Depends on the amount of money they have. Studies have shown that women tend to get much lighter sentences. And you got to consider how unoften they get reported.

Third language as you can tell, I hope. I did this for my personal diary when I was in the psych ward Except RTL, some nonsense words as sentence padding, and random roman alphabet characters here and there where appropriate Took forever to write a few paragraphs, because I had to pre-memorize cyrillic going in and immediately write a-z in a random middle page once checked in. Also took forever to read back to myself. I really needed to be in that psych ward.

You could post in comradeship/freechat, post your personal opinions on what you post, and ask for criticism on the op and your opinions. It could get confusing or it could clarify, but by all means, post. Part of a line of thought may be good or worth revising, while another part may need to be discarded, yet another may be solid. We learn and grow by discussion, sometimes lively.

Havana (AFP) – Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Friday announced greater freedoms for small businesses across the country, as the communist government takes steps to liberalize the island’s economy in the face of a crippling US blockade. In a speech broadcast on national television, Diaz-Canel said Cuba would open more sectors to private businesses and streamline the approval process for new ventures. “For non-state forms of management, the list of prohibited activities will be limited so that their scope of operations is as broad as possible,” the president said. “A process is underway… to approve all pending applications in the shortest time possible.” Under pressure from the oil blockade imposed by Washington in January, the Cuban government has unveiled a series of reforms aimed at opening up the economy. Private businesses — which can employ up to 100 people — were authorized in 2021 and have become an increasingly important part of Cuba’s economy. Since February, they have been permitted to import fuel, a sector previously controlled exclusively by the state. As part of the new measures, the government will enable private businesses to invest in the economy on equal terms with foreign investors, after some of them recently left the country amid concerns over US sanctions. Diaz-Canel said the government was also considering scrapping state intermediaries in import and export operations. The president reiterated his commitment to decentralizing the economy and granting greater autonomy to state-owned enterprises, which account for roughly 80 percent of economic activity. He also announced an overhaul of the state bureaucracy that would reduce the number of ministries and trim the the state workforce, a plan that requires parliamentary approval in July. Diaz-Canel assured that the new reforms “will soon be discussed and approved very swiftly.” He also sought to project confidence despite the country’s mounting economic difficulties. “The country is not paralyzed; the country is facing this situation intelligently,” the president said, denouncing what he described as a “maximum pressure” policy from Washington. In addition to the oil blockade, the United States has imposed a range of sanctions on Cuba. The measures have further aggravated the economic, social and energy crises that have gripped the island for years despite its decades-long struggle against a US embargo dating back to 1962.

Geneva (AFP) – The first-ever international agreement on safeguarding digital platform workers in the gig economy was adopted on Friday at the UN’s International Labour Organization. The Decent Work in the Platform Economy Convention is aimed at extending labour protections to hundreds of millions of people worldwide who work through digital platforms, in areas like food delivery and car services. The convention applies to “all digital labour platforms” and “all digital platform workers… whether they are in the formal or informal economy”, according to the text adopted by ILO members. Until now, labour practices have struggled to keep pace with the dramatic shifts in the way people work. The World Bank estimated in 2023 there were up to 435 million online gig workers around the globe who had largely fallen outside regular labour protections. Companies behind the apps control the gig work via algorithms that assign tasks, set pay, evaluate performance and even fire workers. Despite largely controlling the tasks and pay, the platforms typically classify the workers as independent contractors rather than employees. This allows them in many cases to ignore things like minimum wage requirements, workplace safety and access to social security. “The ILO now has the first convention that focuses on the impact of digitalisation in the world of work,” said the UN labour agency’s chief Gilbert Houngbo. …

