US vassals have banded together in a vote of the International Criminal Court’s 21-state ‘Bureau’ to suspend ICC chief prosecutor Karim Khan. Khan has been driving the ICC’s issuance of arrest warrants for Israeli war criminals, including Benjamin Netanyahu and former ‘defence’ minister Yoav Gallant. ICC — Shameless political stitch-up Israel and the US have previously circulated allegations against Khan – a standard Israel lobby tactic – of improper behaviour. Now Khan has been suspended by the Bureau on a supposed ‘no indication of guilt’ basis. But as former UK ambassador Craig Murray points out, the move is a shameless and politically-driven stitch-up: The rest of the world should impose sanctions against the 21 criminal states. Just as the ANC encouraged sanctions against their own country (apartheid South Africa) we should encourage sanctions against our own imperialist or client countries. — Mark Howell (@markhowell7) June 9, 2026 The US, Israel and their allies will now be working overtime to pressure other ICC signatory nations to try to secure the votes required to take down Khan at the coming “special session of the Assembly of States Parties”. Apparently, the rating body is only able to accommodate game publishers’ confidentiality requests while submitted games are undergoing review. The moment a decision is reached (whether it be an approved rating or rejection), the GRAC is legally obligated, without exception, to make it public through its official website and the digital government gazette.
Welcome to the lemmy.world community for Portland, Oregon! This community has kind of been empty since it was created, I’m hoping to change that! Unlike “other” Portland communities you may have seen “elsewhere”, I believe in a “warts and all” approach. You are free to take off your Rose tinted glasses and talk about topics that are dragging our city down. At the same time, sunset pics, snowmageddon, traffic monster, cones, that’s all welcome as well. Let’s collectively keep Portland weird! 2024 is going to be an interesting year politically with all the changes to city government, I will attempt to tag political threads with a [Politics] tag and encourage users to do so as well. Other than the lemmy.world restrictions on spam, copyrighted material, and adult material (USE that NSFW tag!), there’s only one real way to get in trouble here: Don’t attack other users. It’s OK to go after Teargas Ted, it’s OK to say Rene Gonzales is a fascist, ACAB, BLM, whatever floats your boat (WEFYB). It’s NOT OK to attack or diminish another user. Feel free to disagree, you can point out the many ways you think they’re wrong, just don’t start throwing perjoratives AT OTHER USERS. Links to know! cross-posted from: https://infosec.pub/post/47775117 A Government Accountability Office (GAO) audit released today said evidence was destroyed or went missing regarding the death of Geraldo Lunas Campos, a federal immigration detainee whose death a medical examiner later ruled a homicide by asphyxiation. The GAO reported that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) filed a “discrepancy report” in February noting that the private contractor that previously operated the Camp East Montana detention facility in Texas had failed to provide the agency with use-of-force and death reports regarding a January death of a detainee by use of force. The GAO report does not name the detainee, but the details match Lunas Campos, who died on January 3 after an altercation with guards at the camp. “In addition, evidence associated with the incident was missing or destroyed,” the GAO report said. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) initially claimed that Lunas Campos had attempted to commit suicide and died during a struggle in which “guards were trying to save him.” However, the El Paso Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death a homicide by asphyxiation. Multiple detainee witnesses told news outlets that guards choked Lunas Campos to death after he refused to stop asking for his medication. “The officers entered, grabbed him,” one detainee told Zeteo, “and the last thing we could hear him say was: ‘They are choking me, they are choking me.’”

In theory a summary is a good idea, in practice Google’s is catastrophically wrong often enough to produce news like this, and can trivially be shown to be wrong in other cases. It stands to reason that it’s likely also often wrong in ways that we don’t notice, which makes me not want to rely on it.
was VERY reluctant to buy marvel vs Capcom 3 when it was on sale because of the slop machines that are aaaaaaa devs. said screw it and pulled the pin. Sat on it for about a week and finally booted it up last night… I absolutely forgot that these AAAA devs used to make games, not stores with games attached. very refreshing to be bought back to the ¢25 arcade machine games again with no stupid stores, cosmetics, characters locked behind a wallet. Now if I can just find a street fighter game that is in the same vein that doesn’t have stores with stores and nonstop ads for junk.

You know, I seem to see this rhetoric a lot, and it seems to be getting upvoted more now, which isn’t a good sign for Lemmy, but are you really surprised by this? Is this really a question? Are you really that under a rock? If it’s rhetorical, then what’s the point? Is this just a petulant way to try and dumpster something without going through the effort of actually picking out a real problem with it, of which there are countless? Is this starting an interesting discussion? Is this voicing an interesting opinion? What is the point of this exact kind of comment? Maybe I’m just too autistic and I’m going off the rails here, but these are starting to itch like a form of “internet forum hives”.

You need to catch up on the last decade or so. Dejoy did irreperable damage. Biden blamed inactivity on not being able to intervene with board of governors. Trump does so without reservation of course. New dickhead postmaster general was a FedEx board member who’s tasked with setting the USPS up to fail and force a privatization play… And make the uniforms more “hot” as trump directed. Here’s some of the story: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/11/22/twcq-n22.html

With the market share of Chrome and Chrome-derived browsers Google basically single-handedly decides how the web works. They decide to implement some functionality, everybody needs to do the same, every other browser “vendor” has to implement it as well now. The consortium deciding about it theoretically is a fig leaf at that point.

