema said, "The [government’s] mootness argument, in my view, doesn’t go anywhere.” While the DOJ stated that the fund has “not been set up and is now not going forward," Brinkema noted that Blanche had declined to state that under oath, while Trump has publicly continued to champion the fund even as his administration has backed away from it. During the hearing in the Eastern District of Virginia, Brinkema pressed DOJ lawyer Andrew Block on why, if the fund was truly defunct, the administration had not formally rescinded the order setting it up. He said he didn’t know. The judge gave Blanche, Associate Attorney General Stanley Woodward Jr., and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, whose department would have overseen the fund, one week to sign a “clear, unambiguous” declaration stating under penalty of perjury that the fund is dead, and wrote in the order that they must affirm that it “will not proceed in any manner, or under any name.” She said in order for the lawsuit to be thrown out, the government needed to put it in writing because “we don’t have the kind of absolute certainty that this fund wouldn’t rear its head.” CEO @SkyePerryman and Senior Counsel Pooja Boisture break down our major slush fund win from court. pic.twitter.com/ngneLRsl8R — Democracy Forward (@DemocracyFwd) June 12, 2026 Outside the courtroom, Skye Perryman, the president and CEO of Democracy Forward—the watchdog group that sued the DOJ—celebrated that the court had “put the brakes on Donald Trump’s slush fund.” The group is representing several plaintiffs who say they’d be harmed if the fund were to be enacted. They include a former federal prosecutor fired after leading January 6 cases; the city of New Haven, Connecticut, which has been targeted by the administration over its sanctuary policies; the National Abortion Federation, which says the fund could reward anti-abortion activists convicted of clinic-related offenses; and the watchdog group Common Cause, which argues that the opaque scheme could embolden January 6 defendants. “We were thrilled that the judge understood the significant harm that our clients face as a result of the fund, as well as the American people,” said Democracy Forward senior counsel Pooja Boisture. “We were thrilled that she got it right. She understood that this was not a partisan issue.” It remains unclear whether the order would stop the administration from pursuing other methods for rewarding Trump’s allies. Reuters reported on Friday that his legal allies have discussed dusting off a 1946 law called the Federal Tort Claims Act, which would allow individuals to file administrative claims and lawsuits that could be settled out of court with a lot of flexibility for the government. “The Trump administration cannot be trusted with the public’s money,” said Omar Noureldin, Common Cause’s senior vice president for policy and litigation. "We’ve successfully locked the president’s personal slush fund for now, and we’ll keep the pressure on until it’s shut down for good.” From Common Dreams via This RSS Feed.

