This is the third story I’ve seen today that was basically “Tiktok users flee service to other chinese service app you’ve never heard of” So basically the usa banned tiktok, and now there’s 3 other tiktoks, all connecting the same amount of data for china, just through 3 different services instead of 1.

There’s a TikTok trend right now of women asking their male partners (or others) “How often do you think of the Roman Empire?” and a significant amount of them responding “often” or “all the time”.

It’s a TikTok thing. Hypothetically, would the woman being asked rather cross paths with a man she doesn’t know in the woods, or a bear? Lots of women pick bear, because as an animal its behavior is more predictable and arguably less dangerous to a woman than some random dude who for all she knows is a serial murdering rapist or some shit. And think of it this way: you see a bear in the distance and calmly walk the other way, most of the time you’ll be fine. It won’t follow you back to the parking lot, and then get into a car of its own and follow you back to your apartment. Some men are upset by this reasoning and instead try to mansplain how dangerous bears are. (Bears will also not send you aggressive messages on social media berating you for some stupid TikTok meme bullshit)

My dad really changed since joining TikTok. Now that’s all he talks about. Come look at this, come look at this,… “But I am busy.” “Oh, come on, it’s short.” “Look. See? People love Putin.” For fucks sake… Then he proceeds to loudly curse when he gets yet another account banned for posting some trash. When I try to talk to him, I am met with “Wait, I just have to finish this video.” then later he complains I don’t talk with him. ¿? I mean, it’s not just TikTok alone, he uses Facebook, TikTok and VKontakte, but I feel like that had the biggest influence.

They are a TikTok creator so I would assume by editor they mean a video editor and not a script editor or a code editor. Although my first guess for vs was Visual Studio it looks like there is a video editing app called Video Star and then it would follow that AE is Adobe After Effects

But I also feel that any random kid shouldn’t be able to just go to these sites and see porn freely. So they will just go to another site that doesn’t have age verification and doesn’t implement any security measures instead. Big sites are required to age check people before they are allowed to upload anything, that is not the case for most of the internet. All age verification does is aggregate personal information and make it easy target for bad actors to steal. Instead of needing to go thought 100 sites, now that information & identities will be tied to a single database. It’s also a slippery slope, since the same adult content is available not just on dedicated adult sites, but mainstream social media. Lemmy, Mastodon, Twitter, TikTok, Twitch (just recently wanted to allow nudity). Do you really want to have your identity tied to your online activity?

Kirklees council remains leaderless after councillors were unable to choose at a meeting yesterday; Reform are the biggest party, but short of a majority. Labour was wiped out in this month’s local elections. But the meeting saw some comedy as Reform UK’s would-be leader had to admit that neither she nor her 28 councillors understood what they were voting for. Or anything else, really: @kirkleesgreenparty Councillor Sarah Wood – Reform’s choice to lead Kirklees Council apparently doesn’t understand how the Council runs #huddersfield #westyorkshire ♬ original sound – Kirklees Green Party Reform farce Wood and her party objected that the votes on council processes were “unconstitutional”, because none of them understood anything. Cllr Tanisha Bramwell of the left-leaning Kirklees Community Independents group pointed out to Wood that it’s her job as a councillor and group leader to familiarise herself and her colleagues with what being a councillor involves, not the job of others to educate them: When you are elected you have to prioritise educating yourself on how to be the best councillor and representative for your area, that is on you. To call that unconstitutional is absolutely incorrect and it is not right. At one point, 27 councillors voted against making the council’s votes proportional – something normally rubber-stamped – then changed their minds and voted for it. The council will reconvene on Thursday 28 May to vote again. Reform chaos Reform’s chaos hasn’t been limited to Kirklees. Councillors have had to resign or are being investigated for sharing Nazi flags and making white supremacist and/or Islamophobic comments. In one case, a new councillor made comments about melting Nigerian people down to fill potholes. He has only been “temporarily” axed. But even if Reform councillors manage to avoid racism scandals (so far), they’ve shown an inability to actually run anything. Not just an inability, but an apparent disinterest in even giving it a proper go. Take Kent council as an example. Reform took control of it in 2025, promising to mount a ‘DOGE’-style programme of cuts to reduce waste and save money. Reform councillors then couldn’t find any savings to make – so they made them up and quickly got found out. That’s actually very ‘DOGE-like’, but not in any kind of way to boast about. In Derbyshire, one of Reform’s first acts in control was to “betray local people” by closing care homes – presumably ones that looked after some of their older base. Reform in Lancashire planned to privatise the council’s privately-run care homes but had to back down after outraged locals rose up against the plan. In Durham, a Reform councillor wanted to cut council workers’ pay to fund his own pay rise. And in Lincolnshire, former Tory Andrea Jenkyns – now Reform mayor – campaigned on a promise to cut “woke wastage”. She then immediately asked for a massive increase in funding for her own office. To justify this, she listed a string of issues that… are not the mayor’s job. No surprises here Reform is awful at government. Unsurprising given the jokers that populate it. Let’s be clear, Labour councils are often no better and just as corrupt. Neither party is a solution to the massive ills inflicted on the UK by red and blue Tory governments and having either of them in national government is a catastrophe. But regardless, let’s enjoy the little rays of sunshine when they all show themselves up, at least. Hopefully the country – including the racism-challenged currently supporting them – wakes up in time to avoid either disaster next time round. Florida officials will pay nearly half a million dollars to a biologist who was fired by a state agency for criticizing conservative activist Charlie Kirk on social media after his death. The state’s Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission fired biologist Brittney Brown in September after she reposted a meme on her personal Instagram account that claimed Kirk wouldn’t care about children being shot in their classrooms. She filed a lawsuit seeking reinstatement, saying she struggled to find other work because the state agency is the regulatory body for her research specialization in bird conservation. Brown on Thursday signed a $485,000 settlement agreement with agency directors that covers backpay, damages and attorney costs. She agreed as part of the deal to not seek future employment at the agency. Fish and Wildlife officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Brown was among a wave of workers in both the public and private sector who lost their jobs over comments about Kirk’s assassination on a Utah university campus. Lawsuits are pending over many of those firings. Before his death, Kirk and the organization he founded, Turning Point USA, galvanized the conservative youth vote to help President Donald Trump win a second term. Kirk’s supporters combed social media after the Sept. 10 shooting for posts they viewed as celebrating his death. Influencers like Laura Loomer pledged to ruin the careers of people who made light of the killing, and the conservative social media account Libs of TikTok shared the identities and workplaces of many who posted with its audience of millions.

Given how much the CCP controls China, you’re always a bit suspicious that any cool content from there is actually state-sponsored (TikTok seems to have a lot of channels like that). That was the first impression I got from the first video I saw of sexycyborg and I’m sure that a lot people dismissed her for similar reasons. But if you learn about her story, it all seems legit and she’s a very inspiring hacker.
