Syrian Locals Say Israeli Troops Beat Them, Ran Over Their Sheep in Quneitra Incursion

Israeli forces have advanced into southwestern Syria’s Quneitra Governorate again Wednesday, and once again one of the operations involved a raid of the village of Saida al-Hanout. Locals say the IDF troops tied up a pair of young men in the village, beat them for awhile before letting them go without providing a reason, and […] From News From Antiwar.com via This RSS Feed.

Trump administration killed criminal investigation of GOP senator’s coal companies

The investigation examined potential criminal violations of the Clean Water Act by the multistate mining operations largely run by Justice’s son, Jay, according to current and former officials familiar with the matter. The criminal probe was a significant escalation in the yearslong effort to police serial pollution offenses by Virginia-based Southern Coal and dozens of affiliated mining operations controlled by the family. In the past decade, Southern Coal and other Justice corporations have racked up tens of thousands of alleged violations of the Clean Water Act and have been sued repeatedly by state and federal prosecutors over their failure to properly follow environmental laws at their mining sites.

"ALL POWER TO THE WORKING PEOPLE!" — 155 years of the "Internationale" — the anthem that changed the world

Exactly 155 years ago, in June 1871, right on the still-smoking barricades of the Paris Commune, the poet and communist Eugène Pottier wrote the poem “L’Internationale”. The Commune fell. Thousands of its defenders were shot. But the lines survived. Pottier hid the manuscript, and in 1887 published it in the collection “Revolutionary Songs”. A year later, the French composer Pierre Degeyter set it to music — and the anthem began its journey around the planet. The song was translated into dozens of languages. It became the anthem of the Second International. It was sung at May Day rallies, underground meetings, and demonstrations — in Germany, England, Italy, China, Latin America — everywhere where workers rose up against oppression. The anthem sounded in the trenches of the First World War, on the barricades of the Spanish Civil War, and in concentration camps. In the 1920s, it was such a powerful symbol that many governments banned it under threat of imprisonment. “This song is translated into all European, and not only European languages… Wherever a conscious worker goes, wherever fate takes him, no matter how alien he feels — without language, without acquaintances, far from his homeland — he can find comrades and friends to the familiar tune of the ‘Internationale’.” — V. I. Lenin In Russia, the “Internationale” first sounded in 1902, in the translation by Arkady Kotz. This translation became a classic: "The whole world of violence we will destroy To the foundations, and then We will build our new world, Who was nothing will become everything!" After the October Revolution of 1917, it immediately became the anthem of the new power. "And in Smolny — the crowd, spreading its chest, covered with a song of fireworks of information. For the first time instead of: — and it will be… — they sang: — and this is our last…" — Mayakovsky, from the poem “It’s Good” In January 1918, the All-Russian Central Executive Committee (VTsIK) approved the “Internationale” as the state anthem of the RSFSR, and later of the USSR. It was sung at the first subbotniks, on Red Square, at Congresses of Soviets. It sounded at the opening of the Dnieper Hydroelectric Station, in the factories of Magnitogorsk, at campfires of Pioneer camps. Soldiers marched into battle with it in 1941. The Germans listened to its lines with horror, coming from the ruins of the Brest Fortress, the catacombs of Adzhimushkay and Odessa. Workers sang it in the workshops of evacuated factories. In 1944, the new anthem of the USSR became Alexandrov’s music with Mikhalkov’s lyrics — but the “Internationale” did not fade into the background. It remained the anthem of the Communist Party. It was sung at party congresses, at May Day and November 7th demonstrations. For millions of Soviet people, it was not just a song — but an oath. “The ‘Internationale’ is the anthem of the international solidarity of the proletariat. It expresses the truth that the liberation of working people can only be the work of the working people themselves. As long as capitalism exists, the ‘Internationale’ will sound as a call to the last, decisive battle.” — V. I. Lenin, from “On the ‘Internationale’” (1913) and various speeches But at rallies in Nepal, at protests in Chile, at demonstrations and during strikes in Europe and America — its melody arises again and again. And its call — “Rise up, damned!” — remains as relevant as ever. As long as there is inequality, exploitation, and injustice. As long as someone’s labor is devalued, and someone else’s greed becomes law.

anonymous chatting is officially illegal

While what he says is broadly correct and I like that he makes it simple and understandable. I would like to add that: Companies aren’t ‘subject’ to this because they are forced by government. Companies actively lobbied for these laws so that they can say ‘the government forces us’ since the lobbying is WAY easier (and behind more closed doors) than actually implementing such a data harvesting tool as a single company. His wording makes it sound like ‘big brother wants your data’ and while the gov profits immensely from this harvesting as well, the companties primarily got this thing going by lobbying for it, like meta lobbying for verification laws wayyy ahead of this implementation wave we are seeing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lYsO4k7OIY Check the sources they cite.