Beloved Party For Socialism and Liberation member and volunteer with Nuestro Barrio Liberation Center, Thomas Crowe-Allbritton, passed away on Friday morning, June 5th, 2026. A community organizer for much of his life, Thomas dedicated himself to building the PSL in North Carolina. He lived in Durham at the time of his death, where he was a much-loved member of the Triangle Branch. Born in Dothan, Alabama, Thomas moved all across the South, witnessing firsthand how, in his words, “beautiful souls are crushed” by capitalism. He spent much of his youth in Oxford, North Carolina (he would later joke about dreaming of one day moving to “the big city,” Durham). At 14 years old, Thomas was diagnosed with epithelioid hemangioendothelioma, also known as EHE, a rare form of cancer that affects the blood vessels and bone marrow. Tests revealed three tumors in his skull, two in his spine, and that the blood vessels in his lungs were covered with bean-sized tumors. In the years following, Thomas went through round after round of treatment and chemotherapy while navigating the expensive and insufficient U.S. healthcare system. He was thrown off Medicaid twice while on treatment and later stopped treatment altogether due to not being able to afford the thousands of dollars of monthly costs. Amid these immense health challenges, Thomas poured into his community and vowed to spend his life fighting for a system in which every person lives in dignity. “The diagnosis forced me to take a look at myself and see what I’m doing with my life,” he said. “I don’t know how long I have because it’s such a rare cancer. I might have it for the rest of my life and live healthy. I might die when I’m 30. It’s important that I focus on the time I have now and do as much as I can for others.” After graduating high school, Thomas studied history at UNC Pembroke. He immersed himself in campus life and student organizing, serving as the Student Government Association President and a proud member of the Eta Beta Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. His time in Pembroke was heavily politicized by social justice movements, from the struggle against the Atlantic Coast Pipeline’s construction through Lumbee lands to the Black Lives Matter uprisings that led to protests and racial confrontations in Pembroke. Despite online threats from white supremacists and being flashed a gun at a BLM protest in Pembroke, Thomas never retreated from his deep convictions for justice for all working and oppressed people. Thomas at BLM Protest at Pembroke June 26th, 2020 Always with a thick book in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other, Thomas had a passion for learning and educating. After graduating from UNC Pembroke, he pursued a master’s degree in public policy at Duke. He got involved in student and community organizing through joining the Duke Graduate Student Union, interning at Democracy North Carolina, and leading Changed Paths, a mutual aid project in East Durham. Through his historical study, experience in labor organizing and mutual aid, participation in the mass movement for the liberation of Palestine, and through his personal battle with the U.S. healthcare system, Thomas formed a deep understanding that something is fundamentally wrong with the system that dominates our world and puts profit over people at every turn. Determined to change the world, Thomas joined the Party for Socialism and Liberation in November 2024. He threw himself into the party, traveling across North Carolina to support local struggles and build class consciousness. Thomas was a key organizer against the anti-immigrant bill SB-153, helping lead press conferences, protests, and outreach sessions. In Durham, Thomas helped defeat developers’ efforts to rezone Heritage Square by canvassing and delivering fiery speeches at City Council meetings. He facilitated popular education on topics from fair housing to imperialism. In Fayetteville, he supported comrades waging a fight against a dangerous curfew policy targeting Black youth. Throughout his time in the PSL, Thomas held a deep belief in the working class. He would talk to anyone and saw potential in everyone. He often cited the words of Rev. Dr. Sam Wells on the importance of being with people rather than working for them. Thomas speaking at a protest against Border Patrol Deployment to Charlotte Nov 16th, 2025 In his final months, Thomas refused to let his failing health stop him from fighting for the liberation of working people in North Carolina and across the globe. When the Trump Administration sent Border Patrol to Charlotte in November of 2025, Thomas helped lead a march at the state capitol, where he called out the Democratic Party in NC for welcoming ICE with open arms. At Nuestro Barrio Liberation Center, he coordinated screenings of the People’s Forum Hidden Histories of Rebellion course, introducing dozens of new people to an untold history of the United States. Just this past March, Thomas traveled to Wilmington, NC after the murder of 21-year-old Edilberto Espinoza-Sierra by Wilmington Police. He supported local protests, did outreach to spread the word, and connected with Edilberto’s family to uplift their story. Thomas was also a proud union organizer with the Union of Southern Service Workers. At USSW, he built deep relationships with workers at Amazon, Duke University and Hospital, and in the service and hospitality sector. It would be difficult to find a Marco’s Pizza or a Bojangles in Durham that didn’t hear Thomas’s Alabama twang asking workers, “They workin y’all to death out here!” Or his signature “how you living off only $10hr in Durham?!” Even after flare-ups would put him back in the hospital, Thomas would preach to the night-shift nurses and convince them to sign the Durham Rising petition. Everywhere Thomas went, he was a servant of the people. Whether it was handing out food, building homes with Habitat, organizing workplaces, or his vigorous research and study of history to learn how to win a society where everyone has the right to a dignified life, Thomas was a champion of humanity who inspired thousands of people across North Carolina. His example of self-sacrifice, genuineness, and devotion to learning is what we should all aspire to. Rest in peace and power to our dear comrade, Thomas Crowe-Allbritton.

Hello fediferse, I was wondering, if I ever want to delete a post or an account on a service that uses ActivityPub, like Mastodon or Pixelfed, is it going to persist across the fediverse? Let’s say I made a political post on Mastodon using a profile with my real name and picture and I need to travel to the U.S. for work purposes and I don’t want the CBP to find out about it and get turned back or arrested on entry. If I delete this post, will it be completely removed across all instances that synchronized it? Is a deleted post traceable in any way? Is it kept in a log or a database on ferdiverse instances? With governments across the globe increasingly surveiling us online and scrutinizing everything we say, I’m starting to think I should plainly delete any account that has personally identifiable information like my real name and photo. I initially thought it would be easier to connect with family and friends, but now I’m growing increasingly worried about how this can be used against me. I just want to know if I can completely erase any post or any account from the fediverse or if there will always be a trace somewhere and it could get picked up by any government surveilance. Whether encrypted or not.

