How much gestures are good enough for gestures training data?

I don’t have any parameter to know how much should I aim as a single person. I already did 1000 words, I wonder how much is necessary to have a reasonable decent impact on contributions? Because I’m no English native and I think very few people are contributing to my language, it’d be good to know. Is 1000 a lot? Or too little? Etc…

Take a few seconds of a break from hellworld to read this headline.

He made it to 100 Yeah and I’m happy for him on that front. It’s just that my default prior is “death is a bad thing” until I get some information to suggest otherwise (e.g. person is suffering and would prefer to die, or person is a monster (e.g. billionaires, politicians, cops, serial killers)). It’s sad because he’s dead but how is it depressing? I don’t know. I just personally didn’t feel better when I read it. And I don’t feel good about it now. ☹️

DC Reflecting Pool Growing Algae Just Days After Trump’s $14M Renovation

$14 million for this project is fucking absurd. 700%+ of the original (no bid) contract amount. The original contract was actually under $2 mil so it’s more than 7x. Everything is a goddamn grift. Everyone involved in approving the change orders that brought this project to 7x+ it’s original value, needs to be investigated for this.

We could feed the planet with breadfruit alone

One breadfruit tree produces hundreds of pounds of tasty, nutritious fruit within a few years of being planted. Apparently all they need is high temperatures, good soil, and plenty of water. That’s it. No maintenance. Capitalists don’t use them because there’s no way to profit from them. I think I learned about this from a random tiktok video. I remembered Herman Melville’s other book, Typee, a memoir about how he ran away from a ship in the South Pacific and lived among indigenous people for six months or a year or so and had the time of his life. He loved those people, and they lived on breadfruit. All they did (simplifying obviously) was hang out, swim, and eat breadfruit. And meanwhile, we are here breaking our backs and/or brains, paying more for groceries every week while wages stagnate, and none of it has to be like this. Of course people want a little variety in their diets, of course there’s already enough food for everyone, but with breadfruit alone we could provide basic nutrition to everyone for free or next to nothing with no questions asked. Food insecurity, starvation, food deserts, malnutrition, animal suffering, pollution, none of this needs to exist. It’s all there so that the Epsteinists can buy more yachts. I know I’m preaching to the choir here but I was just thinking about this. I’m not even sure I’ve tasted breadfruit.

when even the Nazi pedo site does less to hide it than legacy media

I’m not quite up-to-date on it all, but last I checked, it seemed like there were a great deal of posts encouraging members to embrace their pedophilia, which seems to have gotten the group deleted. I did lurk there for a while when the group was still new, since I saw people posting about not conforming to traditional gender roles and some people seemed supportive of trans and non-binaries, but this was before the pedophiles started to emerge. No idea what’s been going on since, since since I escaped the toxicity of Reddit, I haven’t felt the urge to return to that platform at all. 😅 God it felt good slapping those “since” in there.

[FoAR] Foundations of Amateur Radio - Telling Stories to Strengthen a Community #podcast

When was the last time you told a story? The hobby of amateur radio represents as diverse and disparate a group of humanity as I’ve come across in my life. While that might mark me as living a sheltered existence, I have been around the globe and experienced some of what life celebration looks like. One thing I never tire of is hearing stories from the people I meet, each unique and worthy of my time and consideration. Over the years, in the context of broadcast radio and subsequently producing amateur radio news for over seven years, I’ve had the opportunity to interview people and record their stories and share them with the world. There are stories I keep retelling and others I’ll never share, depending on what I’ve been entrusted with. I’m mentioning all this because I think that our stories are what makes us a community, a group of humans with different lives who have a common itch to scratch, conveniently labelled “Amateur Radio”. With social media increasingly manipulated into highlighting and emphasising our differences, it’s good to remember that we can use it to celebrate our common ground, glued together by this crazy, beautiful, rewarding, frustrating and experimental hobby we share. So, next time you get on-air, behind a keyboard or rub your finger on glass, remember, we can share our stories and be richer for the experience. I should point out that the nature of the stories we tell each other is dependant on you. While telling tales with embellishment is attractive, I rather think that it’s remarkable, all on its own, that we can use minuscule amounts of energy, captured by a piece of random wire to communicate with someone on the other side of the world, so much so, that glitter is rarely required. You don’t need to feel compelled to narrate your life story either, although that’s entirely up to you. I’d encourage you to share your adventures, one story at a time, to inspire those around you to embark on their next journey of discovery. And if you’re shy and you’re not sure how to start, start small, one story at a time, practice makes perfect. Also, if your circuit board narrative smells of chicken, you’re holding the wrong end of the soldering iron. Meanwhile I’ll persist with the recalcitrant SoapyAudio software in search for the final missing puzzle piece… Ha! … to make this infernal contraption do what I can imagine, if only that cursed Yak would stand still, but that’s a story for another day. I’m Onno VK6FLAB