Iranian sources claim a sophisticated intelligence operation tracked US P-8 aircraft and F-35 jets across multiple bases in the Gulf and Jordan. Iran has executed a sophisticated intelligence and operational plan in the strikes launched against several US military bases in the region early Thursday morning, Fars reported, citing a senior Iranian military source. The source, speaking to Fars News Agency, stated that the strikes inflicted significant losses on expensive equipment belonging to US forces in the region. In a detailed account of the operation, the source reported that Iranian forces tracked the flight path and positioning of two large US P-8 aircraft from the moment they took off. One of the aircraft was reportedly arriving from the Diego Garcia airbase in the central Indian Ocean, while the other was flying from a US base in Western Europe, heading toward the southern Gulf. According to the source, the precise locations of these two aircraft, at the Shaikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain and the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, were subsequently struck by Iranian precision weapons. Furthermore, Iran monitored the positioning of at least three US F-35 fighter jets inside a hangar at the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. The source asserted that the surveillance continued until the final moments before missile launches, at which point the exact location of the hangar was targeted with long-range, solid-fuel missiles. Iran retaliates to US aggression, hits US basesEarlier on Thursday, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) announced it launched retaliatory strikes against US military positions in Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain, in a “punitive action against the aggressor” operation in response to renewed US aggression against Tehran. According to Tasnim News Agency, the IRGC fired 12 ballistic missiles at Jordan’s Al-Azraq Air Base and its control center, destroying what it claimed were “these facilities and a large number of fighter aircraft,” including US F-35, F-15, and F-16 jets reportedly stationed at the base. In a separate statement cited by IRNA, the IRGC said it carried out two waves of operations, striking “18 important targets belonging to the US Army” at bases in Kuwait and Bahrain. The Guard specifically identified Kuwait’s Ali Al Salem and Ahmad Al-Jaber air bases and Bahrain’s Sheikh Isa Air Base. Earlier, Iranian media reports had also indicated that the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain came under attack. Strait of Hormuz shut downIn further retaliatory actions, the IRGC’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters issued a statement declaring the immediate closure of the Strait of Hormuz. “From this moment, due to insecurity in the region, the Strait of Hormuz is declared closed to the passage of any type of vessel, including oil tankers and commercial ships, and any passage will be struck,” the statement said. The announcement cited “the continued mischief of criminal America” and “the beginning of attacks by that country’s aggressive army on some areas in the south of Hormozgan province.” The IRGC also denied US claims that ships were still passing through the strait, stating, “The US claim of a ship crossing the said strait is denied.” US launches aggression on IranEarlier on June 11, Iranian air defenses were activated in several areas early Wednesday after reports emerged of explosions in southern Iran and neighboring Iraq, according to Iranian state media. Air defense systems were triggered west of the capital, Tehran, while explosions were heard in the cities of Sirik and Minab, both located in the Hormozgan province. Iranian state television later reported that air defenses had also been activated in Asaluyeh, a major energy hub in southern Iran. The broadcaster added that five hostile projectiles had targeted a location in Minab. Further explosions were reported in Bandar Abbas, including in the vicinity of the city’s airport and an Air Force base, according to the official IRNA news agency. The activation of air defense systems came shortly after Iranian authorities announced heightened readiness in western Tehran and several southern regions, including strategic energy sites, as regional military tensions continue to rise. Meanwhile, Tasnim News Agency denied earlier claims of explosions on Qeshm Island and other nearby islands. The agency suggested that some of the reported sounds were linked to broader clashes in the Gulf rather than direct strikes on the islands themselves. First of all the 50 vs 51 death camps is a laughable exaggeration and inflation of the relative evils and you all fucking know it. Second, you can advocate for no evil at all all you want. I, obviously, support that too. But A) evils are relative, sometimes, aren’t they. We won’t always agree about what is right and wrong. Pretending your perspective is objective and everyone else is an idiot for not agreeing with you isn’t working out very well for you, is it? B) Even if we agree completely that one system of goverment, economics, international relations, etc. are all correct, unless we can somehow form a sovereign state of two, we’re going to have to coordinate, compromise and agree with others. A lot of others. Come election day under first past the post voting, even if there is a party or candidate that represents every single one of my deeply held ideals, if they don’t have competitive levels of support to even have a chance of winning I would probably not vote for them. Because I’m not a moron who cares more about virtue signaling or keeping my perfect principles untarnished than actual outcomes. Third, again, you need to examine why your alternatives aren’t viable. The answer cannot be external. Blaming everyone else for being stupid, brainwashed, etc. is defeatism. You can’t control others perspectives, only your own. If the choice is between fascism, fascist enablement and anti-fascism, you gotta figure out why anti-fascism isn’t the obvious choice for most people. Then you can start to figure out how to make it the better AND SAFER choice to make.

My experience is that the psychiatrist initially prescribed me way too large doses even though I mentioned I’m sensitive to drugs, they just went on with the “regular titration plan”, and I believe that intensified my burnout. Another thing in here is that they’ll basically try 3 individual drugs (with maybe 3 different doses) and that’s it. If there are any issues you’ll easily get cut off the meds, there isn’t much consideration for alternatives. You’ll be lucky to try the actual ADHD meds, especially if you rely on public health care, as many are refused neurological evaluations and are stuck with SSRI’s or similar. Thank you for your thoughtful response and funnily enough it makes me think of surfing. The hardest part to surfing by far is dropping in on the wave, it is a dynamic motion that is unlike what happens once you get to a standing position and have fully caught the wave. You have to experience it as a reactive process that you fling yourself into and if you have ever watched surfing videos it is obvious it can easily go haywire if just a couple of motions are off or are timed incorrectly. If surfers only judged waves by how they felt initially to catch and not what riding the wave actually felt like after would that make sense? Yet this is how we treat ADHD people beginning drugs. Catching a wave is inherently a moment of chaos that has to be framed in that way, but why do we frame beginning an ADHD drug and adjusting dosages like it could be something you could schedule like a timetable of train arrivals? Everything is stilted about ADHD treatment including medication and the sloshing wavelike nature of adjusting to a new drug makes a rigid attempt at navigating it almost feel meaningless sometimes. Maybe it will work maybe it won’t but can I even know if I am am even gathering data about what works and what doesn’t given how unresponsive and rigid the methods available to me are?

As proven by the voting public, too many people live in a fantasy land where the impossible is possible, like making lying cheaters into honest presidents. I don’t understand what benefit anybody thinks they could get from a space station on Mars. It’s not like they’re gonna get to live there or get any of the benefits from it. It must be the same people that refused to place any restrictions on Billionaires, like taxes, somehow they think a billionaire base on Mars is good for them.
