It makes it makes sense. You’re not just suffering in the void anymore. It won’t fix any of your problems, but it will give you so many reasons to fix them. There was never a good time to transition. And because of that, the best time to transition is always now. No matter how painful things can be, living through life and through these pains as yourself, your real self is always better. Even that pain at least can be real, but it’s not just that. It is so much more than pain. It’s community, it’s living, it’s freeing. It’s so much joy that most people will never be able to understand. If being transfeminine is who you are, you can try and run away from it, but it will chase you and it will find you eventually. You’re trying to avoid something that can’t be avoided. You can’t change who you are. You can’t wish it away. One day it will need to come out, and when you do that, no matter when it is, you will be filled with regret and bitterness about not having done it sooner. Might as well do it now. You can do it. Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodríguez signed several agreements with the multinational company Shell on Thursday, June 11. These agreements represent the start of Phase I of development and operations at the Loran natural gas field. A total of five strategically important deals were signed, designed to increase Venezuela’s energy capacity for both domestic consumption and the export market. Through the momentum generated by this first operational stage, Venezuela seeks to strengthen its role as a gas exporter, using its vast hydrocarbon reserves as part of the solution to the oil price crisis created by the US-Israeli aggression against Iran. For over a decade, Venezuela was subjected to illegal US sanctions that heavily restricted Venezuela’s capacity to sign energy agreements with major oil corporations. After the January 3 US invasion of Venezuela that resulted in the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and the murder of over 100 people, the US, unable to remove Chavismo from the government, has been easing some of those sanctions via OFAC licenses. The Loran field is a non-associated natural gas asset that has seven deposits, six of which are transboundary with Trinidad and Tobago. Under Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Trinidad and Tobago has become one of the continent’s most unfriendly countries toward Venezuela, leading a xenophobic anti-Venezuela tirade and even helping to facilitate the US invasion of Venezuela. Technical-financial alliance Four of the legal instruments signed between Venezuela and Shell refer to a technical-financial alliance established last March. They consist of service and purchase orders intended to carry out work in northern Monagas state. These agreements aim to increase production of light crude, a hydrocarbon used as a necessary diluent in the Merey 16 blend formulated with heavy crude extracted from the Orinoco Oil Belt. Furthermore, the supply of feedstock required for the Puerto La Cruz Refinery’s fuel production is under consideration. Flare gas The purchase orders resulting from the agreements signed by Venezuela with Shell include the acquisition of spare parts for the compression plant that will reduce flare gas. The nice thing about living in a “not wealthy enough to become a corporate hellscape” country is that I can go down some random roads and get to the streets where independent vendors live, and buy any extremely spesific and small electronic component I want with individual pieces or handfulls for quite cheap.

However, despite our best efforts, a part of me knew that we would not meet the goal in time for when the advance is due. Therefore, I have had to make some sacrifices. Before I started posting in this community, me and my friend were already supporting Hassan and his family for around 2 years with part of our own allowances and a few helpful donations. However, the costs grew and when the family finally found a house, we had already spent a substantial amount of money to help them. Therefore, I started posting in this community to raise funds for this beautiful and resilient family. As the deadline grew closer, I began to worry that we would not be able to raise enough money on time. Eventually, I made the difficult decision to sell off some of my stocks to pay for his rent advance. Over the past 2 years, I had earned a substantial salary from my job before I started university. I invested part of it in stocks and used it as my reserve fund. As difficult as it was, I saw the need to help Hassan and his family achieve this milestone as a higher priority. They are the embodiment of resilience to me and they have jumped through every hurdle to get to where they are today. To not be able to help them at this juncture would mean an even more challenging road ahead for them. Besides, even though it is a large sum, I know I can always earn it back through jobs or internships during my semester breaks. To those who contributed to the €300, thank you once again from the bottom of my heart. Despite my last-minute intervention, your donations did not go to waste and are part of the family’s reserve fund. If you feel guilty that you wish you had donated more, don’t be. We do what we can whenever we are able to. Every amount that was sent helps them and I am grateful that you had stopped to consider donating. Although this will be the last update for the family’s house, their journey is far from over. Hassan will be going for classes as part of the integration process. While the October 2024 embed was one of the more preposterous embodiments of Western corporate media’s special relationship with Israel, outlets continue to do a fine job of sanitizing Israeli brutality even when their reporters are not physically viewing the region from inside an Israeli armored vehicle. Since March of this year, Israel has killed at least 3,613 people in Lebanon and displaced 1.2 million, obliterating entire villages and otherwise expanding the ecocidal policy honed in the Gaza Strip. There has been no remotely comparable destruction on the Israeli side, and a recent Reuters article (5/31/26) that had attempted to suggest some symmetry now comes with the preface: “This May 31 story has been corrected to remove a reference to tens of thousands of Israelis being displaced by Hezbollah fire, in paragraph 3.” Like in Gaza, where genocide proceeds apace in spite of a declared ceasefire (FAIR.org, 10/21/25), the media tend to report “ceasefires” in Lebanon without caring to highlight the fact that it’s not a ceasefire when Israel is still pummeling the country and massacring people, all the while setting the stage for a massive land grab with its creeping so-called “evacuation orders.” … As Battah remarked to me, the media’s acceptance and deployment of such arbitrary vocabulary creates “artificial structures” and a sense of orderliness, when in reality “there’s no yellow lines, there’s no yellow, there’s no colors—these are just illegal invasions.” And because media are committed to sanitizing Israel’s behavior rather than questioning it, “colonization becomes normalized.” The eagerness of journalists to do Israel’s bidding is all the more confounding given that Israel is currently the No. 1 killer of journalists in the world. A recent Associated Press article (5/29/26), for example, reduced the pulverization of Lebanon to simply “ongoing fighting in southern Lebanon between Israeli troops and Hezbollah fighters.”
Counterpoint: I live in a suburb to the north. This week I drove in for a concert at Radio City. There was traffic and crowds. Those are expected in a city. An app provided a method to secure a parking spot before I left home. At the show, we met several folks that had traveled large distances to attend. After, the street crowds were celebrating the Knicks’ win with enthusiasm. We grabbed some street food and drove home on empty streets. I find it nice to know that I am so close to so many of the world’s best museums and other cultural highlights. Driving has trade-offs. The ability to come and go as you please vs. carefree travel. Taking what you want or being limited to what you can carry. Commuting is best by transit. Special or occasional trips are best by car.

I have been using it that way for years and it works well (for this scenario no problem). Only recently I switched from Syncthing to using mounted SMB share. I switched partly because of the Syncthing for Android maintainer switch (though I still think its safe) and because Syncthing sometimes didn’t sync on my Iodé custom rom and I got tired of having to open the app to sync.
