Warriors in Dark Souls 2 have such a lame mid-game compared to mages

Because I am the kind of wizard that will find the most efficient mana-per-damage spell in my arsenal and sling that almost exclusively. I can’t remember many RPGs where this is discouraged. Only the first two Dark Souls games but the first DS doesn’t have enough spells for it to actually change things so DS2 ends up being the only such game. I also learned today for the first time ever that you can dual wield powerstance a pair of crossbows. There’s actually one scripted invader in Tseldora who dual wields two avelyns. In a hell of a place too. a mediocre katana is still head and shoulders above most other weapons. I’m not a huge fan of katanas because of their annoying diagonal attacks that miss small/moving targets a lot. I much prefer wide horizontal swings combined with either a thrust or a top-down crush as a strong attack. I believe she upgrades one more time to unlimited chunks after you beat Watcher and Defender. Now that you have the King’s Ring in your pocket I think you can go fight them right now and just get that out of the way. That will be my next target then! Aldia’s Keep is behind me now and the Crypt is cleared of its treasures. Souls of Gwyn and Nito are also on me but the other two proved to be a bit harder (Freya mostly thanks to the runback to it; the boss’s easy). I also ascended the Crypt bonfire as I want to get the best royal soldier ring. Almost killed Velstadt and then he one-shotted me with a lucky move. Twin Pursuers is another of my NG+ goals but that will be really hard haha.

Every friday night. I would order two large pepperoni stuffed crust pizzas and two large Caesar salads from Pizza Hut. I would sign into WoW and start raiding eat one half of one salad and somewhere between one half and three quarters of one of the pizzas. By Monday, all the food would be gone, I would only have slept about six to eight hours in total over the weekend.

Cuba opens more sectors to private business

Havana (AFP) – Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Friday announced greater freedoms for small businesses across the country, as the communist government takes steps to liberalize the island’s economy in the face of a crippling US blockade. In a speech broadcast on national television, Diaz-Canel said Cuba would open more sectors to private businesses and streamline the approval process for new ventures. “For non-state forms of management, the list of prohibited activities will be limited so that their scope of operations is as broad as possible,” the president said. “A process is underway… to approve all pending applications in the shortest time possible.” Under pressure from the oil blockade imposed by Washington in January, the Cuban government has unveiled a series of reforms aimed at opening up the economy. Private businesses — which can employ up to 100 people — were authorized in 2021 and have become an increasingly important part of Cuba’s economy. Since February, they have been permitted to import fuel, a sector previously controlled exclusively by the state. As part of the new measures, the government will enable private businesses to invest in the economy on equal terms with foreign investors, after some of them recently left the country amid concerns over US sanctions. Diaz-Canel said the government was also considering scrapping state intermediaries in import and export operations. The president reiterated his commitment to decentralizing the economy and granting greater autonomy to state-owned enterprises, which account for roughly 80 percent of economic activity. He also announced an overhaul of the state bureaucracy that would reduce the number of ministries and trim the the state workforce, a plan that requires parliamentary approval in July. Diaz-Canel assured that the new reforms “will soon be discussed and approved very swiftly.” He also sought to project confidence despite the country’s mounting economic difficulties. “The country is not paralyzed; the country is facing this situation intelligently,” the president said, denouncing what he described as a “maximum pressure” policy from Washington. In addition to the oil blockade, the United States has imposed a range of sanctions on Cuba. The measures have further aggravated the economic, social and energy crises that have gripped the island for years despite its decades-long struggle against a US embargo dating back to 1962.

World's first gig economy treaty adopted at the ILO

Geneva (AFP) – The first-ever international agreement on safeguarding digital platform workers in the gig economy was adopted on Friday at the UN’s International Labour Organization. The Decent Work in the Platform Economy Convention is aimed at extending labour protections to hundreds of millions of people worldwide who work through digital platforms, in areas like food delivery and car services. The convention applies to “all digital labour platforms” and “all digital platform workers… whether they are in the formal or informal economy”, according to the text adopted by ILO members. Until now, labour practices have struggled to keep pace with the dramatic shifts in the way people work. The World Bank estimated in 2023 there were up to 435 million online gig workers around the globe who had largely fallen outside regular labour protections. Companies behind the apps control the gig work via algorithms that assign tasks, set pay, evaluate performance and even fire workers. Despite largely controlling the tasks and pay, the platforms typically classify the workers as independent contractors rather than employees. This allows them in many cases to ignore things like minimum wage requirements, workplace safety and access to social security. “The ILO now has the first convention that focuses on the impact of digitalisation in the world of work,” said the UN labour agency’s chief Gilbert Houngbo. …

