Star vs. the Forces of Evil Plot description from English Wikipedia: Star Butterfly is a magical princess from the dimension of Mewni and the heiress to the royal throne of the Butterfly Kingdom. By tradition, she is given her family’s heirloom wand on her 14th birthday and was known to be the most energetic and silly child through the royal family. After she accidentally sets fire to the family castle, her parents, King River and Queen Moon Butterfly, decide that a safer option is to send her to Earth as a foreign exchange student so that she can continue her magic training there. On Earth, Star befriends student Marco Diaz and lives with his family in suburban Los Angeles while attending Echo Creek Academy. Going on a series of misadventures using “dimensional scissors” with the ability to open portals, Star and Marco must deal with everyday school life while protecting Star’s wand from falling into the hands of Ludo, a half-bird, half-man creature from Mewni who commands a group of monsters. Tonight’s segments are: “St. Olga’s Reform School for Wayward Princesses” — I’ve been looking forward to this one: Star and Marco go to St. Olga’s Reform School for Wayward Princesses to bust out Pony Head. Yes, “Mewnipendance” is spelled with an A. “The Banagic Incident” — Star is impressed by a commercial for a “magical” Earth product called a Banagic Wand, and goes into town by herself to buy it. But things don’t go to plan! “Interdimensional Field Trip” — Star takes the class on a field trip to a parallel dimension. Pretty descriptive title! “Marco Grows a Beard” — Marco wants to grow a beard to impress Jackie Lynn Thomas, but the beard-growing spell that Star casts causes a bit of trouble, as the beard won’t stop growing and ends up flooding the whole house with hair. Uma Musume: Pretty Derby Uma Musume: Pretty Derby’s three seasons chronicle the races of “Team Spica” in a fictional universe where “uma-musume” (or just “uma”), who are racehorses from our reality reincarnated as horse-eared-and-tailed anime girls, live side by side with regular humans. The umas compete in, essentially, track and field, and the winners of the races get to put on idol concerts for their fans. Pretty Derby season 1 (2018) centers specifically on the bright-eyed uma Special Week, a humble country gal from rural {Ainu Mosir|(Hokkaido)} who idolizes her fellow uma Silence Suzuka. Special Week has now just enrolled at the elite Tracen Academy for aspiring uma-musume racers, with big dreams of doing her late mother proud by winning the Twinkle Series and becoming the best uma-musume racer in Japan. More specifically, the animation studio in question is located in Glendale, Los Angeles County, near the historical Tongva villages of Wiqanga, Tujunga, Hahamongna, Ashwaangna, and Maungna, between the Verdugo and Santa Monica mountains whose springs had long provided fresh water for the Tongva. The streets of Los Angeles were built by the slave labor of Tongva people arrested by settler police for “vagrancy and public drunkenness” after Seppoland annexed Tovaangar without treaty. The Tongva people today are still unrecognized by the governments of California and Seppoland, while the California Natives who did sign treaties with Seppoland never had those treaties ratified. Tongva people still exist and still live in Tovaangar today. The Tongva still fight, as they have for centuries, to exercise their sovereignty over their homeland and resources. The Tongva are not a monolith nor in any way static: they are stratified by class like any other nation under capitalism; they adapt new technologies to their needs like any other nation; and also like any other nation, they have individual members intersected by every axis of oppression and each with their own individual perspectives. Horse racing, as well as the Uma Musume tie-in video game, finance themselves by vampirizing people’s wallets through gambling: corporations exploiting human psychology to create a highly addictive waste of your time and money. Don’t be a sucker! Don’t buy gachas! Don’t bet on horses! Don’t give your money to animal abusers! Your money is better spent on ending the cruel practice of horse racing. The only acceptable amount to spend on gambling is zero. Treatments for problem gambling are effective. Piracy does not exempt us from contributing to Uma Musume’s profit. An illustrative example of how Uma Musume sanitizes the cruelty of horse racing: the real-life stallion Silence Suzuka was euthanized for an entirely preventable terminal leg fracture suffered at the 1998 Tennô Shô. The anime character based on his likeness is saved by Special Week and is able to return to the racecourse a few episodes later. Real-life horse racing is full of deaths and injuries to the point it could be called public execution of fellow creatures. Horses did not evolve to have people on their backs. Horses do not have a choice in whether they run or not. Some facts about horse racing: Every week on average, 24 horses experience fatal breakdowns at racetracks across Seppoland. Whip use is standard practice in Seppoland, and it can be exactly as injurious for horses as for people. Imagine bleeding from your eye. Top trainers and jockeys also use illegal electro-shock devices. Racehorses are so overextended that they start bleeding from their lungs. These horses are called “bleeders” in the industry and put on drug cocktails to mask their injuries. Racehorses also commonly develop arthritis from racing. Thoroughbreds are highly inbred, and as a result have fragile bones and other health issues. Trainers only “love their horses” on camera. Racehorses have no-one committed to them throughout their lifetime and frequently switch owners. Each year, an estimated 10,000 Seppolandic Thoroughbreds are sent to Canada and Mexico for slaughter. Today’s game is Jedi Fallen Order again. I made it really far today. I have to suspect I’m close to the end with how far I am. Then again maybe this game is freakishly long. I scaled the origin tree or whatever it’s called and saw this absolutely gorgeous bird-looking thing. I wish they were real as I absolutely want to pet one. The feathers look so damn soft. I like that it turned out to be friendly too. I absolutely did not want to have to fight this thing. There was also this arena segment. Which I really loved. I honestly wish this was a little bit longer because I was enjoying myself here. Plus the music track that accompanied it was great. I made it as far as the Ninth Sister fight, where I got stuck. I gave it a few honest tries and decided I’d approach it again tomorrow. From there I think I’ll stand a better chance.