First world transition problem: bathing?

So I’m in bath and notice that prior to HRT, when laying sideways, my hips would fully be under water. But now they don’t. I started it only 1 year and 2 mo ago (hips probably sadly fused already since I’m 28). And now part of hip is above water… Yay! But also, dangit. The bath’s filled to the brim and I love being fully submerged from neck down :(

Postal Service won’t deliver mail ballots for states that don’t hand over voter lists, under plan for Trump directive | CNN Politics

Although they are still stuck with the contract Trump 1 saddled them with for awful and expensive delivery vehicles. The replacement procurement process was started in January 2015, before Trump. And the contract itself was signed by Biden in 2021. Do you have anything to back up the NGDV being awful? Because from everything I can find that’s not the case. They’re much safer (airbags, anti-lock brakes, and crumple zones), and have Air Conditioning. The commentary I can find from actual USPS workers seems pretty positive. Most of the complaints are more from armchair redditors about the design, which is obviously secondary to the utility for this type of use case. Or they are complaints about the 10/90 BEV/ICE procurement split decided by the Trump admin, citing cost… even though the price difference was only about $3 Billion. Not actually complaints about the NGDV itself being a bad replacement for the LLV. The NGDV uses modern components, has modern safety features (the old LLV basically had none), and it’s available with both an ICE and BEV powertrain, and the ICE option can be swapped out later to the BEV, it’s not stuck being a gas powered vehicle forever. The old Grumman LLV has needed a replacement for decades. Anecdotally, I had two spontaneously catch fire in front on our house several years ago, about a month or so apart from failed components, likely due to age. Maintaining them cost a fortune because of that. Mail delivery is a near perfect use case for a BEV. Nearly identical routes every day, less than 70 miles total, with known time and distances. And long times of non-use overnight to charge the batteries, no fast charge needed.

Smoking these days is like being gay in the '70's.

Ok, here’s something resembling an actual source: lawandcrime.com/crime/kicked-his-a-pretty-good-man-clobbers-drunk-roommate-asking-him-for-cigarettes-to-death-with-box-fan-and-stomps-to-his-face-cops-say/ The guy didn’t kill the other one because one was a smoker and the other one wasn’t. Instead, both were smokers and one asked the other for cigarettes, which is what caused a fight and caused one to kill the other. Thus: nobody here was killed “for smoking”, as the comment you replied to put it. So how does that relate to violence between gay and non-gay people?

This is just a variant of typical white rooms in western prisons. Typical idea is to remove any kind of stimulation. So colours are not present. I am not sure whether western ones have furniture of any type. Some facilities are sound proof also. Some even go into uniform surface every where, and feed the prisoner a single bland food item for every meal Once a person is isolated in a way like this, without any stimulation from light, sound, touch, and taste, in a few days the person starts to breakdown. I think Black Mirror haf an episode exploring a variant of this. White Christmas?

Peru’s Presidential Elections: Left’s Roberto Sánchez Leads Against Far-Right Keiko Fujimori