Nothing to apologize for, you were clear enough that the question was about where OP got the newspaper, I was just talking about the aside within the question (which is why I quoted exactly that part and not the rest). Sorry, I think I’m getting needlessly hung up on minor details. Also for accidentally piling on with this quibble, since I didn’t see the reply a minute before saying the same thing.

I want to buy a new keyboard. My use case for this particular keyboard will be as what you might consider a tertiary keyboard. I do not need a new primary keyboard that I spend most of my time with on my main computer. I also do not need a new secondary keyboard to keep at my other workstation that I interact with often when not using my primary workstation. What I need is a keyboard that will be my go-to for miscellaneous tasks. When I need to plug into some server temporarily, I want to use this keyboard. When I need to set up a new computer that will later be used by another user with a “normal” keyboard, I want to use this keyboard. Currently, I use a basic office keyboard for this task. I can move it from computer to computer, and it works reliably for these occasional miscellaneous tasks. But after having switched to using split ergo as my primary/secondary keyboards, using this traditional keyboard even occasionally does feel off. If I can, I would like a split ergo that can fill this use case. This means I want a few specifications that are not common for split ergonomic keyboards: Unibody. I will often not be using this keyboard at a desk or other optimal position. As such, having two halves to the keyboard can be cumbersome. I might be just resting the keyboard on my knee or something for a few minutes while I type on it. For this purpose, it would be simpler to have a keyboard that is just one single unit with one single cable. 100%. Most split ergos have just a few dozen keys. This makes sense for a keyboard that I am going to use often and can memorize the layout and all the various layers. But this is a keyboard that I plan to only use occasionally. As such, I want to be able to look at the keys to hunt/peck if I need. I do not want to have to remember what sequence of keys is used to press Alt+F4. I want to look at the keyboard, find the key that is labelled Alt, find the key that is labelled F4, and press those two keys. There are also a few other relevant specs that it seems are very common, but I wanted to mention them anyway: USB C. Preferably, a detachable USB C cable. I do not mind if the keyboard also has Bluetooth/2.4GHz. That will not be a problem if it has the feature, I will just almost certainly never use it. With that said, not needing a battery generally has a list of pros (smaller, lighter, cheaper, etc.). Ortholinear. The big thing that I am trying to get away from here with my current keyboard is its staggered key layout. Swappable caps. I want to be able to have this keyboard clearly labelled in Colemak layout. VIA compatible. At the very least, I should be able to reprogram keys somehow. QMK, ZMK, whatever. Can you think of any suggestions of a good keyboard that fits these requirements? I came across a few that seem like they might fit: Kinesis Advantage2 $399 https://kinesis-ergo.com/keyboards/advantage2-keyboard/ Truly Ergonomic CLEAVE $299 https://trulyergonomic.com/mechanical-keyboards/products/cleave-truly-ergonomic-mechanical-switch-keyboard/ Hazel Cut Slope https://shop.hazel.cc/products/cut-slope ErgoHaven Planeta https://ergohaven.xyz/shop/tproduct/339856256-880659810681-planeta

many years ago, i lived near this BK and at the time they were doing this promotional thing where you could get their low-budget chicken nuggets… like 10 for $5. as a raccoon-style biped, i eat all kinds of questionable things just because they are near my hands, fit into my mouth, and smell OK. but those absolutely devastated my insides like nothing had, before or since. i remember a few hours after eating them i felt sleepy and kind of chilly. i went to bed early and got under the blankets. i woke up 45 minutes later and felt what i can only describe as a sense of overwhelming doom. not even queasy… just existentially, imminently doomed. like everything in the world was dutch-angled and maybe i was about to have an aneurysm or some other catastrophic cerebral event. one of my tactics of self-soothing is to take a warm shower, thank christ. within 10 minutes i was violently exploding from both ends simultaneously. i was so relieved to realize it was “just” acute food poisoning. it’s been years since i’ve had fast food, lol. not because i think i am too good for it. clearly, it is stronger than i am. i know when i am beaten.
