Voor het eerst gaat het kabinet onderzoek doen naar een online gameplatform: Roblox. Op Roblox spelen ruim 2 miljoen kinderen games in een digitale wereld waar ze zich doorheen kunnen bewegen. Deskundige Harry Hol waarschuwt: “Iedereen met een gek idee kan wat maken en op Roblox zetten. Seks, geweld en haat. Wil je jouw kind daar bloot aan stellen?”

A massive crash of Amazon web services has caused chaos round the world. The sudden cut-out is reportedly due to IT issues, rather than a cyber-attack. But, it does show how easily billionaire-owned monopolies can be toppled. The Guardian explained: Amazon reported that the problem originated in the east coast of the US at Amazon Web Services, a unit that provides vital web infrastructure for a host of companies, which rent out space on Amazon servers. AWS is the world’s largest cloud computing platform. The crash put a vast array of businesses out of action. These included apps like Roblox, Signal, Snapchat, and Duolingo. Amazon’s main retail site and its Ring doorbell app also failed. Lloyds, Halifax, and RBS banking also had outages, as did HMRC. There were reports that up to 25% of the world’s top million websites went down: #AWS servers are apparently down… This affects 25% of the top million websites. Perhaps it’s not the best idea to allow corporate monopoly to such an extent that an outage at one company takes out 25% of the internet? Perhaps!! Amazon Web Services takes the internet down Dr Corinne Cath-Speth, head of digital at ARTICLE 19, a human rights organisation, said this showed the dangers of massive monopolies: We urgently need diversification in cloud computing. The infrastructure underpinning democratic discourse, independent journalism, and secure communications cannot be dependent on a handful of companies. And, as Dr. Cath-Speth and her colleague Don Le explained: The irony is striking: projects built on principles of openness, decentralization, and digital sovereignty—from open-source collaboration platforms to non-profit secure messaging services—all go dark the moment their commercial cloud provider experiences an outage. Once again it’s being shown that tech lords Jeff Bezos have too much power – and that’s not to mention their wealth. Our increased reliance on a few massive firms for basic services puts us all in danger. And by undermining institutions and the media, it also threatens basic freedoms. Capitalism and corporate monopolies are to blame for today’s outages. And, the crash is undoubtedly yet another sign – were it needed – that commercialisation is killing the internet. An Amazon Web Services outage has been causing major disruptions around the world. The service provides remote computing services to many apps, websites, governments, universities and companies. On Downdetector, a website that tracks online outages, users reported issues with Amazon Alexa, Amazon Prime, Snapchat, Ring, Roblox, Fortnite, online broker Robinhood, the McDonald’s app and many others.

The possible fate of my Roblox account and Robux

Hi, everyone. I want to describe what happened to my Roblox account and Robux balance because I’m genuinely concerned and confused at this point. Over the past few days, I’ve noticed something peculiar: my Robux balance has always been zero. Even after someone donated to me, the pending Robux section showed nothing. I refreshed the page, logged out and back in again, but nothing changed. It’s as if all my Robux disappeared overnight. I’m starting to think that someone might have hacked my account and stolen my Robux. I haven’t shared my password with anyone, and I’ve always been careful, so this situation is both confusing and frustrating. I used to enjoy Roblox, but now it feels like I’m losing everything I worked for. Thankfully, my avatar, items, and creations are still intact. However, I can’t buy anything in the shop anymore because my balance is empty. Here’s what I’m going to do: I’ll continue trying to contact Roblox Support to see if they can recover anything or explain what happened. If they can’t help and this problem isn’t resolved, I won’t create a new Roblox account, and I’ll quit Roblox for good. I’ve lost too much to start over. It’s not just about the Robux. It’s about losing trust in a platform I invested time and effort in. I hope Roblox takes issues like this more seriously because many players experience similar issues. P.S. Any mean or sarcastic comments about this post will be blocked and reported immediately. This is a serious post, and I am attempting to find solutions. Or you can say: we are offering people anywhere in the world the capability to get a job, and even like an income,” Corazza said. “So I can be like, 15 years old, in Indonesia, living in a slum, and then now with just a laptop, I can create something, make money, and then sustain my life.” When I read that quote a few weeks ago, I thought about how that’s the kind of argument people who travel abroad to rape kids use to justify themselves. It feels related to this, somehow. Maybe something about how children are treated like a disposable resource or an object to be used unless the person who owns them (parents?) are powerful, well to do, white, etc, etc. And that’s because their owner is those things, so they’re valuable property. I’m not sure if I’m articulating myself well. Too much sun.