The National Office of Electoral Processes of Peru (ONPE) reported that, with 97.023% of ballots counted, leftist candidate Roberto Sánchez of Together for Peru is leading the second round of the presidential election with 50.074% of valid votes (8,979,880 votes), compared to 49.926% (8,953,413 votes) for far-right candidate Keiko Fujimori. This data, updated on the ONPE website on Wednesday, June 10, at 4:25 p.m. local time, closely aligns with the preliminary results of the comprehensive quick count conducted by the National Democratic Institute/Ipsos. That poll, based on a 72.4% participation rate, projected 50.3% for Sánchez versus 49.7% for Fujimori. Meanwhile, ONPE reported an official turnout of 69.7%. According to the quick count, Fujimori would win only in the capital area with 63.6% and in the northern region with 52.4%. This would not be enough to defeat Roberto Sánchez, who is projected to win in the southern mountainous regions with 75.0%, in the eastern Amazonian region with 57.4%, and in the central region with 51.5%. The result would be a national outcome of 50.3% for Sánchez against 49.7% for Fujimori. As there are still ballots pending to be counted and others in the process of formal submission to the Special Electoral Jury (JEE), the outcome of the electoral process remains uncertain. The official count carried out by the ONPE, which began after voting closed at the 90,223 polling stations enabled nationwide, is the only institutional mechanism with legal validity to determine who will become the head of state. The uncertainty surrounding this second round is nothing new. In the last two presidential elections that were decided in a runoff, Keiko Fujimori, who is running for her fourth election and has been defeated in three previous elections, came close to becoming president but was defeated by narrow margins. In 2016, she lost to Pedro Pablo Kuczynski by just over 40,000 votes. Five years later, in 2021, she was defeated by Pedro Castillo with a similar margin. At the moment, Sánchez is leading by a little over 26,000 votes. Peru’s Presidential Elections: Leftist Sánchez and Far-Right Fujimori Separated by Less Than 0.1% Impeachment as a weapon against a president who inconvenienced the elites In the run-up to December 7, 2022, Castillo was facing a new motion for impeachment due to “permanent moral incapacity,” a constitutional figure that has become a tool of political pressure and turned Congress into a power capable of conditioning or toppling governments. In that climate, President Castillo issued a message to the nation that his opponents branded a coup attempt. The armed forces and the police did not support him. Congress approved his removal, and Castillo was arrested while trying to head to the Mexican embassy. The Peruvian judiciary institutionalized the injustice: Castillo was convicted of conspiracy to commit rebellion. In addition, Betssy Chávez, then president of the Council of Ministers; Willy Huerta, Castillo’s minister of the Interior; and Aníbal Torres, former president of the Council of Ministers and close advisor to the president, were sentenced to prison. Roberto Sánchez as representative of marginalized Peru The candidacy of Roberto Sánchez, a leader of Castillo’s party and former minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism during Castillo’s government, has been able to resonate with the rural, Andean, and popular vote that made Castillo president in 2021. His advance against Keiko Fujimori cannot be seen merely as an electoral surprise. It is the demonstration that the Peru that supported Castillo did not disappear with his imprisonment. Defending Mexico’s Sovereignty, the Principal Task of the Left in the Face of Imperialism’s War

