Hargara at 2023-08-20 15:27:58+00:00 ID: jx09wk5 Danes are difficult to socialize with - even for Danes. A lot of friendships are made early on especially during university/school in general, and those are often friendships for life. There are several posts in this subreddit by both foreigners and Danes on how to make friends, and truth is that it often takes a bit more effort compared to many other places. It is possible though. My wife made friends through sports - and also through work, but many people will keep their work life separate from their private life. If you’re coming here to study, make sure to participate in the various activities planned by the school and try not to limit yourself to stay with other internationals - force those Danes to embrace the social Italian culture!

That is also depending on your budget. The Bosch infrared camera fits your needs, but the price is high. It has ‘normal’ Bosch battery packs, rechargable and swappable. Pictures have a good quality (still small, it’s an infrared camera after all). But the calibration time is quite long and happens often, especially when the outside temperature changes a lot (going inside/outside). Annoying, but probably necessary.

Nickel-Iron rechargable batteries have been around for over 125 years, and are sometimes called “Edison batteries” because they were produced by Thomas Edison’s battery company. The active material of the negative plates is iron oxide (i.e. rust). They could more accurately be called iron-oxide/nickel-hydride batteries. They have some disadvantages especially for portability (liquid electrolyte and poor weight to charge ratio) and require regular topping up electrolyte like older models of car batteries. However, they are tolerant of frequent cycling, undercharging and overcharging, and can last 20-30 years in continuous use.

Why 21? And yes, I agree student debt shouldn’t be a thing, but the solution imo isn’t to make education free, but to make student loans dischargable in bankruptcy. kids should not be working to buy a gaming console Why not? It teaches them the value of labor, which is extremely useful in transitioning to adult life. I learned the value of hard work, and that has helped me immensely in my life. I don’t want to get into debt because I want my labor to mean more than a line item on a bank’s financial books. I understand the value of investing, because I want my money to work for me. I had access to other video games as a kid, but I wanted something specific and the condition was I had to earn it. I also wanted to drive a car, but I was responsible to pay for gas and thus needed a job. My parents paid my tuition, but I was reasonable to pay for my room and board. I wanted a cell phone, so I bought one with the money I earned. I got a credit card at 18 (parents co-signed) and a second in school, and never once paid interest and had a great credit score so I could buy a house earlier (bought at 25?). I got married before finishing school, at which point I took complete responsibility for paying my way through school. I worked my way through college, and I think that made me actually value that educational experience. I had a vested interest to get something out of it, and I was set up to succeed when I landed my own job because I already knew how to manage my finances. I learned to live frugally and not waste my money on nonsense, because I understood the work to get that money. So I absolutely will be providing my kids work experience, whether on the books or not (we have an allowance system at home based on chores). I think it’s more valuable to work outside the family, just because there’s that added level of accountability (Mom and Dad probably won’t fire you, but that other boss would). I’ve heard horror stories of parents stealing their kids’ money, so that’s where my focus is in terms of legislation.

Battery life always goes to crap almost exactly 2 years after purchase Disposable battery technology is disposable. We don’t have truly rechargable batteries yet … and the EV batteries only last longer (AFAIK) because they’ve got better cooling systems and are higher grade – read more expensive – components. Appliances use plastic parts and come with a plethora of unnecessary features all on one circuit board so when one feature breaks the appliance is dead That’s not the entire story there … it’s just cheaper to make it one board. You can eliminate some points of failure by using one board as well. It’s definitely ridiculous appliance companies aren’t providing parts. I’d also like to point out … I was specifically responding to the widespread e-waste from the mobile devices sector. Not “all things that could possible become e-waste in 2024.” GUARANTEED planned obselence is what has been happening there for years with “2 years of device security updates” and that nonsense is ending. There’s even a story going around about a business-class HP printer Yeah, don’t buy HP. It’s gone long past planned obsolescence at this point. Whether it’s software or hardware, companies want you subscribed for life. Anything less and they break the devices that were able to dupe you into thinking you owned. Subscriptions aren’t necessarily the enemy when it comes to e-waste. They’re bad for ownership, but they’re not bad for planned obsolescence and e-waste. If your subscribers need your device to keep working to keep paying you, you’ve got a much stronger incentive to keep the device working vs just abandoning it. This already happened with software, there really isn’t “buy once then buy again and again and again” software anymore, the vast majority of software has gone subscription. This is also true of online games like CSGO, Hunt Showdown, Fortnite, etc. It’s just a matter of making things into subscriptions that are mutually beneficial. Your printer being an InkJet printer with a vendor locked in subscription that doesn’t offer any real service is absurd and should be illegal. Your smart home camera having a subscription to store cloud video, provide new features and security updates … that’s a reasonable service that a lot of “normal” people don’t want to do themselves (and incentivizes manufactures to keep their devices working so you keep paying). A big part of the problem with e-waste is that companies setup fancy features to sell a product but didn’t plan for how to support that product’s software for the life of the product (because they’re not making any more after the point of sale) … so we end up with a very insecure piece of unserviceable e-waste. Don’t get me wrong we’ve still got a long way to go before we find a solution that handles the problem for all the various devices being manufactured these days. However, credit where it’s due the mobile devices sector / “big tech” is doing better than they have for the last 15 years, and that’s all I’m trying to contest. There IS change happening.

these engagements always go the same way, so here’s a copy/paste from somewhere else: since you’re clearly digging in your heels; i’m going to try to undercut your next arguments since they are always the same three from the deeply ignorant liberal crowd: biden recently defended his decisions on all three [DOMA; don’t ask, don’t tell; undischargable student loan debt] plus multiple more shitty decisions; so it doesn’t matter how long ago he said it or made those laws. biden refused to change his mind all the way up until his presidential campaign and has a solid history of changing his mind but only once it becomes politically convenient for him; so he didn’t “evolve” or get better, he just knows that trump is weaker on this topic and uses your ignorance about his past of truly horrific anti-lgbtq/black/poor history to get your vote. Additionally: no, dunking on gays for easy politically points in the past wasn’t popular, many politicians (eg bernie sanders) never did it. his beliefs are the reason why he’s not bothering to improve anything, especially on the student loan debt. also: yes there are many things he can do even though congress is trying to block him; but he won’t do it no matter what. (google these too)