New defence secretary Dan Jarvis has previously received around half a million pounds in donations from corporate lobbyists. So, as mainstream media outlets say the Labour right-winger “once looked like the future” and “is a fine choice“, let’s look into the dark money that’s been fuelling his political career. Jarvis and his local Labour Party in Barnsley have done such an awful job at countering Tory damage to the town in recent decades that it turned to Reform in the 2026 local elections. And when you look at where Jarvis’s funds come from, you can understand why the people of Barnsley might not exactly be his top political priority. 1 — Labour Together millionaires One major source of donations to Jarvis has been key Labour Together donor Martin Taylor. Taylor runs a hedge fund that invests in private healthcare. Fellow Labour Together donor and proud pro-Israel lobbyist Trevor Chinn also gave thousands of pounds to Jarvis. It seems likely that such support was at least in part because Jarvis was a parliamentary supporter of Labour Friends of Israel who even received money from the lobby group. Labour Together was a prominent vehicle for undermining Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership of the Labour Party and forcing vacuous corporate lackey Keir Starmer onto the country. Other beneficiaries of money from Labour Together or its donors have included high-profile cronies such as Yvette Cooper, Wes Streeting, David Lammy, Shabana Mahmood, and Rachel Reeves. 2 — The “multimillionaire recruitment tycoon” with interests in private healthcare EveryDoctor explains that “multimillionaire recruitment tycoon Peter Hearn“: made his fortune through recruitment firms PSD and Odgers Berndtson Odgers Group Limited, where he resigned as a director in 2025, has offered: headhunting services to the NHS as well as the private healthcare sector. The firm has faced criticism for some of the senior executives it has helped recruit to the NHS. Former TalkTalk executive Dido Harding was headhunted by Odgers Berndtson to lead the NHS Test and Trace programme during the pandemic, which was later deemed to be ineffective by MPs. A fellow director at Odgers was Tory peer Virginia Bottomley. While Hearn clearly has a massive soft spot for Labour right-wingers Wes Streeting and Yvette Cooper, Dan Jarvis has been the other key recipient of Hearn’s money. They’ve all received money from Hearn’s OPD Group and MPM Connect Ltd. Labour campaign group Momentum once called MPM “dark money“, and Sky reported that: The company has no staff or website and is registered at an office in Hertfordshire where the secretary says she has never heard of them. EveryDoctor says Hearn’s OPD Group also “provides services to the NHS“. With Dan Jarvis, the lobby’s grip on government continues In 2016, Blairite strategist John McTernan said Jarvis: so clearly wants to be Leader of the Labour Party. Many on the right of the party mentioned his name “as a potential challenger to Jeremy Corbyn” early into Corbyn’s time as leader, with some of them even seeing him as “the party’s greatest hope“. Jarvis also reportedly had links to Blue Labour, whose whole argument is basically that Labour should be ‘more conservative‘. Jarvis has largely remained quiet in the last ten years, just accumulating corporate money and doing little of note for people in his constituency. But his move into the role of defence secretary may be a sign that his star on the Labour right is rising yet again. Considering that lobbyists’ empty vessel Keir Starmer has pushed Labour far to the right as leader, it’s unsurprising that Dan Jarvis fits neatly into the project. The question now is, exactly how much will Jarvis’s deep links to the corporate lobby influence Ministry of Defence policy at a time of already increasing military spending? The Canary upsets all the right people. Particularly, it seems, in print. The far-right hate peddler known as ‘Tommy Robinson’ has got a bit upset at being called out on a Canary front page for his part in inciting white-supremacist violence in Belfast. And in his annoyance, he gave the Canary some accidental free advertising: He doesn’t have a leg to stand on about the ‘smear’, legally speaking. Truth is an absolute defence and libel requires damage to reputation, while his — and no doubt his income — depends on his supporters seeing him inciting. And even in the UK’s corrupt justice system, there’s no way to say evil like this isn’t inciting: The whole of the United Kingdom is hitting the streets tonight at 7pm following yet another invader attack on our people. The anger and anxiety over electricity in America is palpable. You can see it in packed utility commission hearings, in protests against companies, and in furious reactions on social media. *And you can see it in the polling. Across poll after poll, more people are saying that they can’t afford their bills and they think utilities need to change how they make money. And they are also very cynical about data centers. * So will this be the push utilities need to finally change the way utilities pay for infrastructure? This week, we dig into three indicators. First: 75% of Americans say their home energy costs have gone up, and a quarter of Americans now consider utility bills unaffordable. Second: 86% of California voters said executive pay should be tied to affordability. And third: 71% of Americans would now oppose a data center being built near their home, a 49-point swing in less than a year.

The last set I bought and used was Dark Vengeance. I started with AoBR and immediately fell in love with Orks. L I did buy Leviathan, but life got in the way and I ended up donating it to a local school club. My son is a bit older now, so I think I have the time to get back into the hobby. Orks being in this box is perfect for me. The addition of contrast/speed paints really excites me, should make even my terrible paint skills look reasonable on the table. I’ve bought some black and grey spray. Some speed/contrast paints, some brushes, some clippers, some sand paper and a knife. Not sure the point of this post, other than to say hi and that I’m excited to be back. Any recommended purchases that I’ve probably overlooked?