This article by Josafat Hernández originally appeared in the June 9, 2026 edition of Contralínea, a Mexican investigative magazine. Last Sunday, May 31, President Claudia Sheinbaum presented a report on the main achievements of her government. It stands out that Mexico continues to be an economy with record figures in foreign direct investment: 23.591 billion dollars in 2026, the highest in recent times. Unemployment is 2.5 percent, one of the lowest in the world. Inflation is going down. The peso remains strong and stable against the dollar (the exchange rate per dollar is at 17.40 pesos). Tourism has also grown because, as the head of state said, “Mexico is in fashion.” The minimum wage continues to improve in such a way that, from 2018 to the present, it maintains a cumulative increase of 154 percent. The welfare programs will reach a coverage of 42.8 million people, with a historic investment of 1 trillion pesos. A pension has been guaranteed to 14.1 million senior citizens and additional support has been given to 3 million women between the ages of 60 and 63. Among the advances she enumerated is the construction of 29 new hospitals; 300,000 additional educational spaces for students, who are also supported with other social programs like Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro; the construction of new rail lines, infrastructure, and deepening of the rescue of Pemex and CFE. In addition, violence has been decreasing: intentional homicides fell by 49 percent and high-impact crimes by 20 percent, with respect to the 2024 figures. These are very important achievements that benefit the Mexican working class. There are improvements because wages in general are higher, inflation remains low, social programs continue to guarantee a dignified life for senior citizens, youth, peasants, and women in general. The 40-hour law also helps improve the working conditions of the working class. The fact that the strengthening of internal demand is also guaranteed strengthens the internal market. And with that, we have seen, the population that has started small and medium-sized enterprises, both formal and informal, has benefited. And with that there have been the material conditions that guarantee the social reproduction in Mexico of the working class in general. None of this happened during the neoliberal stage, from 1982 to 2018. The fight against corruption continues through the SAT and the democratization of all the powers that constitute the Mexican State: executive, legislative, and judicial. Thus, large rentier businessmen have been forced to pay taxes; and they no longer use the Judicial Power to promote amparos that, in the neoliberal stage, served to evade taxes through legal artifices. We see, in that sense, that the 4T has advanced in a fiscal dimension of the class struggle: it seeks for the business class to pay taxes, to do business within the framework of the law, without corruption, and to respect the stewardship of the Mexican State. Because in Mexico it must be clear, just as President Claudia Sheinbaum said, that it is the people who govern. It is very important, in that sense, to take note both of the final part of the president’s speech and the communication issued by Andrés Manuel López Obrador: in both cases, they speak of what Donald Trump’s government currently means for the country. We are living very complex moments because, as President Sheinbaum said, collaborating is one thing and interventionism is another. And Donald Trump, through the CIA, seeks to intervene in our country’s affairs. The conclusive case is what happened with the CIA agents who died in Chihuahua, who were carrying out field operations supposedly fighting drug trafficking, which the Mexican right in the Chihuahua government allowed. And all of this without informing the federal government. That is why the president’s denunciation is relevant: there are attempts at foreign interference in our country, which have the favor of right-wing collaborationists, traitors to the homeland. It is clear that Mexico is now under imperialist siege. There is an attempt to destabilize state and federal governments with corruption accusations, as in the case of the governor on leave of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha, that show precisely that tendency of Washington to generate a geopolitical use of issues such as the fight against drugs. And this is complemented by the cognitive war that seeks to generate a demonization of those accused, in this case, politicians close to López Obrador, to generate “symbolic deaths.” The objective of imperialism and the far rights is to undermine the popular support of the entire historical bloc of the 4T by sowing doubts, disappointments, and suspicions. But it does not stop there. The cognitive war of imperialism is already articulating with the economic war driven by transnational capital. And we see this through the rating agencies, which recently lowered Mexico’s credit ratings. And the argument is that in this country there is a “fiscal problem” derived not from public debts, nor from chronic deficits in public finances, but from “fiscal inflexibility.” And this is so because, the rating agencies argue, Mexico does not have enough resources to undertake new infrastructure projects, as well as the situation that tax exemptions for big capital can no longer be made now. The problem is that rating agencies like Standard & Poor’s arbitrarily move from a stable to a negative outlook and lower Mexico’s credit rating. This affects the bond values of Mexican public companies, and affects investment flows to the country. Among the rating agencies’ arguments is the supposed uncertainty generated by the application of the reform to the Judicial Power. They say there is a supposed “concentration of power” that breaks the independence of the Judicial Power. It is worth saying that these rating agencies serve the interests of big transnational capital and that, evidently, they do not take into account in their analyses the sentiment of the Mexican people, who demanded the democratization of the Federal Judicial Power. In this international context, it is very clear that the national-popular process we are living is under siege. And they will look for all ways to destabilize it, including the threats from rating agencies that seek for President Claudia Sheinbaum’s government to submit to an agenda dictated from the financial markets, not from the people of Mexico. Additionally, it is very important to mention that everything that happens in the country will be distorted by the corporate media and the algorithms of social networks. The objective: to show that Mexico is a failed state, ungovernable, that requires the military and political intervention of Yankee imperialism to establish order. It is also fundamental to observe that these foreign interventions count on the collaboration of the Mexican far rights. In this context of geopolitical analysis, it is fundamental to consider that any image of confrontation and repression with social movements will be distorted and used as part of the right’s narrative to discredit the current progressive and left-wing government of President Claudia Sheinbaum. Hence the need to appeal to a sense of responsibility in social movements like the CNTE that, while their demands are legitimate, also consider the very complicated geopolitical context our country is going through. That is why it is fundamental to be clear that today we need to defend national sovereignty, because without it, we will not have the conditions to guarantee social and labor rights of any kind. Finally, it is also very important that the Mexican business class mobilize to invest in the country, within the framework of Plan México. It is very important to reactivate the economy, contribute to the consolidation of the development poles, and also to the development of regional economies to strengthen the internal market. Because in the economic war of Yankee imperialism, the tariff policy is already used as a measure of pressure and blackmail to subjugate entire nations. And in this context of imperial aggression, Mexico needs to take on as a state task the development of the country’s productive forces to strengthen our national sovereignty. Analysis Defending Mexico’s Sovereignty, the Principal Task of the Left in the Face of Imperialism’s War June 10, 2026 Defending sovereignty is now the principal task of Mexico’s left, argues Josafat Hernández, as Trump, rating agencies and the far right besiege the 4T. Cafetón: A Haven From Dating Apps, ICE, and Loneliness, Bolstering Pittsburgh’s Latino Community

