Roblox seems to be inflating user numbers again

I’ve just had an email from Roblox talking about changes to the parental controls. It looks more like they’re forcing parents to create accounts, presumably to inflate user numbers going by the news stories two weeks ago. The email text is below. 'Dear parent, We’ve been working on a series of important changes that we’ll be making to your child’s account, (account name), next month. About Roblox accounts with parent privileges Next month, we’re changing the way parents manage their child’s experience on Roblox by introducing Roblox accounts with parent privileges. After linking your account to your child’s, parents can view and update parental controls for their child all from their own device. Parents also get access to insights about their child’s Roblox usage, such as their daily screen time and on-platform friends. Given these changes, starting next month, parents will no longer be able to set a parent PIN, use Account Restrictions, or receive account-related notifications to their parental email. Instead, you will need to use an account with parent privileges. Existing verified parental emails on child accounts will continue to be used for account recovery. Any settings previously set using a parent PIN will not change, but you will need an account with parent privileges to make updates going forward. As always, if users are interested in an added layer of security on their account, you can set up 2-factor authentication. Updated content maturity settings As we shared with the community in July, to help provide parents and users more clarity into the types of content available on Roblox, we’ll soon begin labeling experiences based on the type of content users can expect in an experience, rather than by age. Experience Guidelines will be renamed Content Labels, and you’ll be able to set limits on the type of content accessible to your child through the content maturity setting in parental controls. New default settings for users under the age of 13 As part of Roblox’s commitment to safety, we are also updating certain default settings for our youngest users. Starting next month, users under the age of 13 will need parent permission to access certain chat features. Users under the age of 9 will also need parent permission to access experiences with content maturity “Moderate,” which may contain things like moderate violence or moderate crude humor. Your child’s settings will be updated when they reach certain ages, if you and your child haven’t previously made changes to them. You and your child will be notified of these updates in advance. We will share more information on these setting updates when the changes go into effect next month. Next steps To continue receiving notifications about your child’s account related to spending or other important activity, you’ll need to set up a Roblox account with parent privileges and link to your child’s account. When these changes take effect, your child will receive a notification inviting them to add a linked parent account, and we’ll send you an email with instructions. Since day one, Roblox has been committed to building safety features and tools into the design of our products. should I completely jumpship to linux when windows 10 ends support/am ready or dualboot ltsc and linux

Which is the better option + spinning a vm is possible and ltsc the only issue is I have to repirte a windows license for ltsc(and according to Microsoft ltsc was mostly designed for embedded systems) thanks for any help and I decided to post it on the linux community bcs I couldn’t find a suitable place to post it and this is related to linux but man I love linux tho and if I go with the jumpship method I have to sadly leave some games behind like roblox (it’s fine due to some moderation issues bad games etc etc but ngl its a fun game ik sober exists but i kinda dont wanna use a android emulator to play roblox i could use it since its our only option for linux and also i need to wait some time for my affinity subscription to end orrrr i try running it on bottles/wine again) Edit: I have delete roblox due to 2 reasons one to ease deleting windows and their management Edit 2: i might test first If I ever boot into my windows disk to see if I need it anymore

sorry to let you in on this but the Goku/Luffy archetype of shōnen protagonists would be entirely iPad-addicted if they grew up in Biden's America

they would have to give Luffy so much fucking adderall to stave him off from immediately playing .io games on his chromebook in class that Makino would have to haggle on the phone for hours with insurance to get their prescribed dosage. Goku would be solely playing either Roblox tournament games or Fortnite depending on the day. Deku would be glued to a TikTok FYP showing him content farm AI-voice All Might fight recaps. Gon would be watching IShowSpeed and doing nothing but spamming Ws in chat.

Is there a alternative platform to roblox for players and gamedevs?

If you tie yourself to a commercial platform, it’s gonna take advantage of you. That’s how they make money. So, I would also recommend using an open-source game engine like Godot and then distributing on multiple platforms. The closest open-source thing to the Roblox model, that I can think of, is Luanti, which is basically a game engine and distribution platform for Minecraft-like games. Don’t expect to make money off of it, though.

Well, you all can make fun of it all you want, but my wife’s boyfriend set up my Roblox account so I can play the 17+ games and he even bought me Robux so I could give my character a sword. Sounds to me like you’re all jealous.

So there’s a Blender like CAD environment tied to a scripting language for those open source Minecraft clones that let you pick and place assets from a menu and then add code? Every Roblox install installs this development tool. It’s ridiculous to compare it to the java programming needed to make a Minecraft mod. And when you are done you hit “publish” and it uploads it to their servers ready for everyone to play.
