The gaming platform, which has 85 million daily users, has been increasing its advertising capability over the last few years, creating lucrative partnerships with the likes of Ralph Lauren Corp., Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. and other brands. Roblox doesn’t give details of how much revenue it generates from advertising. Chief Executive Officer Dave Baszucki said in a recent earnings call that “when we feel advertising is big enough, we’ll break it out.”

With zero user reviews of the EA, and no reviewer info out there at all. They already talk about taking a % fee from private servers and mod sales, and they are hyper-aggressive about moderation. This is targeting the roblox crowd by the looks of it’s aggressive focus on mtx/paid experiences while sidestepping publisher fees like steam.

3 years ago I needed a new computer and decided on an 16 inch M1 Macbook Pro, but did lots of overthinking about if I wanted to stick to it. I tried Asahi Linux didn’t have any reasons at the time to use linux over macOS (but there was always the chance I might later), the build quality is 2nd to none, none of my Windows laptops lasted more than a few years. 3 years later, I’ve really been itching to switch to Linux. Two of several reasons: because its DEs are more customizable, it has better documented accessibility APIs if you want to make keyboard navigation software. I reinstalled Asahi Linux and really tried to make it my daily driver, but the lacks of apps would require me to dual boot: Photoshop and Roblox. I researching again for computers closest to Macbook Pros but none of them come close to its build quality. I think it would be best for me to make my own desktop PC for linux. I don’t think I’d fare well with another windows laptop brand.
it’s been very strange to watch this game i grew up on–pretty innocuously, i should note–gradually morph into one of the most exploitative, undignifying, generally dangerous spaces for children online. the worst stuff i got into on Roblox in 2010 was online dating and learning about 4chan. now the company seems to openly revel in exploiting the labor of children and ripping them off

If you’re advertising your platform as kid-friendly; you need to ensure proper steps are done to protect them. Roblox, a billion dollar game platform has failed on this. Let’s say you’re a responsible parent. Your kid asks you GTA 5, you check its age rating and say no. Your kid asks to play Roblox. You look up, see the game advertises itself as safe for children and find about parental controls for concerned parents, create your son an account using it, setting proper age restrictions. Later on, you find out your kid got groomed by someone he met on Roblox, even though you set proper precautions. Is it your fault for not helicopter parenting your son that he got such a traumatic experience, has Roblox done nothing wrong here? I don’t think so.
Roblox has always been complete garbage. If they don’t give a fuck about kids gambling, they sure as fuck don’t care about their employees.
