Grand Rapids Coalition Against Trump hosts Pride in the Park

Grand Rapids, MI – The Grand Rapids Coalition Against Trump hosted “Pride in the Park” at MLK Jr. Park, Sunday June 28. This was the first event hosted by the coalition this summer. Food, games, tarot card reading and live music were present, creating a celebratory environment for the community. The event brought together several different community groups, both from within and outside of the coalition, to commemorate the history of Pride as a celebration, but also as an act of resistance against the oppression faced by the LGBTQ community. Halfway through the event several coalition member groups and friends of the coalition gave brief speeches on the need to unite against Trump and the necessity to stand with our LGBTQ community members. “Our campaign is proud to be a member of the Coalition Against Trump. In our society, immigrants, unhoused people and members of the LGBTQ community are often treated as second-class citizens, and that’s why it’s important to have events like these to demonstrate that we must build community and stand up for each other’s rights,” said Ivan Diaz, a coalition member and political candidate running for Michigan State Senate District 29. Each speaker addressed the need to fight back against increasing repression around the world, highlighting specifically the heightened repression of the queer community by the Trump administration. “As an organization, Grand Rapids Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression fights against all forms of political repression, including repression of our LGBTQ community. Pride is a celebration now, but its roots are as an act of resistance,” said Magret Hawley-Lowry representing the Grand Rapids Alliance, noting also, “Today, June 28, marks 67 years since that attack. We remember that event in particular because the people targeted chose to get loud and fight back, and through this they found community and created organizations to continue fighting for their rights.” The Grand Rapids Coalition Against Trump ended the event with a promise of future actions and events, as well as encouraging everyone attending to join one of the groups present and to get involved in political struggle. #GrandRapidsMI #MI #LGBTQ #Pride From Fight Back! What’s so bad about inkjet? The ink is going to be cheap since it’s not proprietary cartridges and the clogging issue is very overblown IMO. I’ve had one crappy cheap Canon and one crappy cheap HP inkjet and neither one dried up when left alone for several months. Took the HP being unused for 5+ years on what was still the original ink cartridges for it to stop printing. This being open source hardware means if it DOES get clogged, the parts will likely be cheap, and it not having ultra tight tolerance nozzles AFAIK means clogs are less likely to happen. I’m likely not buying/building one because I just don’t need to print things that often anymore (hence the HP sitting around for years between prints), but I don’t foresee inkjet being a deciding factor in THIS case. It would be if I was getting a proprietary printer.

That’s be a CME, not a flare. A flare is a near-light-speed tight stream of energetic particles. A CME (coronal mass ejection) is a lower-speed cloud of plasma. It’s CMEs that generally cause the big, disruptive geomagnetic storms (if they’re big enough, don’t diffuse too much in-transit, and make a direct hit on the Earth). CMEs and flares are correlated, but not all that tightly. Flares are closely connected to holes in the corona. CMEs are believed to be triggered by shockwaves that occur when lines of flux collapse on the corona. There’s some great satellite imagery out there that shows those lines of flux, they look like jug handles.

Stone Wall Philippines at Pride Protest, inilunsad ng mga grupong LGBTQ+

Nagtipon ang iba’t ibang grupo, alyado at mga aktibistang nagsusulong ng karapatan ng mga LGBTQ+ sa Liwasang Bonifacio sa Maynila noong Hunyo 26, upang gunitain ang taunang Stonewall Philipines Gay Pride. Sa protesta, idiniin ng mga raliyista ang militanteng tradisyon ng Pride, habang kinukundena ang lumalalang kalagayan ng mamamayan sa gitna ng pagtaas ng presyo, lumalawak na militarisasyon, at patuloy na dayuhang interbensyon. Dagadag rito, nanawagan sila para sa mas matibay na proteksyon para sa komunidad ng LGBTQ+ at agarang pagsasabatas sa Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Gender Expression (SOGIE) Equality Bill. Sa programa, ibinahagi ang mensahe ng pakikiisa sa protesta ng ilan sa mga nag-organisa ng 1994 Stonewall Manila, ang tinaguriang kauna-unahang Pride March sa Pilipinas at Asia. Sa parehong araw, pinangunahan ng Eastern Visayas Pride Alliance sa Tacloban City ang isang protesta sa Libertad Freedom Park, kung saan nagsama-sama ang mga progresibong grupo, myembro ng komunidad ng LGBTQ+ at mga drag performers mula sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng rehiyon. Ang protesta ay bahagi ng tatlong araw na serye ng mga aktibidad para sa Pride na inorganisa ng alyansa. Sa temang “LGBTQIA+ ngan Katawhan Pagkaurusa: Atuhan an VAT ngan Imperyalista nga Giyera,” nananawagan ang mga kalahok para sa pagbabasura sa Value-Added Tax (VAT) sa mga produktong petrolyo at batayang pangangailangan, at pagkundena sa presensya ng mga militar sa San Jose, Tacloban City noong Balikatan exercises. Sa UP Los Baños, Laguna, kinulayan ng mga kulay ng bahaghari ang kahabaan ng Lopez Avenue mula Carabao Park hanggang Los Baños Junction para sa UPLB Pride March 2026. Nagmartsa ang mga kalahok bitbit ang mga panawagan para sa pagkakapantay-pantay ng mga kasarian at paglaban sa pyudal-patriyarkal na hegemonya ng rehimeng US-Marcos. Nanawagan din sila ng hustisya para sa mga kasapi ng LGBTQ+ na biktima ng pamamaslang ng pasismo ng estado. Noong Hunyo 28, nagmartsa ang malawak na hanay ng LGBTQ+ at mamamayan ng Southern Tagalog sa Plaza Mabini, Batangas City, bilang pagdiriwang ng International LGBT Pride Day. Itinambol sa programa ang paggiit ng karapatan ng LGBTQ+ at pagkundena sa pagsasamantala at karahasang patuloy na umiiral sa bansa. Sa protesta, nagtanghal ang organisasyon ng mga magsasaka na Teatro Kabataan Mula sa Nayon at mga drag artists mula sa UPLB Babaylan na sina Minervaugh, Veruchka Red, at Proxxxyma C. Noong Hunyo 27, magkakasamang nagmartsa sa Baguio City ang mga myembro at aldyado ng LGBTQ+ para sa isang protesta. Sa temang, “Para sa kalayaan ng karapatan at kasarian, RAMPA, AWRA!” ay itinampok nila ang mga isyu ng sektor at ng buong bayan.
