A lot of people think this is a media control thing, but as far as I can tell the US has already forced TikTok to acquiesce to placing US national security apparachiks in positions of power. As a result, I think this motion is simply a favor to Congress’s deep-pocketed patrons in Silicon Valley, using “national security” as a pretext. Of course, it will still lead to censorship.

I wish we could hold people who do stuff like this with their social media platform accountable and make it so whoever does this kind of stuff would get deplatformed immediately or something. It’s gross that some people think it’s genuinely okay to practically sic their fans on people who just… don’t like what they do, or might disagree with something they said. The fact the TikTok person also said “love will always outshine being a hater, I hope I taught you that today” is a fucking disgusting and twisted line of thinking because he’s encouraging his fans to hate on the critic - where’s the “love” in that?
Reform UK’s home affairs spokesman has alleged that the Labour government is using the Online Safety Act to silence political dissent. Zia Yusuf holds that Labour are using the law, authored by a Tory-Reform turncoat, to make social media platform TikTok take down his videos. On 17 May, as part of a rambling 200+word tweet, Yusuf posted that: Labour is using the “Online Safety Act” to silence political opponents, and TikTok is doing their dirty work. You know, TikTok, the social media platform quite famously owned by China and Trump allies in the US. Widely known for their support of the Starmer regime, are that lot. Zia Yusuf styles himself as the “Shadow Home Secretary”. This is a lie. Reform are not the opposition party of the UK, which appoints the shadow cabinet. That dubious honour falls to the Tories. In spite of Reform being chock-full of Tory rejects, I’m reliably informed that they are in fact separate parties. Any evidence that Labour is behind TikTok’s policies? None whatsoever, obviously. ‘Draconian legislation’ Carrying on, Zia Yusuf complained that: First, TikTok removed my video announcing Reform UK’s new policy to place secure illegal migrant detention centres in non-Reform constituencies, prioritising Green ones. TikTok explicitly cited the Online Safety Act as the reason for its removal. This is hard evidence of this draconian legislation being weaponised to silence political opponents. That ‘draconian legislation’ was introduced under the Tory government and championed by then-digital-secretary Nadine Dorries, by the way. And what party is Dorries part of now? Oh yeah… it’s Reform UK. The act itself places duties on online content platforms to “manage the risks of harm” from “illegal content and activity”. Likewise, the act specifically calls out that this includes: risks which particularly affect individuals with a certain characteristic Now, what characteristics might Reform policies constitute a risk of harm towards? Oh yeah, literally all of them — the party wants to rip up the Equality Act. Likewise, as Willem Moore previously explained for the Canary, if a court agrees that Reform’s detention centre policy represents a threat, it would be illegal under the Representation of the People Act 1983 (Punitive Coercion): Believe it or not, [the UK has] had to think about this sort of thing in the past, and we realised we can’t have political parties achieving power by threatening to punish anyone who doesn’t vote for them. The reason for this is obvious; it’s because if voters feel like a party has a strong chance of getting in, they will potentially vote for them solely to avoid reprisals. ‘Hate speech and hateful behaviour’ But wait, it gets worse. Zia Yusuf revealed that: Today, the censorship escalated. TikTok has now removed my video outlining the key policies I would implement as Home Secretary, claiming it is “Hate Speech and Hateful Behaviour.” They warned me that any further “violations” will result in a strike, potentially leading to being de-platformed altogether. Back on 23 February, Zia Yusuf gave his first speech in his new role as Reform UK’s home affairs spokesman. He unveiled a proposal to create a UK ‘Deportation Command’ modelled on the US ICE — Immigration and Customs Enforcement — agency. This agency would conduct ‘Operation Restoring Justice’, which would involve detaining ‘illegal’ immigrants in pre-fab structures before rapidly deporting them. Likewise, he also voiced an intention to impose a visa ban on six different countries. These included Pakistan, Eritrea, Somalia, Syria, Afghanistan and Sudan, all of which just happen to have majority-Muslim populations. On top of all this, Zia Yusuf also stated that Reform would task Prevent, part of the UK’s anti-terrorism scheme, to refocus on Islamist extremism. It just so happens that the reallocation would necessitate a decrease in Prevent’s attention on extreme right-wing terrorism. Currently, far-right referrals outnumber Islamist referrals 2-to-1, according to government data. Do we reckon that lot adds up to “hateful behaviour” yet? Calling for Nigel Farage’s assassination is illegal Yusuf then gave some distressing news: This is all the more staggering given TikTok happily hosts hundreds of videos of people calling for the assassination of Nigel Farage. My TikTok videos had received 18 million views over the previous 28 days. Gee, I wonder if those two statements are related to each other? TikTok relies of user reports to flag illegal content. The more people see a video, the more chance it has of being reported. Either users aren’t seeing the calls to assassinate Farage, or they aren’t reporting the content. Disclaimer: Calling for the assassination of politicians is illegal. ‘Direct political interference’ Zia Yusuf finished up by calling TikTok taking down two of his videos: a chilling attempt to silence one of the biggest and fastest-growing UK political accounts on the platform. TikTok is engaging in direct political interference in the midst of the most pivotal elections in our country’s history. All under the auspice of the “Online Safety Act” that the Tories and Labour claimed to be about protecting children. It is, and always will be about silencing voices the open-borders political establishment don’t like. @TikTokComms have decided to try and suppress Reform. Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind. Again: Reform’s policies are “hateful behaviour.” The only surprise is TikTok actually treating them as such. Again: now-Reform-politician Nadine Dorries sold the Online Safety Act as protecting children. However, that’s far from its only stated aim. And again: TikTok has nothing to do with the “open-borders political establishment.” Neither, for that matter, do Labour or the Conservatives. ‘Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind’ Lastly, “Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind” is an interesting note to end on. Originating in the Old Testament book of Hosea, it was famously used by RAF commander Arthur Harris to justify the bombing of German population centers during WWII. More recently, the phrase appeared in the tweets of suspended Reform councillor Nathaniel Menday, after he blamed “Jews in the West” for the antisemitism they receive because they “overwhelmingly favour open borders.” However, we’re sure that’s purely a coincidence. A disturbing video from Tommy Robinson’s Unite the Kingdom rally in London has shown a grown man sexually harassing a teenage girl in front of her mother. Far-right influencer EDobbin went to Tommy Robinson’s march and filmed himself harassing a 15-year-old girl in front of her mum. As the Canary reported, the rally was a hotbed of racism. On a positive note, however, it attracted fewer than half as many people as the 2025 event did. Let’s get that down to zero in 2027. Teenage girl ogled by grown men At the start of the video, ‘influencer’ EDobbin greets a trio of men in Union Jack suits before putting his arm around a passing child and describing her as “my little girlfriend”. After asking what her name is, the teenage girl’s mother said: She ain’t no child bride. When asked how old the girl is, the mother clearly answered “15”. Whoever captioned the video wrote “16”, which is the legal age of consent in the UK. Suggesting that EDobbin definitely heard “15”, he responded: Fucking hell. How old are you really? Please, I’m going to go to jail in a minute. After the mother and daughter walked away, EDobbin followed behind, shouting at the teenage girl: Excuse me, my love. Can I get your details and see you? The mother responded: Absolutely not. EDobbin wasn’t deterred and disgustingly replied: Oh, mum. Mum, look at that. By “that”, he meant the child he was sexually harassing — something he made clear by gesturing towards the teenage girl with his hand. He then said: Fucking hell. You need a warning sign on you. The girl’s mother responded again: She’s got a mother, that’s enough. EDobbin yelled back: No, you’re too happy to be a barking one. Woof. The mother and child were still walking away as this happened, clearly showing they wanted nothing to do with the freak. Who is EDobbin? The loathsome harasser in the video is EDobbin, a man from Rochdale who displays the following information on his Instagram page: – Truth seeker – Mud Fossil student – Flat Earth, Psalms 19:1 – Mindset Architect – Property Landlord - Level 3 PT ‘Mud Fossil students’ are people who believe that mountains are the fossilised remains of dragons. Being somewhat peculiar is no justification for behaving like an out-and-out paedophile, which is precisely what he did at the rally. Predictable behaviour from Robinson allies Of course, this sort of behaviour shouldn’t come as a surprise from an attendee of the Unite the Kingdom rally. Tommy Robinson and his lackeys like to present themselves as defenders of women, but the reality is a million miles away. For instance, Robinson (real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon) is friends with the alleged trafficker and rapist, Andrew Tate. He also ran defence for Tate when right-wing commentator Lauren Southern accused him of raping her. As Hope not Hate reported: Lennon has consistently ignored or even defended occurrences of [sexual exploitation] in his own ranks, proving that he is more concerned with attacking Muslims than actually combatting CSE or challenging sexual violence. Notoriously, in June 2010 Lennon’s close friend and ally Richard Price was convicted of making four indecent images of children, and possessing cocaine and crack cocaine. The vile images were found on his computer by police after he was arrested for disturbances at an EDL demonstration. Far from condemning Price’s crimes, the EDL launched a campaign for his release. Lennon himself wholeheartedly supported Price, claiming he had been “stitched up” and that “Price has no idea how they were on his computer.” When Lennon’s claims became untenable, he switched positions and finally condemned him. In other words, EDobbin is exactly the sort of degenerate you’d expect to find among these people. There are 25 U.S. citizens among the over 500 participants from 45 countries on the 2026 flotilla to Gaza. CODEPINK Substack is a reader-supported publication. As the almost 60 vessels from the FFC, Global Sumud Flotilla, and the Mavi Marmara Freedom and Solidarity Association move closer to Gaza, hostile rhetoric from Israeli media and political circles has intensified significantly. False accusations and inflammatory narratives are already being circulated in what appears to be an effort to delegitimize the mission and lay the groundwork for not only unlawful aggression against unarmed civilians, but potentially lethal violence against our boats. In this moment, broad public visibility and political pressure are essential. This mission is a lawful, civilian-led initiative challenging the ongoing blockade imposed on Gaza. It is critical that organizations, elected officials, community leaders, and individuals publicly affirm the legitimacy of the flotilla and demand the protection of everyone on board. Recent media coverage connected to the Israeli establishment has insinuated that the flotilla could be treated as a security or “terror” threat. These allegations are entirely unfounded. They follow a familiar pattern in which humanitarian and solidarity efforts are deliberately misrepresented to rationalize state violence before it occurs. We have seen this language used before in relation to attacks on civilian missions, including the deadly assault on the Mavi Marmara, in which 10 of our colleagues were murdered, including one U.S. citizen, 19-year-old Furkan Dǒgan. These threats must be taken seriously. Israel has repeatedly demonstrated a willingness to attack civilians, humanitarian workers, journalists, and solidarity activists while facing no meaningful accountability from powerful governments. Silence at this stage only increases the danger. We therefore ask supporters to take the following actions immediately: This flotilla is made up of almost 60 vessels carrying hundreds of people from over 45 countries.
