I didn’t get banned. I left after the API change. I was already reducing use naturally, and what time I did still spend there was mostly to mod a very small niche hobby sub. Without the mod tools I used before the API changes, plus the influx of MAGA-bots on reddit as a whole, I could longer mod the sub in a way the community asked for and that I was comfortable with. So I resigned, wished the remaining mods well, and went about my way. There were other subs trying to go dark and impact reddit’s advertising opportunities, and reddit was banning some of the mods doing that sort of thing. I decided even if reddit changed course, I was past the point I could ever come back to it.

It’s just how capitalism do. Enjoy free VC services while they last, but do not get attached to them. They will, invariably, enshittify. Private companies with good leadership can last for a bit but eventually slide as well. Companies do not have moral stances and only will hold moral policies as long as they have moral leadership or they fear user backlash. Money and profits are too great an incentive. Reddit was big enough that it wasn’t worried about user backlash. I’m enjoying Steam for now, but there will come a day that it will too become a pariah, mark my words.

Oh sorry, I thought that might of been a different user or something. I don’t think it’s on purpose. But yeah it tracks. Especially the book. Honestly I kind of had to just go back mentality and think through the movie and I can see where someone can interpret that. But I kind of have to squint and look sideways. Regardless he’s certainly been adopted by the community. And it was because of the podcast. It is up there in some of the worst shit I’ve ever watched. Every part of it is just bad and wrong. Like they didn’t even get cattle or ranching shit correct ffs. (Originally I’m from rural Oklahoma) All hat no cattle show for the all hat no cattle suburb white racist assholes. I could go on.

Any web app you can think off can be used in WebSpace in its own web instance instead of your main web browser. Basically it is a web browser but for web apps you use often and may want running in the background. For use degoogled users who use website, web apps, PWAs over native apps, this makes using these services much easer. WebSpace also adds many privacy features such as ad blocking and filtering, cookie isolation, and more. Also it is written in Flutter! Meaning this could become available on desktop in the future! One app, one codebase for all major OSes! Check it out and contribute!

In the aftermath of the floods, many NSW homes were significantly damaged and still lay in the path of future floods. In response, the NSW government introduced a buyback scheme for eligible homes in flood-prone areas. Part of this program involved demolishing homes, with the materials discarded in landfill or used for low-value recycling, such as woodchipping and burning. Yet the homes contained valuable materials, such as hardwood timbers. Losing these homes was traumatic for the local community and an unnecessary loss of valuable resources. While true, RISC-V probably isn’t the architecture for that. Better to use an old architecture whose patents have expired, and implement it on a new, smaller process. RISC-V is good as an alternative to ARMv8 where the use case doesn’t quite fit what ARM is doing — or to implement in a country where there may be restrictions on how ARM is sold/deployed. What I’m waiting for is for someone to implement something in RISC-V similar to Apple’s ARM implementation, with all the cores and memory on a single die. No need to do FPGA when you can just fab an unencumbered design in small batches for relatively cheap.