Filton 4 will be sentenced as terrorists in “grotesque” abuse of power

A judge has told four ‘Filton 25’ anti-genocide activists, at Woolwich Crown Court today, 12 June 2026, that they will be sentenced as terrorists. The four had been tried for no terrorism offences and were formally acquitted of any violent intent. Former security services lawyer-turned-judge Jeremy Johnson refused to recuse himself from the case despite his obvious conflicts of interest. Johnson had banned lawyers and the press from informing the jury that they could acquit — and that the defendants were going to be sentenced under terror laws if convicted. This decision will mean much longer prison time and draconian conditions imposed on the young activists for decades even after release. These could include having to register their phones with the authorities, report on any relationships and obtain permission to travel. Johnson claimed his decision was, in part, because the actionists had worn red jumpsuits and some employees of the Israeli death factory would have been upset by the action against their workplace. Hundreds of lawyers, academics and others had warned that the sentencing plan would be a gross injustice with no lawful basis, but Johnson has gone ahead anyway. Human rights group Amnesty International has condemned Johnson and the government for the “grossly disproportionate” punishment, saying: Amnesty opposes the use of terrorism powers in this case. It is completely disproportionate to punish protesters for criminal damage as if they were terrorists, a sentence which stays with you for life. The defendants in today’s case were sentenced as terrorists because prosecutors want to make an example of them. Today’s decision shows how direct action protesters could be treated in the future. The use of terrorism laws against direct action protesters must end. Together we must continue calling out the abuse of power and fighting for our right to protest. Filton 25 — Heartbreaking and grotesque The Good Law Project described Johnson’s decision as “grotesque”: This grotesque distortion of the law tightens the screws on the public’s right to protest, placing more limits on our freedom to fight injustice. The ‘Defend our Juries’ group called it “heartbreaking”: BREAKING: Judge Johnson has confirmed the Filton Four will be sentenced based on a ‘terrorist connection’. This heart breaking news comes despite the protestors never being charged or convicted of terror offences or violent intent. pic.twitter.com/SB1Sbse2ej — Defend Our Juries (@DefendOurJuries) June 12, 2026 Keir Starmer’s war on UK rights to protect Israel from accountability for its crimes has turned Britain into a failed and terror state. Anything to protect Israel from accountability for its crimes. Featured image via the Canary By Skwawkbox From Canary via This RSS Feed.

Dutch gov't to ban kidfluencers: No under 16s making commercial content on social media

Links lullen, rechts vullen, is what we often say about the PVV (and many other (para-)fascist groups). Undoubtedly he gets a lot of financing from the antisemitic Netanyahu government.

Thoughts after my first month on Lemmy

I finally made the leap to Lemmy. It’s a little confusing, but it’s doing a pretty good job of scratching that reddit itch. Some random thoughts: I just need a place to spit out my random thoughts and have random conversations and make random jokes; it’s really not that demmanding. Do I miss having 400 upvotes instead of 11? Sure, but the main thing is that I’m communicating with people. Definitely get an app. I’m using Voyager on my phone with a KBM–how I mostly get around. Big difference from Reddit: Those 400 upvotes come at a cost–posts are dead within a few hours. There’s almost no point to leave a new comment in an active thread–nobody is going to see it. And there’s also no point in leaving a detailed explanation of anything on reddit for the same reason. On Lemmy, I’ll get replies to posts and comments DAYS later, and people seem more willing to be helpful; maybe because things are less contentious, and maybe it’s just people are naturally more helpful to strangers in smaller communities (see cities vs small towns)… So really, the only downside to lemmy–the small size of the population–ends up being one the best things about it. It’s definitely nice not having to compulsively check to see if my comments have been shadowbanned–which happened quite frequently and seemingly without reason on reddit. It’s nice to be in a space where I can be more frank about political remedies. It’s nice that I can view the comment histories of people I’m talking with to determine if they’re an inveterate asshole or just having a bad day (only found one asshole so far). That’s it! 10/10. I’ll try not to burn my reddit account in case I have a tough question, but I honestly think a technical question is more likely to be answered on Lemmy with it’s small platoon of nerds with little to chew on than the hordes of ignorami on reddit rapidly trying to solve everyone’s problem by free associating the title of the post.

We live in a shithole country

Financial obesity is an existential threat to any society that tolerates it, and needs to cease being celebrated, rewarded, and positioned as an aspirational goal. Corporations are the only ‘persons’ which should be subjected to capital punishment, but trillionaires should be forced to transition into billionaires, and billionaires should be euthanised through taxation.

How you can stop your cat from bringing home unwelcome pathogens

wreak havoc on native animal populations. Cats only pose a threat to native animal populations in places where they are not native (or naturalised) themselves, so that doesn’t apply to the majority of the countries in the world. In fact, even in places like the Americas and Australia there is no good evidence that outdoor cats threaten local wildlife populations, except on small islands (source: Outdoor domestic cats and wildlife: How to overrate and misinterpret field data). The UKs leading cat charity (for example) will not allow you to adopt a cat that you plan to keep indoors unless it has a health problem that prevents it from going outside, as keeping cats locked up their whole lives is deemed to be animal cruelty.
