The blueprint for building a fairer world without breaking the planet

A group of more than 40 researchers spent 20 months devising a plan for the world to achieve ecological sustainability within planetary boundaries, all while seeing incomes rise for 98% of the global population and reducing working hours for everybody by half to two and a half days a week. The plan to achieve this by 2100 is laid out in the recent “Global Justice Report.” If it sounds utopian, Lucas Chancel, the co-director of the World Inequality Lab and editor of the report, is the first person to acknowledge this, but explains why it’s not only possible — there’s even historical precedent for many of the measures the report outlines. For example, humans used to work almost twice as many hours as they do today for far less pay, and productivity was lower. The reduction in hours worked, plus the increase in productivity, Chancel points out, is the evidence that this could work in the future, namely because the report outlines that productivity must fall. “ If low-income countries increase their productivity and continue to work the same amount of work hours per year, this is going to be a serious problem … from all material constraints that we might have in mind,” Chancel says. Is there a community I can join? I’m trying to start a career in CPC and I am self studying my way through, as I have no extra funds ATM to pay for extra classes or online help. I have the 2025 study guide, was just sent the 2026 study guide when I bought my 2 exam attempts, along with 3 practice tests they provided, plus 3 additional practice tests that I purchased. I have CPT, ICD-10-CM and HCPCS Level II books. I also watch Contempo Coding on YouTube and she is amazing at explaining things I need to learn. I just tried to take my first attempt at the real exam and failed at 68%, so close to passing. I just wanted to know if there are other peeps on here that have passed the exam, what helped you pass? What are your study methods?

German pharmaceutical giant linked to white phosphorus, glyphosate used by Israel in Lebanon: Report

A joint investigation by Germany’s Coordination gegen Bayer-Gefahren (CBG) and Medico International has linked German conglomerate Bayer to the Israeli military’s liberal use of glyphosate and white phosphorus inside Lebanon. The report, “Cartographies of Destruction: Israel’s War Against Lebanon,” traces the supply of glyphosate and white phosphorus to Bayer, which acquired Monsanto in 2018. Lebanon’s Ministry of Agriculture found localized soil samples containing glyphosate levels exceeding “normal levels by around 20 to 30 times,” with Lebanon’s army chief describing the situation as an “environmental and health” crime. While Bayer’s executive board denied supplying glyphosate directly to the Israeli or US military during an April 2026 meeting, the panel did not issue a denial regarding raw materials for white phosphorus.

Because I’ve never been addicted to alcohol, and I’m good at stopping drinking when I’m at the happy tipsy point. The LGBT community in Vietnam is kept on the down-low, but people can openly date and live with who they want without having to worry about violence … it’s a bit more conservative in the North than the South. Trans people can’t legally use the bathroom of their true gender, but I don’t believe that makes a big difference in reality. Sexism is expressed differently here, but it’s still systemic :-/

I have a bunch of hobbies, which range from female dominated to a solid mix of participants. However, for a hobby that has a good number of both men and women involved, there seems to be a gap in the participation and achievement levels in a way that mostly alings with gender. A friend of mine mentioned we would have to look at how men engage with hobbies. Do you feel that the ways men and women engage with hobbies generally, but especially when they share the same hobby still differs?

China adds over a dozen Japanese companies to its export control list, warning against re-militarization efforts

On Monday, June 29, China’s Ministry of Commerce added 20 Japanese entities, including its National Institute of Defense Studies and multiple Mitsubishi-affiliated defense contractors to its export control list in its latest step to stop its move towards re-militarization. The ministry claimed the move is to “safeguard national security and interest and fulfill international obligations such as non-proliferation,” Xinhua reported. The prohibition is aimed to stop the export of all dual-use items of Chinese origin to the entities in the list. It prevents any overseas companies or individuals from transferring such items to the listed entities. All existing contracts or transactions are also halted with immediate effect. Dual-use items are goods, technologies, and materials, such as rare earth minerals, which can be used for both civilian and military purposes. In addition, the ministry also listed 20 more entities, including multiple companies affiliated with Mitsui, on a watch list for their alleged links to the Japanese military and the potential of using Chinese items to enhance Japan’s military capabilities. “It is fully justified, legitimate and lawful for China to take these measures which aim to contain Japan’s reckless moves to neo-militarism,” said Guo Jiakun, official spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a press conference on Monday. He further assured that China’s “lawful” action “only targets a small number of Japanese entities. The relevant measures target only dual-use items, and will not affect the normal business exchanges” between both the countries. The motive of the move is to warn Japan “to turn back from the wrong path, correct its wrong doings, do serious soul-searching and go back to the right track,” Guo underlined. China had initiated similar export control moves against 20 Japanese entities first in February this year. The list had included Mitsubishi’s shipbuilding arm as well. Japan reacted to the Chinese move on Monday, calling it unacceptable and regrettable. Japan’s re-militarization and the new cold war The Chinese Ministry of Commerce noted that, despite repeated warnings in the past, Japan has refused to correct its ways and continued with the militarization and deployment of offensive weapons inside and outside its borders. Experts have warned that Japan has become a central part of the US “new cold war against China.” This has been accelerated by the surge of the right wing’s popularity in the country, which talks about the revival of the same national glory widely held responsible for the colonial period of Japanese history and the atrocities during World War II.