To see Venus and Jupiter together this month, you won’t need binoculars or even a telescope. Just look up after sunset and you’ll find them emerging as the sky grows dark near the western horizon. In fact, on June 9 the two brightest planets were in close conjunction, separated on the sky by less than 2 degrees from our perspective. Since (brighter) inner planet Venus orbits the Sun faster than outer planet Jupiter, it catches up with and passes the outer planet along the ecliptic roughly every 13 months. But every three years or so their resulting conjunction can be viewed far enough from the Sun to be easily seen in Earth’s twilight skies. On June 9, the two celestial beacon’s close “cosmic kiss” was captured here next to the two large standing stones at the cove within a 4,000 year old stone circle at Avebury, UK. Larger than Stonehenge, the Avebury henge and stone circle complex is also recognized as one of the most significant neolithic ceremonial sites on planet Earth. Source>

Iran’s Top Commander Warns US Over ‘Futile Cycle’ of Lies, Contradiction

The commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters has warned the US over a “false and futile cycle” of lies and contradictions in its behavior, after Washington first threatened to strike Iranian energy infrastructure and then claimed negotiations had been approved. “The United States, on one hand, speaks of agreement and negotiation, and on the other hand commits villainy,” Major General Ali Abdollahi said in a statement on Thursday. His warning came after President Donald Trump first threatened to “hit Iran VERY HARD TONIGHT” and seize Kharg Island, then hours later announced he had “cancelled the scheduled strikes and bombings against Iran,” claiming negotiations had been “brought to the highest level of Iranian leadership and approved.” “This clear contradiction in America’s behavior and words is the main cause of insecurity in the region and has jeopardized the security of international trade and economies, especially the Strait of Hormuz,” General Abdollahi said. On Wednesday night, the United States launched airstrikes on several locations in Iran’s southern Hormozgan province, including the cities of Jask and Sirik and Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump declared on Thursday that “at some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points, and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets”, only to announce later he had cancelled planned bombings. In Tehran, Fars news agency cited what it described as a source close to Iran’s negotiating team as saying that no text of an initial memorandum of understanding with the US has been confirmed. Abdollahi said US leaders, due to a “lack of proper understanding of the honorable and courageous Iranian nation and its powerful armed forces, are following a false and futile cycle”. He added that America’s repeated lies are among the signs of this cycle, and that Washington can never compensate for its “successive defeats and humiliations” through propaganda and media warfare. The commander warned that if the United States carries out further attacks against Iran, “the fire of war will become widespread and larger, in addition to insecurity in the region”. “If the United States again wishes to carry out attacks against heroic Iran, it will receive a stronger response than before,” General Abdollahi warned. “With regard to recent US threats against Iran’s oil infrastructure, it is announced that either oil and gas exports will be available to everyone, or no one will have access to them.” Abdollahi’s “oil for all or none” warning carries significant weight given that approximately 20% of the world’s oil transits the Strait of Hormuz. Trump Claims that US Will Hit Iran ‘Very Hard’ as US Forces in Region Are Struck Separately, Iran’s Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics issued a statement marking the first anniversary of the “12-day war” – which Iran calls the “Second Imposed War” – the initial phase of U.S.-Israeli aggression that began on June 23, 2025. Participants gather each night waving Iranian flags and chanting in support of the armed forces and the new Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, with many vowing to remain on the streets until the country’s enemies are defeated. “Any miscalculation or aggression against the country’s security and territorial integrity will be met with a decisive, regrettable response far beyond the enemy’s flawed imagination,” the ministry warned. With Linux Mint, I haven’t had to install any drivers for printers in the last few years. Your mileage may vary. Remember that you can boot to a Linux Mint USB stick to try it out, and just remove the stick and reboot to go back to Windows, afterwards.