PITTSBURGH, PA. - On a Sunday afternoon late last month, the second floor of the Library Club on Pittsburgh’s South Side was bumping with Reggaeton spun by DJ Cesar, who works at Pittsburgh’s first Latino radio station, Radio Las Palmas. The monthly party, known as Cafetón, has quickly become a “scene” in its own right, and one that is badly needed at a time when ICE is regularly conducting raids in Pittsburgh. The group organizing the parties, Latinas en Pittsburgh, have hired and trained their own security guards on what to do if ICE shows up. “We all feel this intensity of what’s happening with our family members, what’s happening with our community, what’s happening with my friends,” says Latinas en Pittsburgh founder Brenda Garcia, a 35-year-old Mexican immigrant who grew up in Pittsburgh. “We need an outlet, we need somewhere where we can just dance and not worry about our security, not worry about our safety.” While many immigrant groups are organizing against ICE’s presence within the city and its collaboration with surrounding municipalities, the Cafetón party is focused on giving this besieged community a place to have fun and de-stress. 'Everyone just feels so overwhelmed, and it’s so important to have a place where Latinos can just connect, come together, and have some fun,” says Garcia. “For so long, Latinos in Pittsburgh have felt so isolated, and now we are trying to build community. In the 1980s and 1990s, few Latinos came to Pittsburgh as the mills closed and the region lost more than half of its population. In the past two decades, Pittsburgh’s resurgence as an “eds, meds, and tech” economy has the city growing again, including an influx of Latino residents. The Latino population is currently 4.5% of Pittsburgh, and with even more moving here, many are looking for ways to build community. “The Latino community is growing, but we needed a community to lean on, and so that’s why I created this group,” says Garcia. “There have been so many Latinos that have come up to me after every event and been like, ‘I needed this so much, you have no idea how much I needed this.’” The growth of events like Cafetón are driven in part by the resurgence of meetup culture as people abandon dating apps to seek new ways to meet people. “Most people nowadays, they are just feeling really disconnected because they’re going through apps, but they’re not really meeting the people that they want to meet,” says Sam Perez, the founder of the meetup group Yinzer Meets. “Most times it takes an organizer like me, someone who makes them feel comfortable enough to come out to an event.” Over the past few years, dating apps have seen a dramatic decline in use as psychologists warn about the negative psychological effects of perpetual dating. For many, the process of constantly searching, replying to messages, and rejection has led to burnout, as the majority of dates lack chemistry. Studies have consistently shown that people who aren’t on dating apps are happier than people who are on them. At the same time, Americans are socializing in-person at half the rate compared to a decade ago, according to the US Census Bureau, making it hard for lonely young Americans to meet people for dating or friendship. Fed up with dating apps and loneliness, meetup groups have re-emerged as a way to connect lonely people looking to meet new people. In Pittsburgh, there are more than a half-dozen professional event-throwing meetup groups, but Yinzers Meet has been unique in helping to promote the Latino community. Yinzers Meet, run by Samuel Perez, a 30-year-old Cuban-American transplant from Miami, has held unique meetups across Pittsburgh, including not just parties, but also hikes, roller skating, baseball tailgates, and climbing wall sessions. “When I first moved to Pittsburgh, I felt really disconnected and I wanted to do something to really bring people together. There are so many lonely people out there,” says Perez. Yinzers Meet encourages people to “come solo and leave with friends.” Perez organizes ice-breakers and works the room, encouraging folks to meet one another and connect. Yinzers Meet works closely with groups like Latinas en Pittsburgh to throw parties and events that fill a niche in Pittsburgh. “We have really seen that young Latinos are lonely and looking for a way to connect with people,” says Brenda Garcia. Rick Rodriguez is a 30-year-old Puerto Rican aircraft mechanic who moved to Pittsburgh from Miami to take a job with American Airlines. Compared to Miami, he found it really hard to plug into local Latino culture. "It’s crazy, because there’s not a lot of Spanish people in Pittsburgh,” says Rodriguez. “It’s good to just be able to go out and connect with folks.” Frank Carpio is a 38-year-old filmmaker and Ecuadorian immigrant who moved to Pittsburgh from New Jersey nearly 20 years ago to attend college at Pitt. He says it took him a while to discover Pittsburgh’s Latino community. “There are Spanish people here, but they’re usually working, and out of the spotlight,” says Carpio. “It doesn’t mean that we’re not here, we’re very much here, we’re very much a part of this society and the city, but the thing is that we’re not as visible as I would like us to be.” At a time when many fear ICE, Carpio says that he sees a surge in activity and events that he hasn’t seen in the Latino community. “ICE could be right outside - we’re in a world now where that is a fucking possibility, that’s shitty, but at the same time, that’s not gonna stop Spanish people from having fun,” says Caprio. Brenda Garcia, who does marketing for immigration law firms in Pittsburgh, says that not only are these events about having fun, but in many cases, they have helped immigrants get resources and support when needed. At a time when people are feeling lonelier than ever, and immigrants are facing unprecedented threats from ICE, meetup groups have helped foster a new sense of community in Pittsburgh’s Latino community. “I think it has made our community grow even tighter,” says Brenda Garcia. Smoking these days is like being gay in the '70's.

I once stood next to a gay couple having a blowjob. A few seconds later I got blown aswell from one of them. Imagine my surprise as I’m not gay, I swear, I just happened to be there