Finally. I finally got some damn vyvance I finally can afford to medicate adhd because my country now lets regular doctors prescribe it if you already have a clinical diagnosis. I no longer have to pay hundreds to a psychiatrist every time I need to renew my script. I might actually be able to function without murdering my health now. I’m so god damn happy. Is this what hope feels like?

There’s this weird stereotype that keeps popping up that queer culture is oversexed and primarily interested only in sexual matters. That needs to die a horrible, agonizing death.

I’m not sure “China cares more about the wellbeing and QOL of the average American more than the US government does” is the slam dunk argument they think it is.
“Cuba has been able – precisely because of the kind of system of government we have – to prevent collapse.” Johana Tablada, deputy chief of mission at the Cuban Embassy in Mexico City, explains why Washington’s tightening sanctions regime against Havana won’t succeed in bringing down the island nation. “It reveals a tremendous ignorance of our history.” Watch full episodes of BT Live, join as a member at the link in our bio. Exactly 155 years ago, in June 1871, right on the still-smoking barricades of the Paris Commune, the poet and communist Eugène Pottier wrote the poem “L’Internationale”. The Commune fell. Thousands of its defenders were shot. But the lines survived. Pottier hid the manuscript, and in 1887 published it in the collection “Revolutionary Songs”. A year later, the French composer Pierre Degeyter set it to music — and the anthem began its journey around the planet. The song was translated into dozens of languages. It became the anthem of the Second International. It was sung at May Day rallies, underground meetings, and demonstrations — in Germany, England, Italy, China, Latin America — everywhere where workers rose up against oppression. The anthem sounded in the trenches of the First World War, on the barricades of the Spanish Civil War, and in concentration camps. In the 1920s, it was such a powerful symbol that many governments banned it under threat of imprisonment. “This song is translated into all European, and not only European languages… Wherever a conscious worker goes, wherever fate takes him, no matter how alien he feels — without language, without acquaintances, far from his homeland — he can find comrades and friends to the familiar tune of the ‘Internationale’.” — V. I. Lenin In Russia, the “Internationale” first sounded in 1902, in the translation by Arkady Kotz. This translation became a classic: "The whole world of violence we will destroy To the foundations, and then We will build our new world, Who was nothing will become everything!" After the October Revolution of 1917, it immediately became the anthem of the new power. "And in Smolny — the crowd, spreading its chest, covered with a song of fireworks of information. For the first time instead of: — and it will be… — they sang: — and this is our last…" — Mayakovsky, from the poem “It’s Good” In January 1918, the All-Russian Central Executive Committee (VTsIK) approved the “Internationale” as the state anthem of the RSFSR, and later of the USSR. It was sung at the first subbotniks, on Red Square, at Congresses of Soviets. It sounded at the opening of the Dnieper Hydroelectric Station, in the factories of Magnitogorsk, at campfires of Pioneer camps. Soldiers marched into battle with it in 1941. The Germans listened to its lines with horror, coming from the ruins of the Brest Fortress, the catacombs of Adzhimushkay and Odessa. Workers sang it in the workshops of evacuated factories. In 1944, the new anthem of the USSR became Alexandrov’s music with Mikhalkov’s lyrics — but the “Internationale” did not fade into the background. It remained the anthem of the Communist Party. It was sung at party congresses, at May Day and November 7th demonstrations. For millions of Soviet people, it was not just a song — but an oath. “The ‘Internationale’ is the anthem of the international solidarity of the proletariat. It expresses the truth that the liberation of working people can only be the work of the working people themselves. As long as capitalism exists, the ‘Internationale’ will sound as a call to the last, decisive battle.” — V. I. Lenin, from “On the ‘Internationale’” (1913) and various speeches But at rallies in Nepal, at protests in Chile, at demonstrations and during strikes in Europe and America — its melody arises again and again. And its call — “Rise up, damned!” — remains as relevant as ever. As long as there is inequality, exploitation, and injustice. As long as someone’s labor is devalued, and someone else’s greed becomes law.

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.ml/post/48547220 https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/78E3-7431-1E88-AD59#retailers Can I purchase Steam Gift Cards at retailers? Yes, but only for a limited time. We introduced Steam Gift Cards to retail stores back in 2012, and added the digital program in 2017. Unfortunately, scammers use gift cards from major brands like Steam to take advantage of all people all over the world. We’ve responded to gift card scams over the years by taking a number of actions to protect customers, including: Working with retailers Working with law enforcement Making changes to the cards, including adding a prominent scam warning Limiting redemption to be in the currency of your Steam wallet Limiting availability of cards Removing cards from sale when we observed abnormal activity As we have continued to put more and more restrictions in place, scammers have adapted. They continue to have an impact on Steam customers and other unsuspecting individuals. So we’ve made the difficult decision to end the Steam Gift Card program at retail stores. As Steam Gift Cards run out of stock at retail locations, we will not be restocking them. We expect all retailers to be out of stock by the end of 2026. Though we will no longer be selling physical gift cards, you will still have the ability to use your existing gift cards on Steam whenever you choose, subject to local laws. We also continue to offer Steam Digital Gift Cards, and are working to make this an even better experience. Guest checkout, which we added last year, is another way for family members and friends to gift Steam users with a digital card anytime. You can learn more about gift card scams here.

Platner is getting people to show up. This is a good sign going into the general. “Libs love voting for nazis almost as much as republicans do” is not the win you think it is.
